El Mezon

Fast, friendly service! The margarita is tasty, not to sweet and the Chicken quesadilla I ordered with rice and beans are very good. First time here and I will definitely come back.

This place is fantastic! I have to admit… after my sister moved to the suburbs, I was pretty worried about the availability of great restaurants. El Mezon helped quell my fears!
I was excited when I walked in on a Thursday and found live music! The man who was performing with the guitar was awesome! Our server was super attentive and friendly. We came in the evening, but I hear they have pretty good lunch specials. The menu had a lot of variety, but I went with my «safe» choice of 3 soft tacos, which were delicious. I have to admit that the main reason I came to this place was to have some margaritas. To my absolute delight, you can get pitchers of flavored margaritas (icy or on the rocks) for $ 15! My sister and I ordered the mango margarita pitcher on the rocks, and it was absolutely delicious (and pretty strong, too)!
I will most certainly be back!

I’ve tried a few dishes on a few visits but never cared for anything. The cheese isn’t shredded, it’s a saucy cheese on everything.

Love this place, best mexican resturaunt in st. louis area. They always make sure your cup is full, and prices are very reasonable

Outstanding! I’ve been to a lot of Mexican restaurants & this is one of the best. They have a good lunch menu & everything is priced really good. You won’t leave hungry. Very good way better then El Maguey

Decent food, great drive thru with full menu available. Salsa is sub-​par… More like runny tomato sauce with a few diced onions and some cilantro thrown in. Queso dip is good though! Also, they are non-​smoking! :)

Good food and service! One of my favorite Mexican spots in St. Peter’s. Good price for a pretty big portion of food!

Me and the wife eat here 2 – 3 times a month. Food is well above average and the prices are well below what you would expect for the quantity and quality. We recommend to everyone that asks.
Without drinks we can both leave stuffed to the gills for under $ 22. They have a punch card that earns you half off a dinner or free lunch when completed and we almost feel like we are stealing from them when we cash one in.

This place makes amazing food. The chili rellenos was perfect, seasoned well and topped with their salsa and cheese. I had the chili verde and was blown away. I did not eat the rice and beans, but concentrated on eating the succulent, perfectly braised pork and enjoying the house made verde sauce. Put it in the tortillas and enjoy. This is real Mexican food and executed perfectly. Skip the faux Mexican-​American stuff and concentrate on the braised beef and pork and you will not be disappointed.

After eating at El Mezon I don’t understand why there are so many fantastic reviews. What my fiancée and I had was basic Mexican food. Nothing that you can’t get at dozens of Mexican restaurants around town. The service was fine, the food was served hot, but lacking flavor. The are several better Mexican restaurants in town. It’s not worth going out of your way for this place.

We have been looking for a great place in st. charles county and this seems to fit the bill. Fast good and happy stuff.

Food and service was great! My only complaint was that my food was too hot temperature wise and I couldn’t eat it right away, but that’s pretty good if that’s the biggest complaint!

The food was uneventful and had no taste it flavor. They also brought our entrees out so quickly that we didn’t have time to enjoy the salsa and chips.

UPDATE: Last couple times haven’t been very good. Service is great, but food kind of sucks and I think they put extra fart powder in their food.
Good food, incredibly low menu prices. We got a kids meal with beverage, a chimichanga meal, ice cream, and fried apple burrito for less than $ 15 before tip. What sets them apart, though, is the service. Our server was excellent, and the entire front-​of-​house staff worked together to make sure customers never went without a refill or had empty plates sitting in front of them for more than a few seconds. We were there during lunch rush, but the food didn’t take long (10 – 12 minutes) and none of the waitstaff seemed impatient but did seem to enjoy what they were doing. We’ll definitely be back.

Great service, excellent sweet tea. Pretty good fajita & chimi was delicious but the queso was definitely the highlight. Rice and chips were subpar. Would visit again :)

Delicious. I got the chimichanga. It’s my staple Mexican restaurant test. I got it with chicken. Yum. The whole thing was filled with chicken. That is rare to see. The chicken had great flavor. Jason got the enchiladas supreme and said it was very good as well. The tortillas were especially good. Would definitely go back. Did I mean it was cheap. The margaritas were strong which is a definite plus.

Dirt cheap, great pulled chicken and patient service… BUT I wish I ordered by a spice rating like other ethnic places have started because there is no heat. Overall– the exterior looks like a fast food restaurant, but the chicken and prices will make me come back.
After I ordered a combo lunch for around $ 4, I read on the menu that not all Mexican food is spicy and they will add spice to taste. My guess this place is like the Thia & Indian places that are trying to make the weak tongue public happy– so order on a scale of hot you want it.
The chili relleno was huge to the point I took a pic next to a bill… but had little flavor. The pulled chicken taco was great, but little heat.
I sat and listen to another table ask what a chimichanga was and then ordered one. When the waiter brought it out– they argued that is not what they ordered and demanded something else. I feel sorry for service people sometimes & realized why the lack of seasoning when they are trying to make all customers happy.
But, I would liked to have been asked how spicy if little was being added. Or, I would give more hot sauce choices.
The hours on the menu are insane– but if you are looking for a Mexican breakfast I would try here.
