I was very surprised with the poor manager & methods of making a sale. I went in looking for a lease. picked out a used car. they asked for a $ 100 deposit, I have $ 1000, when to close the deal. they charges a few fees, which I was surprised with. .I didn’t like the deal so I wanted to walk out. I spoke with the sales-​rep who talked me to come back. when I came back. their manager told me I had to pay an addition $ 1000 for the car if i want it. I asked for my money back. they told me I had to wait a week. but they didn’t wait a week to make their decision on charging me extra $ 1000! I was so pissed. and guess what their sales-​rep was actually on my side & was pissed to at their employee. This place had so much issues. we walked away from the deal & they not only lost my sale. but the few others from the people that was around me as I wasn’t planning to go out of the store quietly. They tried to scare me by calling the cops saying i was a rude customer in their store. But the management & the staff’s way of doing business is what drove you out of Staten Island. because they told me they were bought off. the car was then sold to someone else. but we drove by a few times. Staten island isn’t big. and the car we wanted stood out like a sore thumb in their lot to this day! they told me «Island» bought them off. if its true or not. these people should be bought off! Bad name for Volkswagen. I am not a bad person to right a bad review. but this experience worthy of talking to people about! I felt bad for their sales-​rep, cause I even tipped him good money for his help to sell me a car. Called/​emailed their corp office no response yet. that guy i think was roger. not worthy of talking to any more. their manager even told me that he never calls or replies to any email! wow!

Excellent service on my 2010 Jetta TDI Sports wagon yesterday. Staff very willing to answer any of my concerns. Topped off with a car wash!

5 star experience, all thanks to our salesman David. I purchased a 2014 Jetta recently and the car runs beautifully. We are repeat buyers and David is more than patient with us, not to mention that his professionalism is superior and we couldn’t be anymore appreciative for that. This is my 3^rd car purchased on Staten Island, the first 2 were marathon sales events, I expected the same when I walked into Open Road VW and was surprised that I was able to test drive and get a price quote in about an hour. I got the car I wanted at a fair price, delivered when I needed it

Don’t go here for any service repairs. Last year I experienced a problem with the engine light coming on and it was diagnosed as the common intake flap problem that the last few years of their models and audi’s that share that particular intake were having. Without telling them, corporate VW sent me a letter saying that they’re extending my warranty on the intake in case this should happen — they’re way of avoiding bad press by issuing a recall. I took my car in and they replaced it. A few days later I started experiencing the same issues as well as the smell of fuel. I had a VW mechanic not affiliated with the shop take a look at it and he found that not only had they broken a sensor which he replaced for me, they also reused the old seals which created a leak. He then towed the car to them so they could fix that being it was related to the warranty work they just did. I get my car back and drive for a few days and bam same symptoms start happening. The following morning I go to bring my car in and it doesn’t start at all. On a hunch, because I do know a little about cars, I check my oil and was surprised to find that there was no oil. My VW mechanic picks up my car and finds out that the engine is now dead. He tows it back to the open road vw shop. They tell me it’s gonna cost about $ 7,000 to fix. After going back and forth with them and corporate VW they covered the cost of the part but I had to cover the labor which was about $ 2,000 all for a problem they caused. The next part of it, they tell me that because they don’t have a loaner car for me to go to enterprise and they will cover the cost of the rental. After 2 days they tell me they have a loaner car and that I have to bring the rental back. After about a week and a half I finally get my car back and all is finally well. Not to mention during this whole process their mechanics kept diagnosing the wrong problems and if it wasn’t for me having an obd2 scanner and my own vw mechanic, they would have never known. Fast foward 3 months I get a charge on my credit card for Enterprise from the rental during this process because VW never paid the bill. When I called VW up they told me it wasn’t their responsibility. In the end, after a week of arguing, Eric gave me a somewhat acceptable solution of giving me a credit for future service there in the same amount of the Enterprise bill.

