Pros: Location — it’s right across the street from the beach and there is a boardwalk right there too. It’s also close enough to walk to several area restaurants and the ice cream shop. Other than a run to Publix, we didn’t need to use our car. Price-holiday weekend and I felt the price was fair. Especially when you compare to renting something through vrbo or staying at the Don Cesar. Room — kitchenette, the fridge was all we used but if you were staying longer this would be a plus. Extras-beach chairs and bikes were free to use. Cons: Rooms-very small. We stayed downstairs. The ceilings are barely 6ft. The ceiling in the shower is under 6ft. If you are claustrophobic or over 6 ft, make sure you request a 2nd floor room. AC — there was a small window like unit. It was in the bedroom area and pointed at the opposite wall. If you stood in front of it, it blew cool air. But it didn’t circulate the air. The air was also very humid(we found out why later). After a rain shower the last day we were staying, we came back to the room to find a soaking wet floor in the bed area and the area in front of the bed. This seemed to explain the extra humidity in the room to us as we figured this wasn’t a new problem, insure it happens every time there is a big shower. I called the number on the sign and the person said he’d bring a fan. After a little bit, we decided to just pack up and head out. We were there @ an hour before we left and no one ever came with a fan. Our friends in a different room stayed and at check out spoke to the manager who said he’d make it up to them on their next visit. Great news for them! Crappy news for me who paid for a night in a room I refused to stay in due to a soaking wet floor. And I guess since I won’t be going back, they don’t have to «make it up to me». As a former hotel industry employee, I get that you can’t move me to another room if you don’t have one available, but be up front and take care of me by not charging me for a room not in a condition to stay in.(We had prepaid for the stay at check in on our friends card).

I really love this place and here’s why: I like family owned businesses(especially Veteran owned businesses). In terms of location you really can’t get any better. Right on beautiful Pass-a-grille beach, this small, quaint hotel is literally right across the street from the beach. The family that owns this establishment is easy going, friendly and very accommodating. I love that it’s a small, personable place. I was looking for a beach bungalow vibe, not a towering snooty high rise hotel. This place is the epitome of the lazy island beach lifestyle I was craving. We stayed in the ground level room with low ceilings and being a «small or height challenged» person myself, I absolutely loved it. My boyfriend who is about 5’11″ liked the room too! The room was ice cold to escape the Florida heat and despite it’s low ceilings, it was plenty of room for us, giving us what we needed– a place to shower and lounge. It was clean and well managed. The bed was comfortable and it had a fully functioning kitchenette. There are beach cruiser bicycles on site for guests to use, which is perfect for exploring the area. The pool is small but all you need for a quick dip. They have a grill you can use and picnic tables outside as well. Overall Sabal Palms offered everything I was looking for and everything I needed for a relaxing getaway. I’ll be back soon.

5 stars doesn’t describe the luxury, but describes the value. These people were outstanding for costumer service– they bent over backwards to make guests comfortable. Rooms were clean– we had use of beach chairs and bikes for free. There is a huge hot tub– it’s not constantly heated, so you can get refreshed. I’d come again– it’s around $ 100 per night right on the beach… It exceeded my expectations for that price. Really exceeded my expectations!

We stayed in the small basement room as we made our reservations last minute. It was not the room we would have wanted, but it was clean and comfortable – save for one night when the people above us had a circus elephant parade at 11PM. The pool is a large spa tub and it was great for relaxing at the end of the day. There is ample space for laying out in the sun, eating outside, and they have a grill so you can cook outside too. There is free WiFi available which was fast enough so that I could watch shows on Hulu. The downstairs rooms are somewhat cramped, but the upstairs rooms look to be much more roomier. That said, their prices are very reasonable and I think it is a very good value. I am tempted to give 4 stars based on the helpful staff. Eddie and Yudit really went out of their way to make us feel at home and were always available to resolve any issues you might have. The location is across the street from Pass-A-Grille Beach and they provide beach chairs. If you prefer the peacefulness of Pass-a-Grille, and don’t need a fancy room, then this is your place.

We liked this place. The pool is a «spa pool», more like a big hot tub(it’s warm, like 90) and right near the beach(across the street). Not a great place, but we found it pretty clean. This part of St. Pete Beach is VERY low key. No traffic or crowds. I’d actually lean toward 3.5, but giving them the benefit of the doubt here.

If you’re looking for a top notch place, go elsewhere! If you’re looking for a place to rest your head after a long day at the beach and a few too many drinks at the Hurricane Bar, just up the street, this is perfect! I like that I don’t have to pack my own beach chairs for the weekend trip, I can borrow theirs. There is also always something fun going on nearby and the use of their bicycles is a nice little perk too. There is a kitchenette which makes it nice for keeping some drink and snacks on hand. I typically bring the breakfast goods so that we can eat in the morning and hit the beach which is literally just across the two-laned street. LOVETHAT! We often have lunch in the room too so that we can hit the beach again after everyone rests for a bit and then dinner out and about! The atmosphere, as I said, is nothing fancy. The venue is what I believe used to be a home, that has been split into ten rooms and was built waaaay back. It’s really kind of cool if you like the old architecture and the common areas on the premises are nice and convenient. It’s beachy. I did worse places when we were in college, traveling with no $$, trust me on this! It’s CHEAP for waterfront lodging. Pass-A-Grille is a cool little town! I’ve come here on and off for almost 25 years, back when the rooms were $ 40 a night.

Two might actually be a bit lenient depending on your tolerance for gross. I’ll start with their saving graces: 1) Wi-Fi(theoretically…I didn’t try it) 2) A stable of bikes free for use. Rusty bikes and a half-functioning tire pump, but bikes nonetheless 3) A «heated pool.» Actually, it’s really a giant hot tub/jacuzzi that could seat 24 people comfortably. Depth of 4′ in the center. I did a couple of laps just for kicks. 4) You can borrow their beach chairs and walk directly across the street to the beach. 5) Functional kitchenette 6) Nice common areas on the premises Now the sketchy stuff: 1) Stain on the pillow case. Crappy mattress. Cheap sheets. You should probably stop right here. 2) No shampoo. Two regular-size bars of ivory soap are provided. 3) Cheap towels. At least they changed them. They get piled up on the toilet tank. No basket, no shelving. 4) Drop ceilings give a distinctly downscale office vibe. 5) Drab drab drab. Drab pink walls, drab and cheap Ikea furniture set. We paid $ 110 for an «Ocean view» room. If you’re going to stay here, save your $$ and just get the rear rooms for $ 85. Or better yet, pay the same price elsewhere and get a much better experience if you don’t need the hot tub. We stayed 2 blocks away last year(Inn on the Beach?) and everything there was clean, cute, and pleasant.
