If I’m ever taking Beach Blvd. home through Stanton, you can bet I’m going to drive through this funky Greek restaurant. I love the beef and lamb gyro with a side of scaldingly hot teropita. I call the teropita«scalding» because I can never resist them long enough to let them actually cool down! Those sugary, powdery, almond cookies are crazy good too! I’ve been driving through here my whole life, but somehow have never actually stopped in the restaurant! That’s okay though, because a gyro makes for delicious, one-handed driving food. I rarely drive down that part of Beach anymore, but I can’t wait for another reason to do so(and another excuse to go to The Mad Greek)!

Love this place. One of our go to places when we want something good and quick. Great gyros. We always order the fried veggies. Crispy zucchini, onions, and mushrooms with tzadiki(cucumber) sauce.

One of my favorite quick bite joints! Everything is nice and homemade tasting. The roasted chicken is amazing. I don’t know how they get it that good… maybe they have little wizards back there or something? Who knows, but it’s amazing! The gyro is out of this world too! With the soft pita, and cool tzaziki sauce the delicious blend of beef and lamb really stands out. One last recommendation, the kefte kabobs. If you ever run into someone who trash talks lamb, stuff a kefte kabob in their mouth. Or find new acquaintances, you don’t need that kind of negativity in your life! Gave it four stars, because although I love the outdoor dining area, the inside could use a bit of a makeover.

***(Stanton) *** When driving along Beach Blvd it’s hard not to miss The Mad Greek. The white structure with the funky lettering makes it stand out from the normal structures around. The structure isn’t the only thing that makes this place stand out. The burgers are pretty delicious. I’m a fan of the Onassis burger, and my kids love the cheese burgers. All of the burgers are super juicy with every bite. They must have changed the recipe for their fries recently because the new fries are kind of like seasoned fries, but with a light breading on the outside. It probably makes the outside slightly crunchy, with a soft center. It’s definitely unique and caught my attention. I thought it was yummy enough that I actually finished the fries before working on the burger :-) Here’s what I’ve ordered: * Cheese burger — This kids love the cheese burgers. * Gyro sandwich — Hmm.. I’m not such a fan of the gyro. * Onassis burger — This is a pastrami sandwich. It’s a delicious treat that my other half always eats when we order here. Here’s what I liked… * The food is always consistently good and well worth every penny. * The fries has gotten better. * When I go it’s easy in & out. No crowds to deal with. * I like the outside seating area for summer time dining. * Always super easy parking. Here’s what I didn’t like… * Although the food is delicious, it’s a little on the pricey side. So I have to ration my visits :-) * Nothing else comes to mind. Food = delicious Seating area = clean Service = average Restroom = unknown

Been wanting to go here for a while. Always drive by and tell myself that I need to go here. Finally did. I should have came here a long time ago. Had the chicken gyro. It was good. Tried my fiancés beef and lamb, that was even better. Will definitely be coming back.

Last time I checked, souvlaki was actually chunks of meat on a skewer. That’s how my beef souvlaki came, but my boyfriends chicken souvlaki was a thin, over cooked fillet of chicken breast on a stick. The flavor was good, but very dry. Probably would have been better if they were actually chunks like they should be. My rice was dry too. My beef souvlaki was good and perfectly cooked, but there were some very fatty, inedible parts. The salad was very fresh and the best part of the meal. The French fries are very good. The fried zucchini was very good too. The tzatziki was not the best. Needed to be drained a little bit better. Not much flavor either. This place is nowhere near the quality of the one in Baker. I won’t be back. Our meals were each $ 12.95, but more worth about $ 8.95.

I rushed over here and noticed that they close at 9 … It was 8:43, as I walk in the cashier is quickly counting cash closing her register. Doesn’t look up to acknowledge me — I asked if they were closed she hesitated and said no. What can I get you? I didn’t even look at the menu, I just ordered a gyro to go. Horrible experience. Gyro was basic no lettuce just a sad piece of tomato and onion … Just meat inside a pita pretty much ! Won’t return.

I’ve lived in the area for 6 years now, why is it I only tried this place now?! Very friendly service. I ordered a gyro and zucchini fries nothing to drink I always bring my own water(cutting soda out of my life) the gyro was okay, meat was very tender and flavorful, the pita bread it came in was perfect but the tzatziki sauce is the reason I say the gyro was just okay. The tzatziki sauce tasted kinda salty it lacked that tangy flavor I’m use to in my tzatziki sauce. Their zucchini fries is delicious! Dip it in some ranch and your good to go. Other than that it was an okay experience but I will be back to give it another try.

I came across this place accidentally a few months ago, after moving to the area. I’ve been a few times and have gotten good service and tasty food. I usually get the half chicken dinner or Greek salad with chicken, and of course a side of pita bread. I’ve yet to try their gyro, so I’m unable to speak on that part of the menu. I’ll get around to it eventually.

WARNINGSTAYAWAYFROMTHISRESTAURANT: Me and the wife stop to having a falafel sandwich & Gyros sandwich with some Humus, Zucchini and homemade Pita first time at this location. 1 stars because the counter person made a face because I asked her about the prices for what we order. Zucchini are cut to thin for there heavy batter and the Humus is bland and toasted Pita are hard and the Tai ki was like drywall mud not creamy. To bad I thought it would be better mybe like the one in Barstow. It should b have been zero Not 1. Counter person should get a new job because her attitude sucks! I asked for 2 containers but when I asked for 1 more she gave me attitude like are you sure that’s all u need with a crappie look on her face. I will not recommend this place. 1 am Sorry I give them a 1. Crappie food and service.

