Went to this Checkers a few times when I lived on Staten Island!!! The food has always been good and so was the service!!! There’s used to be one on Page Avenue around 2012 but it closed and became a Starbucks!!!

Cold Fries, Cold Burgers, Horrible Service. It’s become a hangout spot at night. You’ve been warned! Go to White Castle instead !

Banana shakes banana shakes banana shakes !!! I wish there were more checkers than McDonald’s. The outdoor tables should be cleaned regularly! Needs more staff working in the kitchen three people is not enough on a Friday night.

I been coming here constantly all the way from the south shore. Look this isn’t an outback steak house– it’s a fast food place. When you pay 3 dollars for a burger– don’t complain. But seriously– their prices and food are great, drive thru quick. The price of a meal with drink, fries(which are awesome) and sandwich here cost as much as a sand which alone from McDonald’s. Their drinks are super big too… We should shut down all McDonald’s and burger kings and replace it with this. edit– that guy down there ‘mark’ has he rudest review I’ve seen… FYI many college students work at fast food joints who for all you know could be working on their masters so I would calm down with the superiority.

I don’t know which is worse, the overly greasy food or the morons that work there. Between the workers saying«ummmm.» after every word, to giving back the wrong amount of change to messing up your order. Also, I’m sorry but I actually like when my food looks somewhat similar to the picture that its advertising, if you are in the same boat as me you will be disappointed. Lastly,(which is the chains blame and not this particular branch’s) WHATISWITHTHIS«Mr. Bag» character?! Completely trashy marketing, degrading the brand as a whole.

You want a place to sit and eat during the winter, you’re plum out of luck! A couple of outside tables and an umbrella are all you get. Great during the summer but during the winter, no thanks! The food is a bit spicy but I do like the hot dogs and they have some value food so it’s not too hard on your wallet. Plus it’s ten minutes away from the movie theatre, five minutes if you’re driving.

Quick in and out. No sitting. No rooms. No indoor. Just a few seats outside. And walk up window. Or drive through. The food is really fast. And they always have a deal 2@$ 3 or like 2 @ $ 6. I usually get chick or steak or Burgers. Abs like I said you go in out order. And leave happy to eat in your car or on their outside seating area.

I come here at least 3 times a week. Honestly, its the best deal on the block if you want a ton of food. The fries’ seasoning taste good but it’s poorly fried. Get multiple sandwiches like the two for five.

This and any of this chain gets a star y because the fries are nasty like they don’t change the oil. But burgers are good and great prices stay away from the fries. I go next door to White Castle and get my fries lol.

Ok. If you’re going to advertise a MEALFORFIVEBUCKS, when I get the receipt, I should not have to see that I was charged FIVEBUCKSPLUSTHEFIFTYEXTRACENTSFORDRINKSAND A FRY! Look, I don’t care about the fifty cents. But as I was pulling up to the window to pay, I assumed it would be $ 5.44 or something because of our state tax. Nope. I was told to pay $ 5.95. Really? Me– I thought the meal was five bucks. Why is it almost six now? Idiot worker: ummm… umm… um… Me: Oh, is this Verizon? Do you guys have all these hidden surcharges I don’t know about? Idiot worker: ummm… ummmmm… oh yea, because of tax! Me: Really? When is tax almost 20% in NYC? You’re going to tell me tax is $.95 for five dollars? Idiot worker: umm yes… Me: That’s why you work at Checkers and I don’t.

Good cheap fast food that tastes great. The fries are seasoned pretty well too. Can get a great meal on a budget

I agree with another Unilocaler’s opinion saying the shakes are 5 stars but everything else is only 1 star. I love cheeseburgers but the bread is always stale and the cheese isn’t melted. I don’t like their seasoned fries either. I’m not a fan at all.

Checkers. The burger chain with two drive-thru windows and a walk up window. The one with no qualms about clogging your arteries, with specials like the«two burgers for four dollars» or «two burgers for five dollars». Yeah that Checkers, Burger Binging Heaven for the fat person in all of us. I haven’t had Checkers in a while, so I said why not. Took a while to pick from the 2 for $ 4 menu but I settled on the chicken sandwich and a chile cheese burger, fries and a strawberry milkshake to match. I didn’t really enjoy my food at all. Everything was Super Super Salty. Ate half the Chicken, wrapped it up and threw it away. Ate half the Chili, wrapped it up and threw it away. Drenched the fries in ketchup in attempt to drown out some of the salt. Wrapped that up, threw it it away. I’m hoping this is a reflection on this particular Checkers and not all have gone the way of Salt Shaker Madness. Real Disappointing, cause my memory of Checker burgers, fries and shakes are much fonder than my experience at this one. One star for the yucky food. Although I didn’t enjoy the food, I gota give the second star for service. The girl working the walk-up window was really friendly, helpful and had a great smile. The food also came out in less than five minutes. I may be eating a Checkers close to me just to make a comparison, but I won’t be coming back to this one. Oh, the Strawberry Shake was the only thing I didn’t wrap up and throw away.

Seriously gross. I was really hungry the other day and in the mood for something fattening and greasy. It was either Checkers or Wendy’s. I hadn’t had Checkers in a long time so I decided to go with them. Huge mistake! I got a cheeseburger with fries. Their fries are really gross. I think they are supposed to be Cajun style which normally I would be totally cool with. The fries were disgusting. I ate a handful and couldn’t finish the rest. This never happens. I will always eat all of my fries. I just couldn’t do it with these. The cheeseburger wasn’t much better. I ate about half of it before I couldn’t take anymore and had to throw it away. I should have just went to Wendy’s!

Five stars for the shakes but everything else here tastes like dog poop. Staten Island desperately needs a Five Guys Burgers to put dumps like this out of business.

When I saw the Coming Soon sign for Checkers go up last year, I was ecstatic. Checkers used to be one of the reasons why I would love going out to NJ to go shopping with my parents. Their burgers are just to die for. Checkers opened late 2008 in my area, probably becoming one of the first — if not the first — to open within the 5 Boroughs. When it first opened it was practically Late Night/24 Hours but eventually the trimmed their hours making it bit harder to visit when I get off my job late. I wish they were late night, they will only lose business to the newly open White Castle 200 yards away. The main draw of Checkers has to be their near perfect fast food burgers and fries. Many places have pictures of burgers, and when you get them it is a slapped together sandwich, at Checkers they are so picturesque and delicious. It is rare for a fast food joint to have such quality burgers. The fries are shoestring seasoned fries that are crispy on the outside and they don’t get soggy even if you get Bacon Cheddar/Bacon Ranch fries. So good, but bad for your cholesterol levels. The only other downside of Checkers besides the non-late night hours, is the fact you cannot dine inside. There is only 2 drive-thru windows and a walk up window. There are benches outside, but you will not be eating outside in the winter. I don’t expect there to be any change to this formula since Checkers AND its«rival» Sonic both seem to do well with this setup. Since it is only walk-up/drive-thru the time you deal with their service is only for a brief time. They don’t rush you when you order, and they are pretty spot on. At times they’ve messed up an order, but they accommodate you well, I’ve scored free burgers thanks to this. Who doesn’t like free burgers? I’m so glad Checkers is within walking distance. Probably one of the best fast food restaurants on the East Coast, and definitely one of the best on Staten Island.
