Best fried chicken in town, hands down. Super fast and friendly service. And the prices are extremely reasonable. Sides are ok, but that amazing chicken makes up for it! And I can’t dine there without ordering hush puppies! A must try for all.

I just don’t know how to rate this place. There isn’t a fresh morsel of food in it. Everything is from a can or frozen. Everything is salted so that it can be overwhelming at times. I should be telling you to stay far, far away from it. And yet … and yet I used to go & enjoy my meals. Use a coupon — there are so many it’s a shame not to. Get something fried. If it’s fried it’s not bad.(The fried chicken is not bad at all.) But, please don’t go & think it’s going to be good cooking. It’s going to be comfort food & it’s going to be dirt cheap.

This was the first time I visited Po’folks and I was pleasantly surprised. I stopped on friday night for a to-go 8 piece fried chicken box and was super excited to try a new spot. Upon entering the place kinda reminded me of a CrackerBarrel, and I was greeted by really nice and helpful cashier staff. They threw in lots of napkins and a few sides of hot sauce and I was headed home to dig in. I LOVE fried chicken and get it a lot. I was really hoping Po’folks chicken would make up for a recent disappoint offering from publix. After just one visit I’m fully ready to say that Po’folks fried chicken is the best I’ve had in long time, and better than Publix. The key reason is better initial chicken quality: their pieces are larger and less fatty. The breading is actually very similar to Publix, and tastes virtually the same. But since Pofolks’ chicken doesn’t have so much excess fat and skin there is less excess breading. The chicken itself was super moist and wasn’t too oily. I called ahead and placed my takeout order and the it was super hot when I arrived. I’m not sure if i’ll dine at the full restaurant, but from now on I will get my fried chicken at Po’folks.

After a long, hard day, this was a nice new(to me) sit down restaurant to try. While I would not consider anything on the menu healthy, everything I had was tasty and had a true Southern cooking flavor to it. Plus the server was very good at his job. The servings are huge, so come with an appetite. I enjoyed the Fisherman’s Platter(fried bone-in catfish, shrimp, and clams) with fries, apples, and hush puppies. My boyfriend had the country fried steak with gravy, mashed potatoes, and green beans. While I liked my fries, I wish I had gotten mashed potatoes – they were quite good, and I liked the gravy. The cornbread was great; light and fluffy, and made even more tasty by the addition of honey on the side. We really wanted to try a dessert, but there was so much food that we were too full by the end of our meal and ended up splitting my fried apples. I liked this place a lot, and will definitely be eating here again(after some exercise to work off that big meal)!

the only draw back in this review is that me and my family have to drive 124 mi to have lunch here at this place. but you know the place has to be dynamite for a man to drive almost 200mi to have a meal at this place. we used to have one in ft. Myers however it closed but I love this place the side orders are a little generic but the main entrees are excellent like the chicken… and all of the fish is really good… I try to make it here at least twice a month keep up the good work people and you will always get my business always fast service… great wait staff and overall great food amen

Great value and great place to eat. Called for takeout eight piece chicken and person taking the order was somewhat unfriendly. Upon arrival it was obvious the same person was working the cash register — abrupt and moody. When another person brought out the chicken from the kitchen she was friendly, happy — typical of the staff I have always encountered. Good news was the food was great as always. Would have given five stars if not for the interaction with the young woman answering the phone/working the register

From Boston looking for some home cooking and we found the place! Not fancy but really good. Priced beautifully as well. Our server Mary was a doll and moved like the wind and always had a smile on her face! The only drawback is there is no beer or wine so if you enjoy that with your meal this is not the place for you! But if you love good home cooking THISISTHEPLACEYOUWANTTOGO! Thank you Rita and David Heading home to Boston

Best Comfort Food in St. Pete! Everything about this family fun comfort food restaurant is great. The food is great, the service is good, and the price is right. What else could you ask for? The all you can eat specials during the week like the Country Fried Steak, the Fish, and the Fried Chicken, are a must do. Everything is smoking hot and fresh and selection of sides is better than I’ve seen anywhere. You can change-up the sides as you go which is just amazing. I just can’t say more than, if you are in town, you need to try this place. You will not be disappointed.

Came here with my family around dinner time, sat right down & waited 30 mins before walking out the door. This sucks because I have heard their food is great and I will never be back. every server in the restaurant walked by our table and didnt ask if we needed anything at all. Horrible service.