With the amount of resources available on the Internet, buying a vehicle has become the easiest it has ever been. After a thorough search for a Denim Blue Convertible Beetle, I found myself making a trip to Open Road Volkswagen of Staten Island. Living in New Jersey, I was very skeptical about buying a vehicle out of state due to the amount of paperwork involved. As soon as I entered the dealership, I was greeted by David La Monica, the General Sales Manager, and I told him exactly what I needed. Jokingly, the first thing he said to me was, «Geez, I hope you’re not worried about the trunk size!» (For a second I had forgotten that I stepped into a dealership in Staten Island). His amazing sense of humor grabbed my attention instantly. He directed me to a Sales Associate, Douglas Arnold, who turned out to be a fellow outdoorsman. Douglas was very knowledgeable and professional in every aspect of this deal. Even throughout the whole process, the General Manager, Justin Patel, was always around greeting customers and entrusting his team to guarantee the highest level of service. Before I knew it, I was surprising my lady with a brand new convertible beetle!

Great service. I got a great deal n my lease of a VW Jetta, I’m super happy with my new car! The people at the dear did not pressure us and help us make the correct decision according to our needs and budget. Everyone worked with us to make us happy with our new car. Totally recommended!
Ps– Maybe the new management? — I have read very poor reviews in the past, but it seems things have change a lot here since then.

Excellent experience. We received a great deal here for a 2013 Volkswagen Passat. Finance manager is very transparent, no hidden fees and explains everything in detail. I highly recommend this dealership…
Update 2014: After my last one year inspection, it turns out the guys pumped too much air into my tires and I ended up actually ripping one after hitting a pot hole… When I went to get a new one at my local shop, they checked the air on all the tires and they were all over inflated… Three stars

Just like any other dealership service, they’re gonna try to sell you service you don’t need. they said i needed new rear brakes when I brought my car to get the 30,000 miles service. I brought it to a family friend’s auto shop and they told I didn’t need new rear brakes. I still had half the brake pad remaining. so it’s always better to have a mechanic you can trust so you won’t get oversold. I thought Chris was a good service advisor tho. The others… not so much

I’ve had nothing but hassles from this dealership. It has taken 6 weeks to get license plates. The car was delivered with damage to the rear bumper, in balanced front wheels and missing tools from the rear of the car. When I brought the car in to get these items addressed, I was told that there was no issue with the wheels, the license plates weren’t ready and that the bumper hadn’t been repaired. They wouldn’t release the car to me since it had expired temporary plates and I’ve been waiting for them since. 6 days later, and I still don’t have the car. It’s been 12 days out of a brand new car and they don’t have the courtesy to call me. I received an email today that it will be an additional 4 days for the plates and that they won’t move a few items in my trunk to see what tools are missing; that’s my responsibility. The Sales Manager doesn’t hold his promises and won’t contact you back via phone. I’ll be getting my car back EVENTUALLY and won’t be returning for future service. Do yourself a favor and use a different dealership.

I can’t say enough about the staff at Open Road Volkswagen. From the minute I walked in, to the day I picked up my new car they made the entire process extremely easy. My salesman was as professional as he was nice. All insurance issues were taken care of without my even getting involved. I have been leasing cars for 12 years and no-​one has ever done this for me. As much as I love getting a new car, I have to admit it’s the red tape than ruins the experience for me. Volkswagen takes that into their hands, the way it should be. And Volkswagen offers so many services that other car companies do not. I have dealt with many car salespeople and they make it totally clear that all they care about is their commission. These other car dealerships never once made me test drive the car, they were too interested is getting my money and signing paperwork! Not at Open Road. My salesman would not even discuss prices until I drove the car! If you live near this dealership and are considering a Volkswagen, you must go to Open Road. Try to meet with Tim, (no, I don’t know him personally) he is really a pleasure to work with.

I know, I know… it’s weird to give 5 stars to a car dealer. I did not purchase my VW here, but I have taken both my and my wife’s car here for service multiple times. Eric, our service adviser, always makes it a seamless experience. All the service is done quickly and correctly and I never feel as though they are trying to pad the bill with unnecessary services. When my lease is up, I will be buying my next VW with them. This is the first time I have ever felt a car dealer worthy of a recommendation.
