This place is kewl. It’s got a nice 1950 – 90 aesthetic can’t really tell but I like the atmosphere. Nice personnel good prices. Had the mega meat omelette and it was delicious. The sides are sort of bland, nothing special, I would still recommend this place to my 2 or 3 followers.

Love this diner! Came here twice in a week. I had a sausage, egg and cheese sandwich on wheat bread and it was delicious! My bf had the blue plate special(meatloaf) and cleared his plate! For dessert I had a chocolate milkshake and loved it! One of my new favorite places to eat at! Great for lunch time.

This is a diner and it can be a hit or miss. This visit was a hit. I ordered for the first time the egg salad sandwich with fries. The portion of egg salad was so huge it was falling out of the bread(I could have made two sandwiches!!!). Perfect place for a quick bite when out shopping in the area. And I should mention the staff was super nice and attentive.

Amazing chicken pot pie. Rich and creamy filling with big chunks of chicken. Crust is just right not too thick, but flaky and delicious. We also got a Ruben sandwich and it was very good.

Food is good the only thing is the yellow squash was over done. The chicken fried steak was really good and a good portion on the blue plate special.

This place was good, food was tasty and fresh. I had a mushroom omelet with cheese and my daughter had a ham sandwhich. The main complaint I had was that the biscuits were awful. They tasted like microwaved pillsbury biscuits. The restaurant also seemed a little run down. Stay away from the biscuits and it’s good though.

Had the english muffin breakfast, ham with hot tea. Everything was good. The breakfast also included avacado, tomato, artichokes, and olives. LiptonTea was decent. The string fries was actually hasbrown which was a different twist. Waitress was really nice and even offered to pack my tea to go. The decorations inside the restaurant were authentic even though from the outside it looks new. There is plenty of parking area outside. I did not hear any music so not sure if they any oldies but goodies tunes available.

I would like to think I hit them at a bad time. Service was slow and the waitress was grouchy, stating she had no time for small talk, they were short handed, when we tried to make pleasant conversation while ordering. .well alright then. The food took a long time getting there, it was around noon, and getting pretty busy. I’ll give them that. The food was okay but did not taste freshly prepared. The room was a little grungy looking.

Are you feeling a little nostalgic for family? Well, this place is so personable! Most of the morning patrons are regulars and know the waitresses by name. I stopped in by myself and felt right at home. The California Omelette with mushrooms and avocado was alright. It was served with grits and toast. They offered white bread, wheat, sourdough, or a biscuit. I asked for extra cheese and some sausage. However, the waitress brought it out with a lot of unmelted cheese on top, but offered to take it back for melting. It was on the small size and really just an average omelette, but I would much rather have had a Texas size omelette with hearty portions of cheese, avocado, and mushrooms.

Food and choices are remarkable. Service is quick and friendly. Never had a bad experience. Visited today, mothers day, and was given a beautiful rose. Thank you a million times. One of my new favorite places.

Okay so its not the cleanest place… but other than that I like Avalon. I usually order some type of breakfast or cheese fries. My mother loves it here and she loves their dinner options and ALWAYS gets a milkshake. Of course the kids love the breakfast options. The servers are hit or miss, but mostly hit. Its not the Ritz people but nobody has ever been rude to me either… usually just super slow service. Overall, good food and mediocre service so don’t come in a rush.

My friend and I had lunch here today. There was plenty of seating and the server approached us quickly. I had a grilled chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries — it was great! My friend got the blue plate special for Thursday(pork) and said it was good. I would definitely come back. There is a lot of variety on the menu.

I LOVE this place! My husband and I are definitely regulars now. We’ve always received great service and delicious hot food. My personal favorites are the breakfast burger and the chicken tender basket. YUM! As a NJ transplant iit’s nice to have a dinner line this that’s reminiscent of real NJ /NY diners. Stacey and the other girls have always been awesome when we’re there.

We had a very pleasant experience at this location. The server was attentive and nice. Our food was delicious, much better than we expected based on the other reviews. My husband said the only down fall was their hours and I agree(stay open later, please). We will be back. Especially since the hubs can get his banana split fix.

The food here is great. My only complaint is that I don’t like being seated at the back of the restaurant. It’s dark, cold and unwelcoming.

Following my three strikes rule, it’s time to get out the paddle once more and spank Avalon Diner. The last several visits have produced burgers full of gristle & watery malts. After the last burger I ate there, I was queazy all evening. Hubby had dental work and wanted something soft, so we came here for dinner. For the second time in a row, there was only one harried waitress in a packed diner. The first time was poor Linda last Tuesday around 3pm. There wasn’t even a cook for the first 10 minutes after I ordered! At least she served with a smile. Friday night around 8:30 pm, it was seat yourself, so we did. After 10 minutes the lone server, who I’d never had before, finally brought the menus and her understandably poor tude. She put her hands up before we could say boo, and said, «Look, I’m here alone and we are slammed. I have 2 to-go orders to do first, so it’s going to be awhile.» She then turned and stomped off. No water, no apologies – nada. I looked at the other diners’ irritated demeanor and decided to exit the drama stage left. Tried Ihop where there were actually multiple waiters, albeit not exactly on the ball. I’m sure we ate and were home long before we would have gotten any service at Avalon. This is still a good place to go during peak times like Sunday breakfast/brunch – especially when Richard is there. Otherwise, until management learns to properly manage staff, I’d skip it. Oh, and for the love of god, buy some decent hamburger meat and put some ice cream back in your malts. Both used to be so good!

No complaints here. Went here with my sister and brother in law for breakfast. I’m a HUGE breakfast fan so I expect a lot out of my breakfast places. I ordered chicken fried steak(which came with eggs, potatoes, and biscuits all covered in delicious white gravy), sister had veggie breakfast quesadilla, and brother had chicken and waffles. All of our dishes were great. Next time I will be getting something from the burger and fries menu. I saw a bunch of the burgers coming out to other people and I was a little jealous. I wasn’t expecting a whole lot and I certainly wasn’t disappointed in the slightest. This is possibly the best white gravy I’ve ever had – and I’ve had a lot of gravy in my day. I was happy with our service as well, but I guess people may not understand that most of the time at a diner you aren’t going to get the same type of service that you get at a fancy restaurant. He took our order, brought our drinks, the food came out relatively quick and correctly, so I’m not sure what there would be for me to complain about. Definitely check it out if you’re a breakfast fan!

When I walked in and saw the roof was leaking onto the floor, it should have been my first clue. The bathrooms being a total dump should have been my second. But we sat down, got ‘greeted’ by our server(in fairness it was more like a grunt), asked for a butterscotch malt and were informed there was no butterscotch. — We had to get up and get our own silverware — There was an eggshell in my hubby’s Philly cheese steak — The onion ring batter didn’t stick to the onion and they came in a pool of oil — Any time the people behind me moved, I felt like I was on a roller-coaster — Server wasn’t friendly — Wait for food was beyond tolerable Good things: The hotdog We won’t be back.