Good fried pickles, horrid chicken fried steak, just edible beef liver. MOSTDIDSAPOINTINGCHICKENFRIEDSTEAKEVER. Two little square patties that looked more like fried fish from a fast food restaurant. Sides were ok… strawberry cheese cake sucked. Server was nice but that’s where the compliments end for her. Food was priced cheap, right with the quality. We might have gone in a little too excited, the menu looked so good. If I would have gone in thinking it would be a KNOCKOFFCRACKERBARREL, I probably wouldn’t have been so disappointed. GREATPLACEFORCHEAPPRICESANDBELOWAVERAGEFOOD. I eat out all the time and leave bad reviews maybe once every two years. GREATPLACEFORSENIORCITIZENS.

Food cooked perfectly very fast service(thanks to Kristal) Big portions I had a appetizer, fried chicken dinner two sides and your choice of bread comes with the dinner and a dessert for under 20 bucks not bad these days. A very pleasant experience. And I’m back again brought the whole family. You can’t go wrong with this place Saturday all you can eat Country Fried Steak for ten bucks. I truly enjoy this place awesome staff great food and the prices you can’t beat. But try it for your self and I’m sure you will agree

Huge portions, cheap and tasty. It’s packed on a Sunday! The service was friendly and genuine. No complaints about the turkey and dressing plate except maybe a little more cranberry sauce? ;) Sweet tea was good, but water tastes weird. I’m a fan.

Our lovely Airbnb host left out some St. Pete brochures and maps for us. The coupon for Pofolks caught my eye. With a great name like PoFolks, I knew I had to try it out. For about $ 15 we had a lovely, sit-down fried chicken lunch. We each got a fried thigh and drumstick with at least two sides each. The meat was juicy and tasted fresh. Much better than the fast food fried chicken places. The light and crispy batter on the chicken even rivals some of the more fancier fried chicken restaurants out there. While there could have been more spices in the batter(maybe because I’m used to Popeye’s spicy chicken) it was such a great overall. As for the sides, I think if you’re careful with your choices you will be satisfied. Fried okra and hush puppies were great. Greens were also good. The french fries were satisfactory. They give you the check at the table, but you actually pay at the front cashier. If I’m ever near a Pofolks restaurant again, I’ll definitely stop by.

I love me some Po’Folks. Being born and raised in the redneck riviera I have had my share of Po’Folks over the years. When I moved to Saint Pete I was pleasantly surprised to find a restaurant here! Though, I was skeptical of the quality of this one. Luckily this one proved me wrong. The food was exactly how it should be. I ordered the fried catfish with cabbage and okra. The cabbage was cooked super tender and seasoned the way it should be. I wish they gave me more. The catfish on the other hand was given to me in excess. I had enough for at least another meal. No complaints though. Bottom line, If you are looking for a true southern dinner or lunch you have got to come try this place.

I wasn’t expecting a fine dining experience when I walked in, but I expected more than I got. They promote home cooking and serve green beans from a can!!! The fried chicken was seriously overrated; because it had no kick to it. Tasted only fried flower. The décor was tacky. Fake flower arrangements??? My advice if you want good home cooking, stay home!

We’re on vacation and our Florida friends brought us here. Wow! This food was so good. Flavorful and not dry or oily. Had the Blue Ribbon Chicken and my BF had the Catfish. Both had Cole slaw and Mac and cheese. The BlackBerry Cobbler was good too!! We were really satisfied. Definitely will be visiting this place on our next trip and will recommend friends to come. Only issue cashier girl(young) didn’t know what she was doing.

I hate to disagree with the majority but I just have to be honest. I’ve had more flavorful, juicy and tender chicken at other locations. The service was great and the prices were very very reasonable. Unfortunately the food was very bland. The batter of my fried chicken was not cooked completely. The appetizer were the best part of the visit. The fried green tomatoes, fried pickles and hush puppies were pretty good ! The rest of my entrée is not worth mentioning. The décor is not outdated but it just goes for the theme of the restaurant. I wouldn’t be returning despite the good service and prices. I like to taste what I’m eating.

