Stamford’s Alive at 5 concert series did not live up to its hype of past years. A well attended event on Thursday 10 July by college students and families with small children – deafening array of electronic sound… Disappointed by inaccessibility to delectables by surrounding restaurants. Will be better next year.

Jazz Up July Review: 7÷9÷14 Bacon Brothers Jazz up is a laid back experience compared to the block party scene of Thursdays. The gate fee is $ 10.00 and they are much more lax about what you bring into the park. They do supply some folding chairs nearest to the stage but you can bring something more comfortable with you and many people also had coolers. There’s also a good amount of sani-cans behind Curlys so theres no need to borrow a rest room from a neighboring restuarant. The drink prices work on a ticket system and probably aren’t worth the up charge on terrible bud products. $ 2 for water and $ 7 for beer/wine. I hear that Alive will have a few other options though. The sound was pretty good however a little over blown at times, my ears were ringing by the end of the show. They placed a speaker in the middle of the park to get the music out to everyone which is good, but the front of the stage has the main system which they really amplify, we’ll see if they adjust since this was the first show. Some lyrics were trumped over by instruments at times. The Rain… there was a downpour and quick thunderstorm which was being monitored prior to its arrival however a large majority stayed under a tree? while most people rushed to the service tents. They made several announcements to seek shelter in the garages but that didn’t happen. Yes everyone was wet and the show had to be briefly stopped but the Bacon Brothers showed much appreciation and extended their set and cameback for a very nice encore. All in all a great show for a low cost with close seating. Once the rain stopped we were able to move to the front with our dry chairs, but originally sat only 10 rows back with showing up at 6:30. Future suggestion is to keep it smoke free. Generally most people were not smoking but it only took one person to ruin it with their cigar…
