Stamford Dojo is a great place to learn Judo or ground fighting(Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu or Né-Waza). They have Nationally Ranked Judo fighters who are on the US Roster at training there regularly, and a coaching staff that grew up training under Kiyoshi Shiina Sensei, who brought Judo to Brooklyn, NY in 1967. All levels train here, new white belts to elite level Black Belts, several BJJ players who want to learn how to throw, good Judo fighters who want to improve their ground fighting, etc. The school is very Japanese styled and classes follow the Japanese Judo University order, where you stretch, do some drills and learn new techniques, then get into fighting and actually applying what you learned. The dojo is not huge, but big enough to get individual instruction from the Sensei’s and still be able to fight and move around the mat. Head Sensei Shiina resides in Brooklyn and passed this dojo down to Chris Angle Sensei. There are around 5 blackbelt instructors there to help people out as well. Stamford Dojo continues Shiina Sensei’s legacy and represents by far the best Judo in CT, very competitive with some of the top clubs around the country.
