Elkhounds are beautiful, loving, smart dogs and every breeder I’ve come across is very protective of the breed. That means they generally aren’t in it for the money and you’ll have to jump through a lot of hoops if you’d like to get one. And that’s fine by me because the chances of having to deal with a heartbreaking disease or illness down the line is minimal. I live in Austin and drove all the way to Mississippi to get my 4th Elkie from Magnolia Ridge and let me tell you. She’s a beauty. Nancy does a great job and clearly loves this breed. If you are looking for a Norwegian Elkhound, I highly recommend Magnolia Ridge.
