Abercrombie Park

Our dog loved it here! Clean and lot’s of space and walking and running area’s! I like the water area also!

I live right near this neighborhood park. It’s a nice slice of old Boca Ciega Bay, there is a walk straight out to the water and a boardwalk you can get a little taste for old florida jungle in the middle of the city. Unfortunately the place has been mostly taken over by unleashed dogs and dog poop. I would like to take my son, but I’m afraid a dog bite might just make him afraid of dogs and possibly hate them. Being a dog owner myself I’m not sure most dog owners respect the power dogs possess or realize walking comfortably around strangers dogs off leash isn’t pleasant for others. I wish everyone would respect their dogs, themselves and others by leasing their dogs when visiting this neighborhood park. Hopefully the city of St. Pete will step up and enforce the leash law here, until then this park isn’t that safe for my kid.

This park is gorgeous, but I couldn’t find a bathroom and felt everyone should know to go before you visit this cute little waterside park.

Gorgeous park on the water and very dog friendly. I frequent this park on a regular basis with my Labradoodle. What I like about the park is that you walk with the dog down to the water, which is about a block or two. On the way, your dog can run and play with other dogs. Some people let their dogs off leash, which the County prohibits, however, you are far enough away from the road that it’s pretty safe to do so. I have taken my dog to dog parks that are fenced, and I found that dogs who frequent those places tend to be territorial. This played out on the second visit to a fenced dog park with my overly friendly dog being attacked viciously by another dog. So, I stay clear of those places. I love Abercrombie and find there is something for everyone here. Dog lovers or just nature lovers. At the end of the walk, you are greeted by a beautiful beachfront on Boca Ciega Bay. Sometimes you can see manatees and dolphins off shore and always beautiful birds. It’s a lovely place!
