Stanford Memorial Auditorium

We attended a performance by Cirque Mechanics «Pedal Punk» on March 22, 2015. yes we had to park and walk but that was ok. The show was very engaging. The cast was wonderful.
Now the bad stuff. (1) we got to our seats and an older usher woman approached us and said only to us if you take pics or video I will remove you. Yes we had our cell phones but they were in our pockets no way of seeing them. (Rude) (2) We were suppose to go back stage after the show and another older woman told us we could not and we needed to depart immediately. We explained we were invited backstage and she would not hear it.
Some of the cast came out to the lobby and greeted friends, family and guests. When a few asked why we were not backstage we explained the situation. One spoke to the usher who said we had to depart, and her response was EVERYONE has to leave no special services. Now this usher is talking rude to one of the cast members. WOW. with that I don’t think I want to go back.
Yes it was a wonderful theater and a great show, but the rudeness was too much.

A bit scattered and hard to find a «main» buildning.

The grounds here are amazing, almost picture perfect. It made my brothers graduation that much more special. Parking is horrible.

It’s a nice theatre, with good seats, though of course the quality of student productions can leave something to be desired. I’ve sat in the back for David Sedaris, and in the front for Spring Awakening and could see everything from both places. There’s usually plenty of parking nearby… which is funny, because I can never seem to find any for the gym across the street!

Old but elegant as always. I walked past MemAud after being awa y for a few years and the architecture still takes my breath away. Excellent location for a picture if you are touring the Stanford campus — you can get a shot of the majestic fountain and Hoover Tower directly across.

I came here to catch Cornel West speak a few weekends ago. The space inside is gorgeous, with nice and comfy seats. The venue is very clean with a good sound system.
Only thing is parking for a bigger event like this will likely land you in the dirt lot about a half mile away, which isn’t all that bad if it’s a nice day outside.

I went to see Sankai Juku tonight perform their butoh dance piece Tobari. The performance was amazing … unfortunately I could only see about ¼ of the movements on stage. The auditorium is poorly designed. I was seated in the 7^th row orchestra but all I could see were bibs of heads. Other audience members were having similar viewing difficulties based on their constant shifting of heads. Come here knowing that you might have to just close your eyes and enjoy the sounds rather than the sights!

First time to Stanford Memorial Auditorium. It’s a nice theater that can hold close to 2,000. It’s across the street from the Hoover Tower, a fountain in the middle, then the Auditorium. We went to see Aida — the Elton John & Tim Rice’s Broadway show performed by Stanford students. It’s playing for 1 more day, Sat 4÷18÷09. There’s Orchestra seating and Balcony.
Tickets you can buy online for an extra .75c or at the door. If you buy at the door bring CASH or Check — No Credit Cards. $ 20 for general admission is a bargain!
We got Balcony Left, Seats A1 (Aisle) & A3. I thought the seats were fine, though you do have the 3 ft rail right in front of you. Maybe B1 & 3 are better, or Balcony center 114.
Show was from 8:15 (started late, should have been 8pm) to 9:30pm (15 min Intermission) and ended at 10:30pm.
I liked the male lead Radames — played by Alex Nourishad. Nice 6 pack — shirtless in many scenes.
Amneris The Princess played by Gianna Masi has a nice voice.
Aida played by Re Phillips was good too.
Some funny scenes — not sure if on purpose or not.

This is a big general-​use auditorium. There is the odd musical performance here along with a bunch of lectures, Gaieties (the pre-​big game musical), Flicks (movies for people who don’t have cars and are stuck on campus) and not much else. Go to the Stanford Lively Arts website
and see if there’s anything you like.
