*sniff* *sniff* Now this place I’m truly sad about its closure. I’m so sorry I didn’t visit more often… your wings were so damn good especially the spicy ones! Way better than Pizza and Chicken Love Letter… I haven’t tried BBQ chicken yet but it’s so damn far away… Oh Kyochon… how I’ll miss thee *sobbing*

My first experience with the famed Korean fried chicken was at BBQ Chicken in the Diamond Jamboree shopping plaza in Irvine, it had unique and at the same time rather uninspired taste. I walked away full but unimpressed. So on a lazy Monday afternoon free from the confines of class, my girlfriend and I decided to make the trip out to Stanton to give the best of K.F.C another try, this would be my girlfriends first time and my second. We ordered the B Combo which for $ 17.39 gets you: 8 or more of their famed fried chicken wings(usually a few more) in their original Garlic Soy or Sweet and Spicy flavor. You usually aren’t allowed to have both flavors but we told the guy helping us it was our first time and he relented. I would advise on spending an extra buck on the pickled radishes, it perfectly contrasts the sweet and spicy with a tangy-ness that only something pickled can provide plus it helps clear the palette between dishes. The sweet and spicy wings most definitely had some oomph. It wasn’t a tongue-immolating spicy but rather what I feel was a peppery needles-on-your-tongue spicy. That gives way to a teriyaki-like sweetness. The original garlic soy was definitely on point as well. The soy sauce notes were definitely just enough to enhance the crispy skin. Not too bold and not too timid and the garlic imparted a warm buttery after-taste that I thought I tasted but my girlfriend said she didn’t notice. The only caveat I have is the wings are here are definitely small in relation to the money you pay and even then you end up with some runt-like even smaller wings. Quality control Koreans! Quality control! I didn’t have much of any of the sides. It was my wish to experience this fried chicken unadulterated and without any other excess flavors clouding my tastebuds. I only half-heartedly had a stab at the rice cake after I finished licking the grease off my fingers from the chicken. It wasn’t bad. I’d recommend coming on a weekday afternoon. We got there at around 3 in the afternoon and it was pretty empty. If I could give Kyochon some advice it’d be this, add waffles. Chicken this excellent deserves a nice fluffy waffle to go along with it. =D

Nooooooooo! I’m so devastated. I can’t believe they closed, I love Kyochon D; — definitely recommend the soy sauce spicy flavored chicken — a bit expensive, but so worth it — love the cute ajjumas(sp?) who run the store now I have to go to the further location that’s like half an hour away from me, but nothing can keep me from my Kyochon chicken!

These are amazing. I don’t know what else to say. We read about this place through the OC Unilocal Newsletter(big thank you to them). The BF brought them home today and I couldn’t stop eating the soy sauce ones; I guess that is a good sign. I think I might go have another. If you think it is expensive it is worth every penny and make sure you have napkins. Thank you KyoChon for being nearby. Thank you.

A friend brought me some of this chicken before and I loved it! I was so surprised at how long the skin stayed crispy. I went here for the first time yesterday. My mouth is watering just thinking about it! I am a chicken wing FANATIC and I base my love of chicken wings on 3 factors: Texture of Skin/Crust, Flavor and Juiciness. There is a definite crunch and a crust, but not too thick of a crust, and they stay crunchy for a while. We got an order of 30 and when we got the last one, it was still crunchy. The flavors are really unique, ginger soy and sweet/spicy. The spicy one has a little bit of a kick to it but its not tear jerking spicy. The ginger soy is mild and hard to get sick of. TRYBOTH! Wings can definitely be over fried sometimes. These weren’t. It wasn’t incredibly juicy, but there was enough moisture in it to balance with the flavors. It was pretty tender. I gave this place a 4 because they’re a little pricey for chicken wings, it calculates to about $ 1 per wing(which is one part of the wing) and the other items on their menu were just OK, the fries were whatever but good to keep the heat of the spicy flavor down. I am willing to pay for good wings though, and this place definitely has good wings.

