When you walk by and never see any customers, well then that’s a bad sign. Since there isn’t much Chinese food to eat in the area, I decided to try it. Big mistake! Food is bland as heck, no flavor, alot of oil and msg. I guess I’m use to real authentic Chinese food, but at least the north Shore has better places. I would never eat here again, not saying it’s the worse, but definitely not the best. Price is ok, service is friendly, and they deliver

Great, clean place. Makes the best takeout and is always delicious. Delivery is a little slow though

I’ve only been here once, but so far, I really enjoyed it. It was clean inside, the people were friendly, and the food was good. I got a general tso’s combination w/pork fried rice and an eggroll, and cheese wontons. The cheese wontons were really good and I particularly enjoyed there sweet and sour sauce. The eggroll was also pretty good, it had good flavor, not just some chinese food cardboard you get some places. The fried rice had some really good pork in it, not just chewy end bits and I thought that was above average. The general tso’s sauce actually had some spice to it, it says spicy on every chinese food menu, then it never is. This one had a little bite to it, I liked that a lot. I usually always ask for white meat only when I order this or sweet and sour or something like that, I forgot this time, but will in the future. I will update when I try more items, and try white meat only, but so far, the best in the area.

Overall, it was an okay experience. Personal pros about this restaurant: As a vegetarian/vegan, there was plenty of options for me I enjoyed their chow fun and their general tso sauce with tofu As for what my family suggests: Their vegetables were fresh and ribs were okay. Spring rolls were good Prices were okay as well Personal cons about this restaurant: During the winter, their heat was not on so we spent many times waiting in the cold The place appears dirtier than the food tastes, meaning the food tastes fresh but could use a cleanup on its ‘restaurant’ area

As one reviewer stated, the chicken tasted soggy, or was it mushy? Either way chicken shouldn’t have either texture. My wife and I both ordered the General Tso’s chicken. The sauce tasted pretty good but the chicken was chewy, nervy, and overall horrible. I also had an order of steamed dumplings. Their meat mixture was something between dog and rat. Not to mention while waiting for our order they did not have the heat on at the restaurant and I nearly froze to death waiting for our food. Quest for a decent Chinese take out joint continues.

Just called this place for delivery, after reading such great reviews I was excited to try something new… To find out they won’t deliver to Huguenot? That is the next town over from Tottenville where it is located. That is utter BS and they should not advertise that they deliver. I don’t care if you need to charge me, don’t just tell me no. My money’s going somewhere else.

So I was driving all the way to eltingville to get chinese take out, Empire. The kids wanted it one day and I didn’t feel like the 40 minute round trip. So I tried this place. I passed it a thousand times on my way home from work and decided to give it a go. I’m not really excited about getting anything from main street cuz it’s a lil run down but am I glad I did. Suprisingly The food is really good, the place is clean and the prices are very reasonable. I will definitely be coming back.

Best general tsao’s tofu I’ve ever had, and I’ve tried everywhere. Vegan approved. This is your go-to chinese restaurant on the deep south shore. The staff is friendly and it’s a happy family environment. This is also my first Unilocal review, so that should say something.

Best Chinese food I’ve had on Staten Island. Mite be the best I’ve had anywhere. Food is very fresh and not excessively greasy. Delicious; and the staff is always pleasant!

A great restaurant. I like the sesame chicken and chicken broccoli. Egg roll and boneless spareribs taste good.

Where do I begin… After reading the reviews I was interested to try this place. We ordered the Honey Chicken, General’s Beef and Chicken Lo Mein. The food was pricey but we did order specialty items. When the food came 35 mins after we ordered I began to serve it to my boyfriend. First thing I noticed was both items were soggy as hell. Also, the«chicken» Lo Mein had microscopic pieces of chicken in it. The honey chicken and general’s chicken sauces tasted good but the texture was just gross. Chinese food is my boyfriend’s favorite and we just wanted to try somewhere new. We were extremely disappointed with the luke warm, soggy food and chickenless-chicken Lo Mein. We will stick with our regular place. Yuck!

Been going here since I moved to Tottenville 3 years ago. I’m easy, mostly order General Tso’s tofu with brown rice and broccoli and it is always delicious. Great vegetable fried rice and spring rolls as well and my wife raves about the wonton soup and crab rangoons. Always friendly and never had a bad meal here !

For the type of establishment — it’s a great deal. Good delivery/pick-up Chinese food at a great value. This isn’t 1-st class wining and dining, so i’m not going to criticize them beyond the scope of their services. They provide good portions, with efficient service, and at a good price. I honestly almost lost my faith with Chinese food establishments in Tottenville until I found Kim’s via Unilocal.Love ‘em!

Kim’s Island is spectacular Chinese take-out! The people there are always extremely nice and the delivery person that I have become accustomed to is one of the nicest looking people I’ve met. The mei fun soups are by far the best out of any other establishment. The Crab ragoon(now known as cheese wonton) is crispy and light, the rice is never over-cooked, and grease is the last of my worries when I order from here. Feel confident to try Kim’s Island, they deliver quickly and have yet to mess up one of my orders.

There are many Chinese restaurants on staten island… but my opinion is that kims island is the best tasting-and very efficient. I always order take out. Quick service-very sweet on the phone. Food is very flavorful.

I ordered in from Kim’s Island for the first time this evening and was pleasantly surprised. We ordered small sizes of chicken and broccoli, pepper steak, and pork lo mein. We had the food delivered and we were told that the delivery would be about 25 minutes to a half hour, but the food came in about 15 minutes and was piping hot. All the ingredients were fresh… no greasiness at all! There was enough food for four of us and we still had a bit left over. We all commented on the freshness. The only thing I would have done differently was I would have ordered an extra pint of rice… only one pint came with the order. The price was right though…$ 14 and change for the entire order!

I don’t remember how I discovered Kim’s Island Chinese Restaurant but I’m sure glad I did. I have never stepped foot inside this establishment so I can’t speak of its cleanliness. However, I’ve come to know their delivery person quite well so I can speak at length about the food. As is typical of most take-out/delivery Chinese restaurants in NYC, the prices are cheap. However, unlike other places, the food is not overly greasy. The ingredients used in their dishes look and taste fresh. Their garlic sauces actually taste like garlic! Can you imagine? I have also found out that they will substitute items for no charge. When I asked, they gave me a spring roll instead of an egg roll with my combination plate. I’ve also been known to order chicken with mixed vegetables in garlic sauce with brown rice when their menu lists«chicken with mixed vegetables with white rice.» Other restaurants have charged me for making such small alterations to their dishes, so I was glad to learn that Kim’s Island does not. Their lunch menu is in effect from 11AM until 3:30PM. They offer free delivery with a minimum order of $ 10. They also accept Visa and MasterCard credit cards.
