Just got into homebrewing, I was in the area so I decided to stop by! These guys are very knowledgeable and drew me up a great recipe for exactly what I wanted! Great customer service and reasonable prices! I wont recommend stopping by to all homebrewers!

The candy shop of home brew. Great place to get all of your home brew needs. The staff is extremely attentive and friendly. The have everything from all grains to mash tons. Definitely go and check it out if you enjoy beers.

Avid brew company is a Brewers supply store that has decided to start small bats micro brews for sale. I went there to meet friends and try one of their first bruise available which was a coconut ale. I don’t drink commercial beer very often so as far as the avid brew compared to some of the other local microbrews it was one of my favorites. I think being able to brew in small batches helps them to be creative in the types of beer that they make. I can’t wait to go back and try what day have made lately. I hope they attempt a good autumn style brew like possibly pumpkin!

It is quite refreshing to have such a nice home brew and hydroponics store right off from downtown St Pete. They have a nice selection of grains, hops, and yeast as well as equipment. If they don’t have it, they will get it for you. They also teach classes on home brewing if you are interested in learning. Their hydroponic side is also very cool. They stock many different growing setups, lights, m and nutrients The owner Jeff and his father are usually the ones there and are always nice and helpful. If you have not been here, make sure to stop by. They are right under the overpass between Central & 1^st S. The street parking on 1^st S is a little rough with the traffic, but there is parking in back if you head down the alley.

I came to a brew class with my boo thang on Friday and we had a great time. We learned how to make a pale ale and learned the process of home brewing… obviously drinking the whole time. I forgot the guys name that taught the class (not due to my incoherency) but he was so pleasant and knows his stuff. I highly recommend them!

I attended one of Avid Brew Co’s Beer School Classes recently and was extremely impressed with it. They were open to any questions no matter what skill level they were coming from and covered a wide range of things during the 3 hour class. We made a Berliner Weisse! There were plenty of beer tastings provided from other brews made in house. Loved it! Even if you’re not ready to start brewing at home, still a worthwhile and interesting experience, and if you are they have everything you need at very fair prices, to get you started.

This place deserves a lot more good reviews. The location is in kind of a sketchy place near The Trop, but it’s not really bad during the day. Took the brewing class this past weekend and had a great time. The owner is extremely knowledgeable, laid back, and creates a great experience for an afternoon. The store itself has a ton of supplies (most of which I have no idea what they do). I’m a beer fan, so home brewing has always seemed like a cool idea. Girlfriend actually bought me the class as a surprise. I’ll definitely be back whenever I actually start brewing. If you like beer, definitely check out this spot.

A few days ago I attended the brewing class at Avid and was thoroughly impressed with the experience. The class lasted over three hours and covered every aspect of home brewing.
Since there are waiting periods with some of the steps, the class worked on several different batches of beer. From scratch we started a Choco Porter which made it to the carboy to begin it’s two week fermentation period. A batch that was started weeks earlier got transferred from one unit to another for a second fermentation. Yet a third batch of beer from weeks prior was bottled by the class allowing us to get some hands-​on experience.
Jeff was a great teacher that was clearly enthusiastic about the subject matter at hand. His knowledge was impressive as well as his patience with questions. The class got to sample several completed beers from previous classes. The smoked porter was excellent as was one of the pale ales.
The Avid store is well stocked with all your hydroponic growing and home brewing needs. I bought sanitizer, a carboy brush and an auto-​siphon for my next home brewing project. The prices were comparable if not better than what I’ve seen online which is quite a feat. The difference is that the store is staffed with professionals that really care about the success of your projects and are enthusiastic about helping and encouraging experimentation. I expect to go back to Avid in a few weeks to stock up on grains. Check this place out sign up for a class!
