Michael’s Moving & Storage

This company is a serious JOKE! These guys are not professional what so ever. They dont even have the proper tools to do anything. They made marks all over my brand new walls, they throw boxes without care. Most of my furniture has cracks and chipped off edges.
I could tell they didnt want to work cus towards the end they werent doing sh*t! I was doing all the work. They were just waiting with the papers to be signed so they can bounce. They don’t take care of trash unless you give it to them. They just don’t pick up after themselves PERIOD!
Do yourselves a favor and and look for a different company cuz these guys dont give a Shi* about any of your households. They dont care about your brand new flooring nor your freshly painted walls. No one cared to make my bed or anything else they were supposed to. I had to ask them to do it.
They thought we were stupid and tried to lie to us about something we already knew but tried to get out of it. SMH…
I had to find out at night that my bed was broken. After a long day of unpacking and cleaning i took a shower and put one knee on the bed to go on and all of a sudden it broke. They didnt screw on the frame they just some how hooked it on and covered it with the mattress thats why when I tried to get on my bed it collapsed.
We move around every couple years and so far this company was the WORST moving company EVER! I never had to write a negative review about any of the other companies. Lazy workers. Unprofessional. Unfrienly. Stay away from Michaels moving and storage!

WOULD NOT USE. They low-​balled us without even coming to see the amount of stuff to move. Then triple booked us and showed up hours late after spinning some yarn about a «truck accident» when I saw the same truck parked around the corner unloading. They had to store our stuff over night as they were so far behind and deliver to new apartment next day. They offered very little discount for the trouble. The woman on the phone said she was not a «s-​bag» and would talk to Michael and get back to us about more consideration. Which she did not. We boxed everything and ended up paying what OZ had charged us to pack it them selves and move when we moved in.
No moving company is all that great, but these guys rank pretty low. The guys on the truck were nice enough (how could they not be when they’re made to look like idiots) and commiserated on how the business is run. They did the job as quickly as they could and did not break anything. The business is run by lo-​rent gangsters in Staten Island. Use OZ or Schleppers, they were better. They did what they said they would do at the time and price quoted. Micheal’s is gaming the schedule and you end up losing. USE SOMEONE ELSE.

These guys were super nice, friendly and professional. They took great care to wrap everything more than adequately and prevented anything from being damaged. They were efficient with their teamwork and didn’t laze around letting the clock elapse. I bought them lunch and they barely even ate it because they were so busy working on our move. They were great with my antique furniture, artwork, mirrors, TV, everything.
I was referred by Stuy Town and Michaels movers are experts with moving here. I was a little worried at first because their estimate seemed low — but the extra hours above their original estimate did not make the total too high because their labor rate is so competitive. Payment was easy as well. A million times better than crappy New York Movers that did my last move!

I moved from NJ to NY and they were up to the task. I got a great quote and this was my first experience with movers so I didn’t know what to expect. I ended up boxing and wrapping all the furniture myself beforehand because I wasn’t sure if they did it or not.
They arrived timely that morning. Michael (?) assessed the job and started rewrapping some of my furniture to really protect it. I did not get charged for that. It was a sweltering 100 degree summer day and the guys worked pretty hard. They were social and I ended up even giving the guys an expensive Boombox Stereo as well as a computer desk I no longer needed as a gift.
The main issue I ran into was when they moved my stuff in, one of my Ikea Malm drawers broke. The wooden piece separating the 2 drawers smashed in half. I showed Michael what happened and was pretty nice about it. I was going to glue the wood back together but he insisted he would replace the piece for me. He even wrote on the receipt that the dresser broke. There were also some nicks on my other dressers but honestly I’m not really fussy. It was Ikea furniture after all.
So a week goes by and no followup on fixing my broken dresser. I made several calls and left several messages and never got a call back. Finally I found Michaels direct cell number and called him on numerous occasions spanning a few months and every time he would just apologize and said his friend was working on it. Well it’s a year later now and he still has not come through on his promise nor return my phone calls.
What irks me more is, other than breaking the dresser (accidents happen), I recommended them to a friend shortly after my move. And I had 2 more moves this year with family that I wanted to use them for but I had to go with someone else because Michael didn’t come through on his word and I don’t like doing business with someone like that.
Lastly, the job did over the quote by $ 100 but I expected something like that to happen because of the long trip and all. It’s a shame they lost out on a lot of my business for such a silly thing. Mover beware.