It has been many many years since I’ve been here, I believe the last time they served their drinks in mason jars. That’s besides the point, lol! Holy portions! I can tell you they want you to take a to-go box home! I started with the fried pickles, perfection, perfectly fried extra crunchy and the ranch it came with was excellent. For the entrée I had the kountry combo fried steak and popcorn shrimp, with fries, coleslaw and hush puppies. The popcorn shrimp was good(kind of hard to mess that up) country fried steak was average, the gravy that went with it was kind of bland. The hush puppies were probably the best I’ve ever had! Overall I was very happy with my meal, by far stuffed! The half chicken meal is enough for 4 people! Holy wow, I’ll post pictures. 3 huge pieces of chicken extra crispy with good flavor. Really the only complaint about the plate was the cornbread, no flavor to it at all. All in all the service was great, the atmosphere was different, great for kids especially mine(they are loud), price was average compared to other resturant’s, I would for sure return here!

I wish I could give this place five stars, because this chicken is one of the best I’ve had this side of the state line. But the sides are so bland and lame that I could just stamp this review with a three star rating. However, because of the very efficient service and the hostess attentiveness, it is worthy of a three and a half star rating, or four stars. Like I said, the fried chicken is really good. It is very well cooked, moist and tasty, and with lots of crunchy skin. It has a very light taste and it’s covered in a very light batter. Also, for fried chicken, I think it’s the least greasy I’ve had in a while. The sides, on the other hand, are not so great. I had ordered green beans and they tasted like if they were fresh out of a can. The side of corn bread was just flavorless, and another side of red beans and rice was just bleh. I am not the only one who feels this way though. My companion also felt that the chicken was excellent, but the sides were terrible, fried green tomatoes in this case. We also overheard the table next to us with a similar complain regarding the fried green tomatoes. With that said, I must mention the x factor in this equation: the bottom dollar. Yes, this place is not expensive at all for the amount of food served. In my case, I got a side of french fries(yes, those were good), half a chicken, three more sides and a drink, and it was under $ 15. That is crazy cheap. And that is why this place is packed with retired couples, seniors with their families and elderly people. This is not the hang out after going to church, this is just the place people on a tight budget come to eat. PoFolks is not the trendy place, it may as well pass for a retirement home. But none of that bothers me. It all actually gives me a sense of fulfillment. I enjoyed sitting with seniors, seeing them savor their meals and eat with no hurry, or worry. PoFolks certainly gives this community a chance to have a decent meal at a decent place, and for that I give them a tip of my hat. Good job. In other words, if lame sides are what keeps all these people able to sit, with me, in a dinning room, so be it. I’ll stick to the chicken only. And the french fries. So there you have it. If you are ready for an existentialist crisis, or are not afraid of old age, and if you can stick to fried chicken with a double side of french fries, PoFolks may just be okay with you. It is great chicken, and they are alright people too.

We normally go here with my grandparents after church with the family and its a nice little spot to get some food. I always get the Large Country Salad with Fired Chicken and honey mustard. Excellent meal that is always really light and delicious. It also either comes with a bread stick or a biscuit. The bread sticks are normally not that fresh but the biscuit is always an awesome way to finish lunch.

Had lunch here for the first time. Not too impressed by the food. While the chicken was very good, the sides were not as good as other restaurants we’ve tried. The mashed potatoes tasted like they were made from dry powdered mix, the biscuits over baked and not very flavorful. The corn on the cob was soggy. But the service was excellent and the prices were very reasonable and the food came quickly.

My Aunt tells me that Po’Folks used to be a nationwide chain but now is only confined to a few places down South. Pity. I stopped in here recently upon visiting some family in Clearwater and the food, service, and atmosphere was simply fantastic! I now know why this place is worth the drive. I have never in my life had fried chicken so delicious. Nice and crispy without being over breaded, and super succulent. My table manners were probably akin to a caveman that I ate so ravenously after I got going. The sides of green beans and mashed potatoes with gravy was an excellent compliment as well. Comfort food x100! The menu is also diverse enough for about anyone’s taste. I sampled a few bites of fish and chicken fried steak from family members and it was superb as well. Also of note was the friendly and impeccable customer service from our waitress. Her name escapes me, but she was knowledgeable, attentive without being disruptive, and added to an already enjoyable experience. I was really tempted to try some dessert since everything else I had was so delicious, but I was simply too stuffed to even think about sharing one. If you leave this place hungry, you have a serious problem. Prices were also very affordable. I will definitely be back upon my next visit to the Tampa area, but might have to hit the gym a little bit harder for the next day or so afterwards! This place is worth the sacrifice,
