Yeah, I concur with my Unilocal colleagues — this location is probably one of the weaker QT experiences for the general, driving public. However, this QT reminds of a story book that my mom used to read to me with these great pictures … but, the title escapes me. The story is of this quaint little cottage built in the country, but as time passes by the big bad city reaches out to engulf the poor cottage. The cottage goes from being happy to being sad then almost crushed by the oppressive weight of the urban jungle. Then, descendants of the couple who built the cottage save the poor house and have it evacuated from the city and taken out to another quaint countryside scene — happiness returns. So, while I can’t say that I’ve ever seen this QT smile or frown or even shed a tear, I do remember back when I used to bring my Model T out here for some gasoline, many decades ago. [Okay, it wasn’t a Model T, but it was decades ago.] Back in the day [and that day was a Thursday, by the way], the Mid-Rivers Mall Dr exit was outer bounds of the St Louis Metro-city, and when I would drive in our out of this fair City, I’d stop at this QT because it was the last stop before Kingdom City [about 100 miles west], and had/has great gas prices. I imagine this is why one experiences the hassle of tango-ing with tractor trailers, as when the QT was first built, it was the Wright City/Truck Stop weigh point for rigs moving into, out of, and through STL [and was brought to you by the number 3.29 and the letters Q and T]. Nowadays, MIdRivers Mall Drive is the center of suburban sprawl — no longer the sleepy town, which is a prerequisite for landing a truck stop. Even as a weaker member of the QT family — this discount is largely influenced by the convenience issues already brought forward by my esteemed colleagues — it is still a QT. The shopping experience, including fuel pricing, is consistent and positive.

This QT is off 70. But I’d not suggest getting off the highway for this one, unless you do not like fighting for space with an 18-wheeler or bus loads of snot nosed brats screaming for a BK meal and chocolate shake as they are returning from a field trip. The lot is shared with the Burger King and there is a separate area for big rigs. Getting back onto the outer road, no matter which direction you are headed, I would suggest going gout the lower end. You can see the traffic better and most people are rolling over each other to get out the upper end. I am giving 3 stars due solely upon the parking lot. It may seem a minor issue, unless you have experienced the joy of it. But I doubt there is anything they can do to ease the plight of exiting their lot.

This is one of the most dificult QT’s to get in and out of parking lot wise. It shares an opening to the service road with BK and they also have a read section for Big Rigs so you are fighting all kinds of big trucks and cross traffic for BK. Not exactly a mood killer but it gets hairy sometimes.
