So I’ve been taking lunch from this place for over 10 years. I’ve watch them grow and get passed down the family tree. Unfortunately with time came less attention to the way the food tastes, attitude of the staff and upkeep of the place. The only thing that didn’t failed to deteriorate are the prices, those are on a steady unrelenting clime. It all culminated today when I stopped by for a light lunch of fish and salad. It started with me browsing the selection of food alone in an empty place for more then ten minutes, empty of costumes and staff… at noon! When finely I get service, refuse mandatory rice and ask for pice of fish alone she stuffs the plate with FIVE Tilapia files. My plea about the overabundance of fish go ignored, instead she asked what else would I like. I should of quit right there but I didn’t and I ended up with plate full of fish topped with cabbage and radish salad. Then came the«squeeze» and presto, fish cabbage sandwich!!! And how much you ask I paid for this culinary marvel??? $ 10 …no rice no soda. So I’m sitting here eating my warm bitter salad and fishy dried file trying to justify two stars, …fine! for old time sake.

As a Puerto Rican on Staten Island, quality, authentic Spanish food seems impossible to find. Luckily, I live 5 minutes from here! My dad frequents this place a few times a week. The food is delicious. I’ve had basically everything they offer and have never been disappointed with their low prices and hefty portions. Usually one order of rice and pernil lasts me for two meals. My personal favorite is the arroz con gandules with pernil and the soup is exactly what you need when you’re feeling under the weather!

I love it here. Whenever I want quick Spanish food this is my go to place. I love their pork chips, the pernil and the roasted chicken. They have a family special where you get rice, beans, a roasted chicken and a soda which serves 3 or 4 depending on your appetite. Every time I go this place is always full and the music is always playing. They don’t take credit cards so make sure you have cash. Enjoy!

The food is really good. If you enjoy latin food come get a plate. Although it’s not a great place to sit and eat take out does it for me. A little $$, but I guess the rent is expensive. Get your eat on.

Where do I start… I was craving white rice and beans with the works so since I was near by I decided to order takeout. I got white rice with stewed ribs and red beans. The break down: The beans were flavorless and uneatable, white rice was fine(hard to mess that up) the stewed ribs were so so … I also tried the flan, not good :(… A long time ago I had their mangu breakfast and this was good. Maybe I just ate here on the wrong day as sometimes restaurants have different cooks. Neways maybe I’ll come back for the breakfast another time.

My friend was curious about Dominican food. I ate Spanish food before always did. They food is serviced like buffet style. It is found behind a glass and you would have to get on line pick out what you want and they will begin it out to a table you sit. The food was good I enjoyed a ½ chicken with my friend and their rice reminding me being back in at my native friends home! They gave so much food! We couldn’t finish it all at least I couldn’t! Overall I wasn’t that thrill about their serving system and how their is a grocery found at the front selling phone cards, Meds and other things you normally don’t find on a restaurant but in a bodega. Happy eattings!

Disappointing, I get takeout from this place 4 – 6 times a year for many years. This time my peril was without moisture the driest meat I’ve ever ate. Beans were good would have preferred the white rice. Less salty. But that is a preference, Must have been a very bad day! That’s why I gave this place 4 star

.. went 4 days in a row during work on my break. this is my 1st Dominican place to eat in the island so i dont have anything to really compare. But the fact i went 4 days means it’s really good. The price is good for the amount U get. i’ve tried the pork chop, liver, pernil, pig’s feet, & what seems to be pork belly. i was not disappointed at all. the staff is friendly enough & can understand english since as a non-Spanish speaker, my Spanish is weak. My goal is to try 95% of their selections. The pernil is pretty good. Probably the 2nd best i’ve had compared to this place in Philly.

No one can understand how much I love Dominican food and to have this spot so close can be very tempting. I love me some Pernil and arroz con habichuelas. Thankfully, I am only a 10 minute walk away because at times finding parking at this place can be very challenging so if you planning to try this spot you’ve been warned!

Excellent Pernil. Rice and beans are delicious. Great lunch spot. Not a fancy place but it’s clean, the staff is friendly and the price is right. Most important the food is fresh and delicious.

Great place to get quick and delicious Spanish food. The food always tastes fresh and they have a great variety of hot dishes: pernil, baccalau sp?, chicken stews, beef stews, fried fish, spaghetti, etc. to choose from. They also have a variety desserts(flan and bread pudding usually) and salads as well. I subtracted a star because if you don’t watch them they will try to give you a disproportionate amount of rice and only an itty bitty amount of meat and the women that work there have a serious attitude problem. The food is good though and the prices aren’t atrocious so I’ll be back.

My cousin visits here regularly. On my last visit to NY this past weekend she brought some home for us to try for lunch. Delicious! I had to go back and get a family size meal for 15.95 to take home back to Boston. The sweet plantains were delicious. The rice, chicken and chicken empanadas were delicious and fresh.

So, here is another good review from me to you, and after reading everyones reviews all I can agree with is that the parking is Horrible. the lots way to small and always getting jammed up, but after finding parking elsewhere, I walk in for my third time or so, and with no problems we get on line(which moves fast), order our food, asks to stay or go, we said stay, puts our food on a tray, walks with us to the table, we sit and eat. And yano what? The food was really good just like the last few times, sweet plaentains were unbelievable, along with the beef stew, my date had the ribs with rice and red beans and though it was quite good as well. Now the bill comes and to much of everyone’s complaint its under $ 20. I for one dont see a problem with that, if the food was bad then yea, but the food was really good, its cheaper than a diner and almost as much as fast food places now days, and its satisfies a craving. all in all, I like the place, and will be heading back, but i must agree, the parking needs much work.

This is my new go to spot when I’m on the island and starving for some Spanish Food. There’s no frills with this establishment. One plate of rice and beans with a protein will definitely fill your belly up and satisfy your craving for Spanish food. The gf and I wasn’t trying to feel like fat pigs so we split one plate of rice and beans with pernil and sweet plantains, which hit the spot and didn’t leave us with a over stuffed belly. *Cash only*

Food: 4 to 5 stars I got the roasted chicken once and it was terribly dry but the stewed chicken, rice, maduros– it was so good I ate it two days in a row. This is real deal dominican food and it really feels good to eat it. I thought the flan was meh, though. You can skip dessert. Location: 0 stars. The parking lot is horrible and someone jacked the parking spot I had been waiting for. There are also threatening signs all over the place telling you not to park in spots for the bar next door or you will be towed. Park in Bank of America and walk over. Service and Price: All of the other Dominican restaurants i have been to cost about 2⁄3 of what this one cost, but those are in Manhattan. I agree its expensive for Dominican food, but not expensive enough not to eat there. Service I felt was a little standoffish because I am obviously not Dominican and do not speak Spanish I felt like I may have gotten a different level of service than someone else who was Dominican or spoke Spanish. You don’t want to feel weird about a restaurant– you want to feel welcome there. I did not feel entirely welcome there. But as I said the food was good and I will return there. One of my favorite places to eat on the island. Amazing home cooked food, sweetest servers and lots of choices! I love everything– pernil, gandules, empanadas, maduros, ropa vieja. You can feed a family for $ 20. They only take cash but there’s an ATM by the register. There are tables to dine in and one of the ladies behind the counter will bring the food to your table.
