We went by today and had a great tasting! The lady working was super friendly and helpful. She gave us some great tips on the area and was very knowledgeable on her product! Def would recommend!

It’s on a beautiful farm. And the host was wonderful and very accommodating. We were able to try all the wines and receive a complimentary glass for eight dollars. I suggest the sweet Deasy. We also took the trail and saw sheep and wine orchards. It was a lovely day at this Vineyard and I would definitely come back. Bravo!

We stayed close by Wisteria Vineyard and were excited to try some local wine. Having a tired 1 year old is not really conducive to wine tasting, so we just swung by to pick up a bottle of the Traminette for a later time. Seeing the pictures, I really would have loved to do a tasting, it looks very quaint and cute. The wine was delicious, unlike any I’ve had. Sweet, but not too sweet.

This is a different twist on your run of the mill winery with just tasting, in that it’s a working farm as well. I can only review the atmosphere kinda since my partner did the tasting and bought the .) and i did not walk around. Bu, t if you did you would see, like commented by other Unilocalers, roosters, chickens, family pets, sheep(which I believe they shear and send out to make into yarn) and believe(hope) in turn sell along with some wooly crafted items. The farm is very rural but the tasting room/patio area was clean. After 3 customers came in asking only for olive oil they apparently processed and bottled, so it must be good and was disappointed so if you just go for this, call head.

Told we would be helped and then waited nearly 30 min with no service or acknowledgment. Left without service.

Beautiful winery nestled in the scenic Shenandoah mountains. Nothing better than walking the grounds of the winery down to the river with a glass of delicious sweet daisy ice wine

Not kid friendly. The sound of farm animals sounded cool to our group of 4 kids age 7 – 9 but owners scolded us for letting kids roam. All animals are fenced in so not sure what the issue was. But this was a bummer as 2 couples hoped to taste some wine while kids explores. Strike 2 — the wine is lame. This is the bygone VA vineyard who caused a drinker to smirk when told VA is a player on the wine scene. Overly sweet, cloying whites. The merlot actually tasted good after the rest. Don’t waste your time here!

Super cute and hospitable! The couple who owns it gave back stories to many of the wines, like explaining why they chose the photo of one of their dogs on the ice wine label. Lots of people were at the tasting counter on a Saturday afternoon, but my friend and I still got attention to details, like when the husband noticed I was interested in one of the wines my friend was tasting(I only got five while she got ten). He gave me a little sip of my own! The Ashtaroot was my fav, which is unlike me to go for white, but it such a light mouth-feel and taste with a very slight sweetness. It seemed perfect for summer. The grounds were beautiful and serene with the pergola of grapes, hidden benches and farm animals roaming about. Many people were scattered throughout, either lounging for a while on the patio with a bottle, or at a picnic table sharing a cheese platter with a couple glasses.(Kudos for offering some food options, which is rare with wineries.) Didn’t plan on going here, but glad my friend(fellow Unilocaler Esther G.) found it when we were in the area because it’s one of my all-time fav wineries/vineyards.

When our original plans to visit the Luray Caverns didn’t pan out(extremely crowded/huge line) we searched for neighboring wineries(on Unilocal,of course) to stop by on the way back home. It’s both a farm and a vineyard so among the grapes being grown were also chickens freely roaming around, sheep hanging out and vegetables being grown in the garden. We had such a good time hanging out after sampling the wine. The couple who run the place are extremely nice, even offering extra pours. The cost is $ 5 for 5 or $ 8 for all 10, AND you get to keep the glass. My friend and I liked the reds and each took a bottle home. Since this stop wasn’t in our original plans, we feel really lucky to have found it. If you’re headed to the caverns, be sure to stop by on the way there or back.

We loved bringing our young daughter to this farm/winery. She enjoyed the chickens, sheep, dogs, and the leisurely walk to the creek to splash around and throw rocks. There are picnic tables everywhere, so you can grab a bottle and some snacks from the tasting room and find your own favorite location. The prices were excellent — $ 5 or $ 11 tasting(for 5 or 11 wines, respectively), the snacks were good(manchego!), and the service was great. Their varietals are unique and very floral, it seemed. We preferred the seyval.

What a great example of why it’s so great to be on the upswing of the VA Wine movement. Wisteria is a cute little mom & pop operation not far from the Luray area. We tasted all 8 wines and definitely liked the reds best. This year(2014) we haven’t seen much Norton available and were pleased that Wisteria had theirs to taste. All around a very inviting little spot with a very friendly staff!