These guys were awesome and made moving from 2 apartments into 1 as painless as possible.
My GF and I needed to find movers QUICK and didn’t really feel like spending $ 1K that most insured companies were quoting us. The woman on the phone (I’ve unfortunately forgotten her name) was helpful in providing us a quote of $ 513 for a 4-​hour move and arranged for the insurance paperwork to be sent to our new management company in just two days ahead of the move.
As for the movers, I have nothing but praise. Our crew of three arrived about a half-​hour late on a Thursday morning, but called ahead to let us know. Upon arrival, they wasted no time wrapping up my HEAVY dresser and other bedroom furniture and got all of my boxed items from a 4^th floor walkup into the truck in about an hour. Stop #2 was across town at my GF’s apartment, which took slightly longer but they handled her stuff equally well, including a very good job packing her 65-​inch TV and bed frame.
Our move took just a few minutes more than the 4 hours quoted, and I was expecting to negotiate the overage, but to my pleasant surprise they only charged us the quoted rate and were all EXTREMELY friendly during the entire day.
I have zero complaints about the entire process, but do have some advice for people who think movers are somehow capable of disassembling all of your furniture and moving it in 4 hours — get a clue. I had literally everything actually READY for the move, and we didn’t even have a couch or living room furniture, and it still took them over four hours despite working their collective asses off the entire time.
Oh, and if you start the day off by offering them a snack and telling them to help themselves to bottled water in the fridge, you’ll probably get the most out of your crew. Mine was rewarded with a nice tip at the end of the day as well, which was very well-​deserved.

I had a great crew of guys show up, promptly on time, as promised. After shopping around, Michael’s had the lowest quote and I was nervous about that being inflated (first time using a moving company). But nope! At the end of the day, I paid the price I was quoted over the phone.
Moving day was a heat wave. The crew showed up on time, properly wrapped all my furniture, moved me into my new place within 4 hours. They were polite, professional and respectful of my personal items. Never complained about the heat, I mean really, who has water on hand when you’re moving?
The rep Jackie was great — I rescheduled my move date about 3 times (my new place wasn’t ready) and I always got a new moving date whenever I called.
Will def use them on my next move!!!

I was moderately impressed with these guys, although my move would be pretty difficult to fail on. I had not a whole lot of stuff, and very little fragile things that movers tend to enjoy breaking. Saying that, following feedback:
Movers were friendly, helpful, efficient. The disassembled my bed, reassembled it afterwards… not many complaints from that point of view.
One thing was sort of broken — a couple of thick wires supporting the lampshade on one of my lamps — but it was Ikea, and while a shame, the lampshade still stays on, just isn’t as sturdy as it was. It was moderately fragile anyway.
While they forgot my ironing board (my brother’s brain failed and he didn’t review the list of stuff prior to signing) and couldn’t find it, they refunded me $ 10 for a new one, no questions asked.
They misquoted on the return trip (I had them move stuff into their storage then back), however I do not believe this was malicious: just simply miscalculating on where the storage had been charged.
The people on the phone were polite and courteous: during my move/​furniture hunt/​house hunt, I’ve dealt with so many people who seem to miss the concept of «respect» or «courtesy», that it was a pleasant relief to be treated like a human.
In general, I trust them, they seem pretty good, just a little rough around the edges with regards to professionalism. I’d give them another go.

I like family businesses but can’t recommend based on experience.
1. They will not book or confirm the time of the move until the day before. Some of us need to know if we’re moving in the morning or afternoon. Even a 2 hour window would have been nice.
2. The actual movers were nice but not that careful. They ended up breaking our flatscreen TV by banging it into the door and…
3. The insurance company Michael’s uses would not cover the TV repair bc it was «mechanical». Only if they cracked the screen. Why did I pay the extra $ 25 for insurance???
Moving sucks. So do moving companies.