Kyochon! Where have you been all my life? Why did I not stop by and try out your amazing fried chicken when I always drove by you in K-town. Why did I only discover you now? Perhaps it is not too late. I love Kyochon! It was true love at first bite, the next, and the next, and I am still not sick of it. Regardless of how many times I’ve been back here, the food seems to only get better with time. OMY(Oh My Yummieness!), it has become an addiction! I absolutely love their soy-garlic sauce wings with their pickled daikon radish. MmMmMm Seriously, if I was not the only Asian person in the world that is allergic to soya sauce, I would eat here everyday if it didn’t kill me. I love their soya-garlic wings so much that it is worth the pain — it is all about endurance! No pain, no yumminess in my tummy! I live a tough life… but Kyochon is worth it!

After hearing high praises of this little Korean fried chicken place in the Freshia supermarket in GG, hubby and I stopped in on our way home from LAX. Gripe that has nothing to do with the food: Parking SUCKS here on the weekends. It took several trips down each aisle of the parking lot to finally catch someone leaving. Bright side is, even at noon(which was when we went), the food court was not busy at all and my worries about a long line at Kyochon Chicken was definitely unfounded. We ordered 20 pieces of wings which was what we were told the best way to experience Kyochon, half spicy and half original. It took about 15 minutes but probably because the chicken is fried to order. Once the chicken was sitting in front of us, the smell of garlic wafted up our nostrils. I couldn’t wait to jump in. The spicy was definitely spicy… not white-boy spicy… definitely Asian spicy. Hubby switched to non-spicy after a few of th spicy wings so it was left to me to finish off the spicy wings — how… terrible? NOT. The wings were definitely good. They were perfectly deep fried and the seasoning was spot on. I wouldn’t recommend consuming this on a regular basis but it was definitely a treat for hubby and me. We could have done without the salad drenched in dressing but we kept our focus on the wings. When we finally have our arteries unclogged, we will definitely be paying a return visit! :)

When I first walked into Freshia, I had a choice between KyoChon or Mr. Pizza. I read a review by Kimmpossible N. saying that she tried both and KyoChon came out to be the victor. I trusted her opinion and went for it. The chicken was great, reminded me of BBQ Chicken in Irvine only with much less flavors. We got the wings and drumsticks in both flavors. I thought I wasn’t going to be full but once I hit the drumsticks, I started feeling it. The wings were kind of weak, not as much meat as you would expect from other American chicken places, but the seasoning makes up for it. A little pricey but its not like I’m going to eat this everyday. Next stop, Mr. Pizza! Who wants to go?

Went here last weekend, the chicken is wonderful. Koreans know how to make fried chicken, that’s all that I have to say. It’s pricey, but not like you can get this stuff just anywhere. I had the garlic soy sticks, yum! The bulogi & chicken fried rice is mediocre, it’s all about the chicken though

I had this place bookmarked for the longest time but finally checked it out over the weekend. Located inside of Freshia of Garden Grove/Stanton. It’s one of the food courts restaurant. They definitely«do» chicken right! Simple menu and very tasty! Definitely very Asian taste. We ordered half and half(half originals and half spicy). The spicy ones were definitely spicy! They have other stuffs on their menu too. I’ll definitely come back here to try more.

My lips are blazing red. They hurt so bad but feel so good! Crispy hot wings tossed with blazing hot sauce. We wanted it spicier so the guy took it back(store policy. you can’t have a side of the sauce) and hit it up a notch. 12 pcs wings, fries and a drink=$ 12.95

