Southern Style Buffet

Update — The place is closed, for sale sign out front. Another casualty at this location, maybe it’s jinxed

Just awful. Really. I really don’t understand the other reviews; this food was bland, tasteless and reminded me of the microwave. The «steaks» were pre-​formed, all in the same shape, all with the exact same grill marks in the exact same place. Kinda like what you would see in a «Hungry Man» dinner. Mashed potatoes were stone cold. Fried fish, which I was looking forward to, was also cold, and the batter had gone limp after sitting for so long. The ranch dressing tasted «off», and the cole slaw tasted of vinegar. The meat loaf was pretty good. The buffalo wings were mushy, like they had been over baked. They def were not fried. I asked the waitress who owned the place, and she rolled her eyes and said «Mexicans». I have nothing at all against Mexicans, but in this case it odes not seem like «Southern Style» is their forte. Nothing tasted «southern». It was either overcooked or unseasoned. The waitress apologized several times more, but it really was not her fault, of course. I asked her if she had tried the food, and she said «mmmm hmmm» and then rolled her eyes and laughed. She quietly said to me «If this place was owned by a southern white lady, or a black lady, you KNOW this place would be on point». I have to agree with her. No way was this meal worth $ 10 for dinner; I really wish I had just gone to Steak and Shake for a $ 4 meal and I would have been happier. The iced tea was pretty good LOL. I HATE wasting food but after going up and making four trips to the buffet trying various things, thinking that there has to be something worth eating, I just gave up and left. Maybe it’s better at breakfast time.

First time I went here there was no AC they said it was broke and they will be getting it fixed. The food was just ok but had to get out fast because it was way to hot inside to enjoy. Originally I gave it a 3 star but now I am giving it a 1 star and they don’t deserve that! Still no AC in the place. I think they do it on purpose so you don’t stay and eat too much! Not going to return!