Fantastic winery! My husband and I stumbled upon this winery from a local recommendation. We enjoyed some mulled wine by the fire pit on a chilly day at the farm and got to meet some great people! The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. The mulled wine is made with Merlot without nitrates, which for us migraine suffers is a big win! We became wine club members so we will be heading back in the near future to pick up our quarterly club membership.

We were in Luray for a weekend outing, and decided to stop past Wisteria Farm for a quick tasting, and to maybe purchase a bottle of wine. Set on a scenic quaint farm locate in the foothills of the scenic mountains, we popped in a little after noon on a Sunday. Quickly greeted by our host, we each took a tour of the wine tasting menu. Separated into sweet and dry lists, the tasting itself took only about a half hour. As with any tasting, some wines were more to our liking then others. We selected four bottles, some for gifts and a couple for«personal use» and a dozen farm fresh eggs. I was tempted by the family made olive oil also offered for sale, however my wallet yelled at me and I declined that purchase. Friendly and inviting, a worthy deviation if you are on a trip in the area!

We stopped by Wisteria on our trip to Luray. It’s one of the closest wineries, and I read they have a farm — with sheep! We arrived around 2, and as soon as we stepped out, we noticed Romeo the rooster roaming around free in the yard. We walked into the building to do our tasting, and we were immediately helped. You can choose to do either a six tastings of wine(dry or sweet), or you can do a full tasting of them all, plus the dessert ice wine, for $ 10. My husband and I both opted to do the full tasting. Also, you get a souvenir wine glass with the full tasting, which is something I always love. I am a bit disappointed most vineyards don’t do this anymore. The room for the tastings is warm and cozy, with a little fireplace. Also, the owners also make olive oil and yarn from the sheep wool, which was pretty neat. Unfortunately, most of the wines weren’t for me. I did like the Traminette, the dessert wine, and the Carmine. My husband took a glass of the Carmine, and I bought a bottle of the Traminette to enjoy outside, seeing the sun decide to peek out on this cold March day. We had fun watching Romeo watch the other roosters and hens. He was segregated from them due to their constant fighting and pecking each other’s eyes out. Gruesome, I know, I had a hard time looking at Romeo. The sheep stayed in their barn, much to my dismay. The farm is quite large, and you can find plenty of places to sit and enjoy wine, or you can walk down a path through the vineyards down to Hawksbill Creek. There are also gorgeous views of the mountains all around. We were entertained for a good hour while enjoying our wine at Wisteria. If you’re in the area, stop by.

Loved this place! So cute and charming. We did the«grand» wine tasting — 11 wines(includes all wines on the sweet and dry lists). Only $ 12 and included 2 souvenir wine glasses! The owner and his wife also were the ones pouring and hosting and were a joy to talk to and get to know. They have a nice fire place in the wine tasting room, and comfy tables and chairs — feels like you’re sitting in a friend’s living room… except your friend owns a winery and a flock of sheep. Bonus for dog lovers: they have 2 adorable, sweet dogs that love getting some love walking around! The wine was great — we ended up getting a bottle to take home and had 2 more full glasses while we were there. Would HIGHLY recommend this place — great way to support a small, family-run business and to have some great local VA wine!

This is the closest winery to the town of Luray. It’s small, but pleasant. There are lots of wines to taste and with the $ 5 tasting fee you get to keep the glass. All of the wines were nice. Their dessert wine, and overall their white wines, were our favorites. They had a couple of nice pink wines too. Ok, and the reds weren’t bad either. The staff were friendly and enjoyable. The tasting room is small, but cozy. There are some gift items and a fireplace. Outside is a farm, including sheep, chickens, a couple of roosters, etc. They have a couple of tables and chairs set-up outside, even a nice wooden porch swing. And you can purchase a glass of wine and go sit outside and enjoy the atmosphere. The bottles of wine were very reasonably priced. We walked away with two of them and a small gift for my mom. Overall, it was a great experience.

I gave it three stars, because the property is beautiful. The tasting room(and restroom) is clean and feel newly built. My husband enjoyed the wine more than I did, but the 2009 Traminette was pretty good. He liked the Merlot. The tasting costs $ 5 each, and it includes the glass. If you buy three bottles, they give you a little wine tote bag.
