I ran in there one night and was looking to buy something real quick, I love supporting small comic comic stores. When I walked in a lady there said«we’re closing» I thought in my head that maybe that meant I had a few minutes to look and get something. Instead I got a stare and a «get out, I said we’re closing» vibe. If she was in a hurry to leave, she could have asked me what I was looking for or been helpful to expedite my purchase. I’m by the S. I ferry often so I’ll give them another shot soon. What separates big stores from small businesses is customer service, They could’ve locked the door if they were done for the day and didn’t to be helpful.

A stone’s throw from the Staten Island Ferry, with so much more than just comics. Joy is a joy to deal with and will try to find you anything you need and probably succeed. Great selection. Love this store.

Comic books and movie memorabilia, obscure collectibles, action figures, adult clothing and cartoons galore, Hypno-Tronic comics is strung with favorite pastimes and character logos, threaded through book pages and fashion along the walls. With art studio lighting and an excellent sound system, it’s full of personality, with welcoming– vivacious– owners who are very good at finding whatever collectible or comic you may be searching for. Straight up the stairs and across the street from the tourist-friendly Staten Island ferry, it’s easy to find for the non-native New Yorkers: right across from city hall, and up the block from the Children’s Museum. Prices are very reasonable, and service is extra-mile exceptional. My favorite gimmick in the window is the mannequin named«Hyptronica.» She’s a statue for the store, and is dressed in a seasonal costume with one unchangeable accessory: a pair of gun stripper heels, worn like ruby slippers. I recommend this store whether you’re in Staten Island or shopping online. There are few store owners and managers that are as knowledgeable about merchandise and comics as Ed and Joy.

I’m a big Star Trek Fan. This store had action figures, t shirts, novelties and more to add to my collection. I loved browsing at Hypno-Tronics Comics. It’s the kind of store you can get lost in — there’s so much to look at. I find something cool every time I go there. The owners are super nice and knowledgeable. Hypno-Tronics Comics — Live long and prosper!

Few things are printed in full color and enjoyable for $ 2.99 that you could keep forever. This place is AWESOME! Yes, there are many comic books, toys, collectibles, and things you would imagine are in a comic book shop, but what is really special about this place is the couple running it. The owners are so friendly and are loving what they are doing. She knew so much about her shop and pointed out a few things to show us while we visited. After selling off most of their personal collection to open up shop, in the 2 years it has been there the place seems to have filled out into quite it’s own collection. If you’re taking the ferry to Staten Island and don’t know what to do when you get there, stop by this place! Go right up the steps from the terminal. It’s super fun! I am loving my Futurama comic book and candy cigs!

Wanted to like this place as I always support local comic book stores. Went in on black Friday. The store is very small and cramped with a seeming mish mosh of toys, collectibles and comics sorted haphazardly. It was cool to browse there for a few minutes but what really grinded my gears was seeing a Batman 1966 Julie Newmar action figure on a peg marked at $ 27.99 when it retails at $ 17.99 in Toys R Us and other comic book stores. I know you’ve got rent to pay, but c’mon. not cool. Who knows, you may find a piece that catches your eye, but to be honest, I felt like I had just as much collectible stuff, comics, and toys in my own place than I saw here. Worth a trip if you’re in the nabe, but I wouldn’t make a special trip to go here.

The shopkeeper who was present was wonderful and super knowledgable. She was really friendly and knew a lot about the stuff she stocked. The place is decorated with lots of fun posters, masks and the walls are lined with a bunch of books and comic merch. Super fun store!
