As always, delightfully helpful and friendly service! Thank you Tuan for help today and your ever polite and professinal service. despite the few drawbacks of not having an account at a big bank, I would never leave a credit union for another institutions. For the slight gains, which I have never found to be signifcant, I think there is so much to lose in doing so. Come in during normal business hours for fantastic help and service!

My partner and I were searching for a car loan, but due my short credit history we were having a hard time finding an affordable one. Cindy and other SFCU employees not only helped us with a fantastic loan with as low an APR as it gets, but they also put us in touch with MAP, an auto buying service that got us our new beautiful car at the lowest price in the area (and delivered the car to our doorstep)!
The only condition attached to the loan was that we had to open a FREE account with SFCU, which is really not the worst thing in the world.
I was really unhappy with my other bank that ran my credit report and denied me a loan on account of the fact that I am not a citizen (thanks for affecting my credit for no good financial reason, people) and despite the fact that I have been a client there for 5 years.
The SFCU is the perfect example of a small bank that takes care of their clients and I particularly recommend the Tresidder branch for the patience and availability of its employees.

The service here has been poor, perhaps partly as a result of mismanagement and miscommunication between the large institution I am affiliated with and SFCU.
People that I have written checks to from my SFCU checkbook have been unable to deposit their checks with their banks. When I was locked out of my account, I called customer service five times over the course of a week with no follow-​up via phone or email. One of those times I was directed to the wrong department despite following the appropriate directions on their call center menu. This is from a bank that claims they will get back to you in one business day. The service representative that finally got back to me informed me that I had been given the wrong member number on the day my account was opened.
In addition, SFCU made some «modifications» to their debit card system without advance warning. Some of my peers’ cards were rejected by vendors and they had to call in to member services to fix this problem even though it was a problem created by SFCU, not its customers.
I would also advise against this bank if you are planning to travel because its national and international service locations are quite limited.

The staff at the Tressider Union branch were very helpful in setting up my account with SFCU. I plan to use this branch again soon.

I don’t have a problem with Stanford Federal Credit Union as a whole, however, I have an issue with this particular location. It’s unfortunate, because it’s a convenient location for students who live on campus, particularly those who don’t have a car.
I went to this location to see about getting a loan with a co-​signer. The person at the front desk was helpful, but he didn’t know the answer to my question and went to a woman sitting at a desk. He asked her a question and she snapped at him and then turned toward me and snottily told me that I could only get a loan with a co-​signer if they were a member of Stanford Federal Credit Union.
Needless to say, I left and didn’t return to that branch.

This bank is the only bank that I’ve banked with that wants to control how you balance your checkbook, which I am extremely bad at. They are happy to charge you the fees for returning your checks but they’ll also cancel your ATM «privileges» even though you have money in the bank. In other words, you can make the deposits, but you can’t use the ATM machine to use your money! Another negative aspect to banking with Stanford Credit Union is that there are very few branches available and they are all located in Palo Alto. So, if you live outside of the Stanford community, be prepared to make that communte. Finally, the bank hours does not inlcude Saturdays!!!
