They were able to fix a problem with my car that the dealer couldn’t fix! And the price was right! The part they needed to install in my car was under $ 2. Thanks, Graham’s!

These guys are the real deal — a neighborhood shop that tells you exactly what’s going on and gets the job done. Instead of a service manager, you can talk to the actual mechanic. Other places I’ve gone to have just shrugged and said sorry when they couldn’t reproduce a problem. Graham’s kept working with me to figure it out, then fixed it for a reasonable price.
They do have a very old-​school work order system, though. Everything’s hand-​written on those triplicate paper forms, so you need to hang on to those for your own records. And they are often booked out a few days. So don’t expect to call them in the morning and have your car done by that afternoon. I’m told that Mondays are the worst.
But the quality of their work and their communication is so good that I can’t give them any less than five stars. So if you know your car, keep good records, and schedule ahead of time, go to Graham’s and they will do a great job.

My roadside assistance assigned them to come and help me. They couldn’t come but instead of letting me or roadside assistance know so we could find someone else, they waited until I called them ten minutes after they were supposed to arrive wondering where they were. As a rwsult I was left sitting in a hot car in an alley way for over two hours with my flat.

I took the trouble to sign up and comment Graham’s Exxon. Excellent service, quick, responsible, friendly and guess what’s the price? It’s so fairly priced even cheap!
I was previously disappointed with all other auto repair and maintenance shops in state college but I can’t expect anything better from here. Highly recommended!

It is so hard to find a good honest mechanic in State College, and these guys definitely fit the bill. I can bring my own oil and filter and they will change it for $ 20 no problem. When I had to pass inspection, they did not try to BS me with «things that have to be fixed before I put that sticker on» just to drum up business. Very honest people

My son is a student at PSU — car was having problems. Took it there — they fixed it for $ 80. They certainly could have told him it was anything — we would have no idea. Honesty — great job!!! We will go back if the need ever arises.

I am spending a week in State College and needed to have my alignment checked and an oil change on my Jeep. I chose to stop at Graham’s Exxon because of the consistently great reviews they get online. They problem-​solved and communicated clearly with me about what they needed to do, and charged a fair price for the work. This is a good shop, and I would highly recommend it. One thing to keep in mind is that because they are so good, they are often booked a week ahead. I stopped by on Monday morning and I was lucky to get an appointment on Wednesday. Be sure to plan ahead.

My 2003 Ford Focus was making a deep, creaking noise every time I turned. I called Graham’s because I saw they had great reviews and I live right across the street. They took my car that night and looked at it the next day. It was done by 2pm. Pat called me to check on the noise; he wasn’t hearing the same sound I was and wanted to double-​check that he was listening for it. He was super upfront and honest and very helpful. I picked up my car – no noise! Price was reasonable, labor was reasonable; in fact, my total bill came to less than the estimate cost I was given over the phone! I asked Pat what to do if I hear the noise again. He told me that I need to come when he’s at work and take it for a test drive with him so we’re listening for the same noise and he’ll take care of it.
I haven’t driven my car that much since I got it back, so I’m not 100% sure that everything is taken care of, but I was so impressed with the service. I mentioned in passing that my battery light is always on, and Pat checked my battery level for free for me – that is REALLY impressive. Another shop I’ve been to charges about $ 50 for that diagnostic. Overall, I’m incredibly impressed with the customer service I received here. I felt like work was fair and well explained, and I didn’t feel like I was taken advantage of because I’m a woman and I don’t know a lot about cars. I’ll be going back again if I need anything in the future!

These are really great guys working here. I went in because of a flat tire and instead of just charging me for a brand new tire they looked at the old one and spotted a large nail that I must of run over and proceeded to tell me they could fix it for a small fee. I thought they would charge me at least 30 – 40 $ but I came in the next day and they told me it was a total of 10 $! Great, honest, and knowledgable workers! They aim for quality in customer service instead of trying to suck money out of you like every other chain auto workshop.

Woke up on a cold morning, planning to make a run of some errands, but found my car wouldn’t start. Called AAA, and got a free tow out of my parking lot to Graham’s Exxon. They said they could service it after the weekend, and they’d get back to me. On Monday I got a call from them. They couldn’t reproduce my car problem (it warmed up over the weekend), but he noticed a few things wrong that might have been the problem. As long as it was in, I got my oil changed and fluids checked, and got it back later that afternoon. They charged me reasonably for labor (I think they probably spent more time on the car than they billed me for) and parts.
After I got home, I started having the same problem: hard start when chilly, wouldn’t start when cold. Graham’s Exxon offered to take a second look, free of charge, since they apparently hadn’t fixed the problem. One of their mechanics actually came in early one day, so he could try to reproduce the problem when the car was coldest, but it simply never got chilly enough. In the end, they couldn’t fix my car problem, but they didn’t charge me for the second attempt.
Overall, I’m pretty satisfied. The guy seemed honest, and he didn’t try to gouge me by making needless repairs on a problem he couldn’t identify. They obviously put a lot of work into my car, running various tests and diagnostics, and the fact that they didn’t just throw their hands in the air after they couldn’t reproduce my issue is good enough for me.

These guys are great. I went there to get my 30K tune-​up along with the state inspection and emissions. Their prices were extremely fair and they called me before fixing any problem and gave me choices. They are a small shop but I was very happy with the turn around time and the price that I paid. I agree that it is really hard to find a good auto repair shop these days so I was happy I called them first.

These guys are the best. Let’s face it, car repair is never cheap, but I trust them and that goes a long way! I’ve been going to them for many years now.

I love this Exxon! The guys are very friendy and honest. They won’t rip you off and are extremely helpful. I lived nearby, had a slew of minor car issues, and Graham’s Exxon really saved me!

It’s very difficult to find a good used-​car repair shop in town. Some places try to take advantage of the rich kids and bill them for more hours that what was really done, or order parts that patrons don’t really need.
Graham’s Exxon is a fair place. I went there several times, always for my 85 Ford Escort. It was in great shape, but needed minor touch ups (keys, oil changes, swapping summer/​snow tires, etc.) and some bigger repairs (electric shorts, replacing some meters). They were always up front, and the amount of labor they were charging was reasonable (I would always compare it to the number of hours/​time my mechanic friends at home would tell me it should take). Their wage was reasonable too, at $ 55/​hour I believe.
One day, I noticed oil leaking from my beloved escort. I took it too them, and they told me my oil pan was rotten. They told me that this was discontinued (no surprise there), and that patching it (a lucrative job for them) would serve me 3 – 6 months at best. He looked for several used places throughout the country, but couldn’t find one. Throughout the whole time, he was really helpful and making sure I understood well what the options were.
Overall, I’m happy Graham’s Exxon. They didn’t charge me for stuff I didn’t need, they explained my options, and their rates were fine. I would happily recommend this place to anyone. For State College, this is as good as it gets.
