Worst mall Ive ever seen, including one that was weeks from shutting down! JC Penney is gone. Most of the remaining stores are related. same stores with different names, teenager shops. Bön Ton is so overpriced, its pathetic. No food court? What mall has no food court? They brought in a health club to attract more businesses, with no door from the gym to the inside of the mall! Duh! There is a Sears(remember Sears?) with half empty shelves, and no visible employees in most of the store! There are no unique stores found in most malls, like a chocolatier, cookie store, etc. seriously, why cant they revamp this dinosaur?

The mall is fine… but the nittany nail salon in the mall was so dirty I did not have my mani & pedi. The water for my pedicure was dirty so I asked the girl to clean and redo water. Instead she put on the bubbles… I said no thanks put on my shoes and left.

This mall is just sad. It’s really geared towards the two groups: infants through through teens and seniors. If you do not fall into these catagories and want to maintain a sense of style you are out of luck. Some stores downtown can help you(if you are of college age). But for us post college young adults who don’t want to look frumpy, I highly recommend ordering online. The only stores I go to are Victoria’s Secret and Macy’s/Bön Ton soley for the makeup counters. Cool new stores like Ulta and the supposed H&M aren’t even opening here. Isn’t that a sign?

State College mall is a decent little shopping center within the vast nothingness of Central PA. Not the best mall, but not the worst. Check out the website for a store list, one or two might suit you. Very simple.

This place shouldn’t really be called a mall. It should be a place with a few stores. There are no more than 5 decent stores and the place is always boring and dead. The first time I came here, I thought there was another level or side to the mall. I was wrong. Granted it is in state college, but don’t have high expectations here. I wish they would renovate, but it doesn’t seem like the area has a high demand for clothes retailers in a huge mall.

This has got to be the smallest, most boring mall in the world. The stores I mainly visit when I’m here are — charloette russe(for their fabulous deals on shirts), Auntie Anne’s pretzel(cause its the only Anne’s pretzel place in the area from my understanding, but then again I never looked around), express, and macys. Nothing here is worth much, there’s a Vietnamese salon that does Mani/pedis for 35 $…which I thought was pricey and they didn’t even do that great of a job. Boring, but it‘ll get the job done, if u have some time and gas money to spare, head to altoona instead!

Ugh. On a positive note, some of the basic mall stores are here: macy’s, victoria’s secret and auntie anne’s pretzels, … It works well enough for those times when I don’t have time to wait for shipment of an online purchase and need something asap.

Since this is the closet mall to where we live, it works. I would really like to see them expand and add more stores. Also, a food court would be nice.

I know you’re not supposed to compare the amenities of one region to another, and I grew up about 10 minutes from the King of Prussia mall, so any comparison to there is useless. HOWEVER: I’ve been to many a small-town mall with better national chain stores and selection than Nittany. Even their standards, like the Gap, don’t have the extensive inventory of other Gaps. This mall is on a bus line from campus; I’d think, therefore, that the demand for a higher-market retail spread is already there. Most of the PSU population must shop online – I know I do!

For the love of God, if you must shop, go to Altoona. Honestly, you would think most major retailers would be giddy with the thought of opening storefronts in a small town where 75% of the population are college students with daddy’s credit cards in hand. Nope: a total shock. To start off our grand adventure, there’s no actual food court. Yup. You heard me. No food court. A couple restaurants, yes, but no Dunkin Donuts, no Burger King, no Panda Express, nada. There is however, a Bonton. Yes indeed, one of the most useless department stores of all time. The stores range from a small bookstore(surprisingly not a Waldenbooks), to Victoria’s Secret, to Claire’s, an American Eagle and eventually a GAP. The Macy’s is possibly the worse one I’ve ever been to– it’s ridiculously tiny and doesn’t carry any of the great brands or lines that many of the others do, ie Chanel, etc. The GAP and American Eagle were just about the only decent places to buy clothes in town aside from Target. Granted they were smaller than the other locations but in State College, you have to take what you can get. The rest of the fronts are a random hodgepodge of total lameness: I cannot even begin to count how many stores opened and closed in the last seven years. There is however a Garfield’s which is a chain restaurant much like Fridays or Uno’s. Since they opened my fiancée and I really enjoyed eating there: the food was a little typical but the prices were low and the service prompt. They did have a cool assortment of interesting appetizers and always gave out great coupons. I think there was an episode of «Maury» where he gave some helpless girl a gift certificate for the Nittany Mall. She totally got shafted. My only reasons for ever popping in were the GAP, Vicky’s and dinner at Garfield’s. Period. Like I said before, go to Altoona people!

Agreed. One end of this mall is completely useless, and the rest is pretty spotty. Things come and go a lot, so there are a lot of empty storefronts. Honestly, one of the highlights is the Chinese restaurant, which is super weird. If you really need to shop, you’ll have to leave State College.

Reaction number 1: THAT’s a MALL? No no no this must be a joke. But after entering, I opened up a bit. They have the staples — Express, Macy’s, VS, nail salon, but nothing really extra… When you’re trapped in State College it will suffice, but I’m still not sure it’s a real mall.
