This store has some unique and different toys as well as great educational toys! But I agree with some of the others that customer service could be a little better. The store needs more sales clerks especially around the holidays!

The Growing Tree is the best toy store. I remember my parents bringing us to The Growing Tree when we were kids. I remember the magnetic trains and the little kid sized green playroom. I don’t know if the playroom is still there, but I am happy to report the store is in the same spot it has always been in. I stopped in The Growing Tree two weeks ago. I love the store as much as I did as a child, but for different reasons. As a child I just remember it being big and fun. Now as an adult I realize it isn’t a large store, but it offers an amazing variety of toys. I appreciate the crafts, science toys, and building toys. I really appreciate the variety of toys they carry for very young babies. I love the selection of gender-neutral toys. Too often big box stores are completely divided between pink and blue. The prices are a little higher than big box stores but The Growing Tree carries many high quality European toys and many quality brands. Toys are expensive, even at the big box stores. I would rather pay for quality than characters. I have to mention the Growing Tree has a great website. It is easy to search by age or by interest, i.e. building toys or music toys. I have already been to the website three times since returning to Arizona. I haven’t purchased anything yet but I am sure that will change soon. State College is lucky to have The Growing Tree. It is a fantastic toy store.

I just learned that Growing Tree Toys sells a «dolphin transport» toy. This is pretty awful given the fact that Sea World is in trouble precisely because it gets it’s dolphins largely from Japan’s inhumane dolphin slaughters each fall. Some are sold for captivity, which is now being challenged all over the world because dolphins are too intelligent, emotional, and family oriented for captivity. The rest of the dolphins are killed brutally one on one in Taiji, Japan. Google — Taiji dolphin hunts — and decide whether this store should be teaching kids that dolphin transporting is fun.

Minus – Customer service in the store is very poor. Seems as though the clerks would rather customers didn’t go in… Plus – great selection of toys… from babies to middle school kids… Advice – don’t expect friendly service and you’ll do fine.
