Engine No9

Engine No9 has delicious and unique burgers. The restaurant is open, but does not have their full menu available yet. Their «small» menu has more than enough to keep you satisfied. From creative burgers to Blue Fin Tuna Sashimi to Siracha Crusted Hot Wings to exotic mushroom risotto, the menu is unique. I have had the pleasure of tasting two burgers and one hot dog and they are the best that I have had in St. Pete.
The Heart Attack (I am uploading a picture to Unilocal) was my Husbands burger and has fried egg, three slices of American cheese, four slices of bacon and chipotle mayo for 9.95 with one side. I was amazed at just how good this burger was. I am normally opposed to egg on a cheeseburger, but it went really well. My Husband loved this so much that he ordered it on our second visit as well.
The Chubby Duck has Caramelized Onions, Pancetta, Brie, fois gras & duck kracklins for 10.95 with one side. I must admit that this is the most adventurous thing I have ever ordered from a menu. It sounded too interesting not to order. It was surprisingly delicious. The fois gras was particularly scary. It is duck liver that is sort of creamy like brie cheese. After my first bite or two, I realized the burger was delicious and I was over my fear. The duck kracklin really made this burger when you got a piece of it. It had a very distinctive flavor that lingers in your mouth and makes you want more. I ordered tater tots for my side. I was impressed with how well seasoned they were. I would definitely order them again if their sweet potato fries weren’t so amazing (read on for more info…).
On my second trip to Engine No9 I had to try one of their 9 inch hot dogs. I had seen a picture of one and it looked delicious (I am uploading a picture of mine to Unilocal). I ordered the «No.9» Dog: a 9 inch beef weiner, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, bacon & cheese for 7.50 with side. For my side I choose sweet potato fries. This hot dog is unbelievable. It comes smothered in toppings and you can’t even see the hot dog! It reminded me of a hot dog I ordered at the world’s famous Pinks in LA; It was that good. The hot dog itself was huge in diameter and length. The mushrooms were marinated large portabellas and they definitely did not skimp on the bacon. It was messy to eat, but so worth it. The sweet potato fries were worth the money on their own. They were thinly cut with a strong sweet potato flavor and they were perfectly cooked. They were covered in some sort of oil and seasoning that brought out the flavor of the sweet potatoes. I will order them every time from here on out.
Engine No9 also has a nice large bar. At this time there are only a few beers on tap, but I think they may have more in the future with their full menu.
We have had two different people to wait on us and both were great. They were fast and kept our drinks full. Our first trip we even had a few people come up to us and ask us our opinion and see how we felt about the place. It was simple; we are in love.
