Rosie’s Diner

I ate here with with my parents and we were all a bit bummed out afterwards. We ended our meal discussing why anyone would eat here when there’s a Bob Evans, IHOP, and Peach’s nearby.
I ordered a grilled cheese, since there were only about three items on the «lunch menu.» I wasn’t surprised to find that it was just a piece of Kraft cheese, but I suppose I was still a little disappointed. Oftentimes places that don’t look like much end up surprising you with really good homemade food, but that wasn’t the case here. I mean, it wasn’t a bad grilled cheese, for whatever that’s worth, but that doesn’t mean a lot when you’re talking about Kraft and some bread.
The sandwich was served with fries, which were obviously frozen and thrown in a stove. In fact, one of my fries hadn’t been cooked and when I accidentally took a bite of it, it tasted like dish water.
My mom got a special called the Italian skillet. It was basically an egg served over some store-​bought pepperoni and potatoes, or something like that. Needless to say she wasn’t impressed. My dad got an omelette which he described as «Good, but, I mean, it’s an omelette. Kinda hard to screw up an omelette.»
It’s also worth noting that there weren’t only about two other people in the restaurant when we arrived, and it took us about 40 minutes to get our food after ordering. The restaurant’s whole atmosphere is also bland. It seems like some effort was made to give the place an Americana vibe by throwing some license plates on the wall and playing country music in the background, but it also seems like they gave up halfway through trying.
So I suppose my issue isn’t necessarily that the food is awful, but that everything is so mediocre that the place has no real reason to exist. At least if it had been a truly terrible experience it would have made for a fun story, but instead the whole experience was just unremarkable.

Overall, a very average experience. Service was quick, but I was also the only one there at the time.
I ordered the Apple Cinnamon Pancakes, a side of ham, and 2 eggs.
The pancakes were unimpressive themselves, but the apple cinnamon sauce was pretty good. I could do better at home though.
The ham was just 2 slices of deli-​type ham that had been grilled. Ehhh.
The eggs were very good though. I’m pretty picky about my eggs, but these did not disappoint.
If I end up coming back, I’d head straight for an egg dish rather than anything else.
This is based solely on breakfast– haven’t tried their lunch menu.