Located in the old Foods For Less building on Beach & Lampson, KyoChon’s wings are better than WingStop, better than Alondra Hot Wings, and better than Chili’s. KyoChon is located in the food court of the new Freshia Market. We shared a plate of 20 wings(which is actually 40 because they count each half piece as one). Half Original; a sweet soy & garlic, and half Hot Original. We couldn’t decide which flavor was better, though the hot gets a bit spicy since there is no ranch dressing to temper it. They do however; offer a side of cole-slaw with every order. It’s a in a slightly sweet base. The wings are perfectly crisp on the outside, after eating the first wings, I amazed myself at my dental skills I was using to get every last morsel from the bone. I actually considered eating the bone a few times. That’s how good these wings are. Beware, the wings are a bit expensive, our afternoon snack of 20 pieces with two sodas was $ 21.74. In my opinion, though, the wings were worth every penny, I pocketed the frequent diner card knowing these wings would be singing my name the next time I ventured down the 22 near Beach Blvd. Mmmm Chicken!

I was hesitant on reviewing KyoChon as I’d only been there once, but after trying some other places in the Bay Area, I had to write the review. I dream of KyoChon Chicken. In fact, my mouth is watering just now from the thought. I love that dokbokki is also on the menu. Nothing like gorging on delicious wings and rice cakes! Seems kinda pricey for being in a food court at a supermarket, but when we were there, there was a promotion. Order $ 20+ and get a KyoChon mug or tissue box [some of us like the mugs, and some of us have runny noses!]. Plus, there’s always coupons for this and that.

BBQ Chicken, you have met your match. Yeah I said it, and I say it with great confidence about how much I endorse this type of food. I used to think places like TGIF, Chili’s, KFC, and the ever infamous Hooters were on par with their chicken and boy was I surely wrong. Per suggestion of Unilocaler Mayumi H., she wanted to consider my opinion of whether or not this place is good. And my verdict… why didn’t I try this place sooner? I came here when I did my shopping at Freshia Market, for some groceries to cook at home. The place has been on my bookmark list for the longest time, but I never came around to visiting until I moved to Garden Grove. So cutting to the chase, what did I order, simply this: –1 order of 10 pieces(both flavors: Garlic Soy Sauce and Hot Sweet Sauce wings) for $ 9.99($ 10.00 plus tax) Best purchase I made and well worth the wait(only 10 minutes worth). The chicken wings had just the right amount of crispiness in regards to the skin, whereas the meat inside was tender and moist it felt like I was making love, to my ideal Kimchi Goddess. Now if only they had The Wondergirls serving me some of this chicken, while serenading me with an acapella version of Nobody, then this would be perfect Korean Heaven indeed =).

They don’t serve beer(I guess that would be difficult in a supermarket food court). The wings here are money! Pure money! Like… they cost a fortune. Every other item on the menu is not worth mentioning. The ambiance sucks… again…you are eating in a supermarket food court. So why is this place getting four stars?! The wings are THAT good. They will put a dent in your wallet, but they are worth the money! Go around that supermarket and nearly every person has a box of KyoChon in their hands… They only offer two flavors, sweet & spicy and garlic soy. I prefer the sweet & spicy and have no idea what people are talking about when they say these wings are spicy. Perhaps they are just weak sauce. Open this place as a stand alone, some Stella on tap, and some big screen LCDs on the walls. Game over! Wait…scratch that… that’s a bad idea… it would never work… not worth trying…

Wings. My brother loves chicken wings, and I can probably name about 5 other places off the top of my head that we could go to in OC to satisfy our chicken wings fix. But, while our bucks would probably go further at the well-known establishments like KFC or Popeye’s, we wanted to add to our usual food repertoire and tried out this Korean joint. Located inside the Freshia supermarket near K-Street(aka Garden Grove Blvd), people may say they are apprehensive at the food court appeal of the venue. This review is based on my 2nd visit to Kyochon(which made such a good first impression it garnered a return visit from my bro and I.) We ordered 20 wings to share, with ½ soy garlic sauce & ½ original(the spicier of the two.) We also ordered a side of french fries & the crispy rice chicken strips. Tack on two drinks and the order comes out to roughly $ 30 — pricey? Yes — but, what do you expect? This isn’t your typical run-of-the-mill place. I’ve learned that you can’t always trust a review on face-value — you should either try it yourself and make a judgment rather than rely on what I or anyone else says. In my case, I enjoyed both flavors of chicken wings and even though I’m a pansy with spicy food, I like the nice kick that the spicy sauce gave to the wings, which were crispy and easy to eat. The crispy rice chicken tenders are exactly that — think a rice krispy exterior instead of deep-fried batter and that’s what you have. The meat is tender and it comes with your choice of three different dipping sauces(we went with Honey mustard.) Fries are ordinary but really help to soak up the heat in your mouth, as does the coleslaw salad that accompanies the wings. I enjoyed my experience at Kyochon — perhaps you will too. And if not, well — there’s always Popeye’s.

