I was just in their bakery side and the front girl is the rudest cashier I’ve Encountered. I walked in and she completely ignored the fact that I’m standing there. What type of business are these people running??? Customers come first!!! No thank you when transaction was done!!! Nunca en mi vida había teñido experiencia más desagradable. Bad bad customer service!!!

This is a Guatemalan restaurant in Stamford. It is an establishment that’s mostly visited by local Guatemalan immigrants. Being new to this geographical area, we were not sure if the area of town was safe. Well, it isn’t in let’s say in the«best» part of town. But we are adventurous for good food. and went during daylight to play it safe. Parking is tough. It is on a small, narrow street that got a lot of traffic so it was difficult to park… street parking is available. In terms of the food, it was pretty good and especially for the price. We had Tamarind drink, fried platanos, a pupusa revuelta(meat and cheese), large chicken tamale, meat platter of pork and skirt steak(meats were a little overcooked but the marinade was tasty and delicious). It comes with rice, beans and salad too. What’s nice is the amount of food they give you. the two of us ate really well for $ 18 total. It is a small place, like a family run kitchen, but they decorated and remodeled so sitting there for dinner feels cozy. overall, I’d choose Chapines over some of the more expensive(but perhaps more sophisticated) «Westernized» Latin American restaurants(like Brazlian food @ Valencia in Norwalk). I don’t like to pay $ 20 a plate when I can get similar type of food for $ 10.