Now I don’t usually do a follow up on a place I gave 1 star but I just received a message in a compliment from a Mr Bill K. Who I assume is the owner or a employee of this place. The statement did not set well with me which said ” You stupid fux over 200 reviews raving about our consistent Gyros for over 35 years fu.“ So this is my response back to Mr Bill K. & the Mad Greek Restaurant. Thanks for trying to save your faith in your nasty tasting garbage Gyro Mr. Bill K. They are the absolute the worst ever, the 200 people who gave good reviews were brain washed into thinking garbage is good. Face fact your food is disgusting and your restaurant needs a good cleaning because its a grease pit… Mr. Bill K, I have copied your remark you sent me and will repost for the world to see how your restaurant responded to criticism by cursing me you. My suggestion to you sir, is to make some changes into Restaraunt and how you respond to your customers for giving criticism.

RETRO! Gotta love it. Outside seating area with the string lights and surrounding flowers… its like a beautiful oasis on a seedy portion of Beach Blvd. As we entered in this circular wonderful building the first order of operations was to find a place to sit… Seemed like the good table was taken by a man and his grandson… We’ll choose the table on the opposite side that had the least wear and tear. So much character here! Of course we had to order the gyros, fried zucchini(they invented them after all) and the chicken dinner. Seemed like a lot of food and it was a lot of food. Gyros came wrapped in a pita wrapped in foil. The juicy bits were in harmony with the charred crispy bits to perfection. If the kid didn’t like to deconstruct her pita and make bite sized pieces each time, I would have taken a huge bite out of the thing. The Tzatziki and onion just rounded it out to what a gyro should be. Rotisserie chicken was juicy and the skin was cooked expertly. Eating with the hands and getting oily fingers is the only way to go here. yum. Zucchini are cut thin and I’m sorry to say, I’ve had better. Very good but not as juicy as it could be. I think I’m satisfied not upgrading from fries. Solid meals from a quirky retro restaurant is always a winner in my book. Don’t ever change Mr. Mad Greek, don’t ever change…

You get what you pay for. Good food for good price. I have a sensitive stomach for greasy food and this place sat with me good. They were out of the hummus I like, understandably, I’ll be back. My only«complaint» with it is that it made me a little tired. I’m guessing that’s my problem. This place is definitely on my list of places to get quick good food when I’m around and want some culture in my life.

Absolutely disgusting in all areas. Should have walked out when opened the door. The floor looked like it was cleaned last century. The guy who appeared to be the owner, ignores us when we walked in, as he was too busy complaining to a guy about bad Unilocal Reviews.(Again, should have been a clue). There were some mechanical parts and spray paint cans on two of the tables. I overheard talk of cyber-bullying as a comment about bad Unilocal reviews, oh boy! Bing… Another clue to run away! But, we don’t. So lets get to the food… I couldn’t wait to try their Gyro since we always have great ones at the Mad Greek in Baker, CA. I don’t know what these people call their Gyro, but I call it wood chipping’s on a pita. Dry, salty, crunchy, burnt and just plain gross. I ate about a quarter of it and gave up. Immediately felt sick from what I just ate. Back to the pleasant owner guy. A very loud, no-care attitude walking around and making for a very unsettled atmosphere. No greeting to the customers, could care less. He even took personal phone calls in the dining area and was complaining about someone not showing up to his party. So as far as this place goes… AVOIDATALLCOST!!! Hopefully the owner will get a clue or he’ll be out of business soon enough.

Mad disgusting! Mad customer! Mad, mad, mad… One of the worst dining experiences of my life. The food here is a joke. This place is a disgrace to the food industry, as they seem to have zero integrity in the product they’re serving. The pita bread was soggy, the fries were ice-cold and stale. The tzatziki sauce was watered-down & basically tasted like salty milk – blah! Oh and the soda had zero carbonation. Just the thought of this horrible meal & waste of $ 20 makes my stomach queasy! Never again! I do not recommend eating here ever, but if you do, be prepared to throw away the money you will spend for the over-priced prison dinner(not that I’ve been).

The greatest outdoor seating area with a real grapevine overhead for shade, a fountain and music create a romantic ambiance. The baklava was delightful! Have to go back for more. Service was awesome… Got to meet the owner who took great care of us.

The 5.99 gyro is great here. They pack it with plenty of meat so it’s always filling. It comes with tomato, onions inside and tzatziki sauce on the side. My dad and I will drive 20 miles just for their gyro even though there are local burger places that serve gyros just down the street from home. It’s that good. I love coming during the summer because of the strawberry shakes(with homemade whip cream made to order by owner) and because it’s warm enough to sit outside which is nicely decorated for a casual place. There are grape vines surrounding the patio so it’s reminiscent of the Mediterranean. The veggie platter is good: the fried zucchini and fried mushrooms are perfectly breaded and don’t crack off when bitten into. The owner and workers are also friendly.