I get wings pretty much everywhere they’re available when I dine out and THESE are especially addictive. They were a little too sweet for me at first, but I came back for the crispy skin and garlicky fragrance and eventually acquired a taste for the sweetness. Drinks were bottomless, but beware, they won’t help with the spicyness. If you like pickled radish, get a side of it for a buck, it’ll help cool down your mouth a bit. Or if you have a real extreme case of tongue-on-fire, bring some milk with you– scientifically, it’s the only thing the really helps. I’m a medium spicy eater, and to be honest, it didn’t really get bad till my 8th wing. My only gripe is it’s only available is original and spicy. And oh yeah, no alcohol license so I have to enjoy my food sober :(

I’ve been really looking forward to trying Kyochon. All over the stall is plastered that this is the original KFC. What do I know? My experience with KFC has not really been all that extensive — only been to BBQ Chicken in Buena Park which was rather good! So here I was trying to decide whether or not to try the chicken or not. I was glad to see that they had spicy chicken wings. I asked the guy if the wings were wet or dry. He said ‘more wet’. Hmmm … not into wet wings really. I asked if he could put the sauce on the side. He said«company policy says no». O-K! I ended up getting some spicy wings anyway. The lady who bought take out standing next to me said it was absolutely delicious. I almost asked her if she had been to BBQ Chicken and how it compares but she took off before I had the opportunity. The wings glistened with the coating resembling honey glazed wings. I took a bite — crunchy, but the glaze was too sweet for my palate and not spicy enough. Still, they weren’t bad… not at all. It had a strong garlicky after-taste — which was great, and the spiciness kinda creeps up on you, but I still woulda liked them a bit spicier and a bit less sweet. I wish they didn’t put the salad on the same plate. The dressing was ketchup and mayo — now that was seriously gross!!! I wanted to try the ddukbogi, but remembered Lena’s review and decided against it.

My asian homeys rolled down the hood and we ate at the food court.(thinking* doesn’t this sound like something we do back in high school?) Jason“BBQKING” H, Lisa” needs a drink like she needs an I” V, Steph«I like pink bottles“W joined in on the fun this past Monday night. BBQ King( ) and I shared ½ garlic and ½ spicy. 20 wings for almost $ 20. Taste wise, it was really good. So strong of a garlic taste, you will wake up with the smell the next morning. Spicy sauce was great too, with a bit of a kick. As for the size, they were not the prettiest. They come in small and smaller size. Boo…( ) Yes, it is a bit expensive for wings. 3.5 stars. So Asian high school wanna be wing buddies… are you guys down for trying Yardhouse’s plum wings next time during happy hour? At least, there’s alcohol to go with it which makes everything go better.

Kyochon now delivers and they have two bento box meals. In addition to your choice of 4 wings or 2 sticks, each compartment of the bento has smaller portions of other stuff from the menu(cole slaw, fried rice, bulgoggi, etc.) The prices change after 3pm. I tried the chicken fried rice too. I didn’t like it. it was very spicy and mushy. I’m used to chinese fried rice which isn’t so mushy. The soft serve ice cream flavor is vanilla. It’s okay, lightly sweet. It’s just something they offer to cleanse your pallete after all the spicy food. The garlic soy sauce drummies are the best!
