I was delightfully surprised by the amount of food there — compared to other dining halls, Stern has many options. I like the burrito bar — although it could have been a bit more salted, it was very filling and probably one of the best meals I had on campus. My friend thoroughly enjoyed the brussel sprouts because of the good balance of flavor. The jalapeño cornbread could use a few more jalapenos, but at least there were some real baked corn kernels in the bread. Overall, it was a good experience, so I think I’ll be coming back.

Stern provides a welcome respite from the standardized menu, in the form of their burrito & bowl station. In a standard dinner, other options were ghormeh sabzi, basmati rice, and roasted brussel sprouts combined nicely in one bowl quite palatably, and I topped a hunk of jalapeño cornbread(with corn baked in!) with chili, extra jalapeños, and fresh tomatoes. There is also house made fresh bread daily. Stern is probably most famous for its burritos and nacho bowls. They have a good array of bean and corn tortilla chips(colorful) and wraps. Seating area is reasonably clean — the side closer to the dish disposal is less well-lit and more crowded, but lends greater privacy as well. Pros and cons. My friend says her custom burrito was filling yet pretty dry and could have used a touch more salt. My other friend got a bowl of nachos and said it was delicious. Later I tried burritos(heavy but satisfying) and bowls(very Chipotle). tl;dr — Nice place for solid(Tex) Mex

Stern has got so much better this year with the burritos bar and all the variety of food… definitely better than arrillaga now! I love the variety of salads/greens/fruits that they have! and also the salmon/mahimahi with mango salsa and guacemole burritos! the line for burritos is always long so make sure you go there either super early or near the closing time

I remember when Stern would take the crown as ‘Dining Hall on Campus’. That was when it was the main dining hall for east campus. However, now that Arillaga has taken over as the main dining hall and Stern has opened up ‘Cardinal Sage’, Stern is vastly improved. I actually find myself saying: «I want to eat at Stern» sometimes when choosing which dining hall to eat at. ‘Cardinal Sage’ is a great option. Latin inspired food like burritos. It is pretty good, and since it is there every day, you know to go to Stern when you are in that mood.

Worse quality food than Wilbur. Friendly staff(especially the head chef). Always runs out of forks and spoons. Location in Stern is good.

opens to 8pm… later than other dining halls. food usually pathetic. make sure you buy the graduate meal plans online. it is cheaper than paying with cash or cardinal dollars.

Four stars for good cheesy bread sticks, blueberry cinnamon oatmeal, grilled veggies, rice, and chicken. It doesn’t get really crowded either, you can usually get a whole entire table to yourself and a group of friends easily, even during peak hours. Seriously one of the best places to eat on the Stanford campus
