I’ve been going to Cloud 9 for years, and it is by far the most relaxing and peaceful experience I’ve had in terms of massages. Dawn is an amazing massage therapist, and I’m pretty sure she has magic fingers because she finds problem spots in muscles and aches that I didn’t even know existed! In response to the one negative review, every employee working at Cloud 9 has always been professional, welcoming and accommodating. Please consider the majority of the reviews if considering cloud 9. While the prices are definitely up there, if you get a massage therapist like Dawn, it’s totally worth it.

I love this place! Always a great treat when I’m looking to unwind for the day. Great ambience. Great staff. Never a disappointment. I walk out feeling refreshed. The yoga classes are awesome too!

I wonder if there is any professionalism left in our profession. Of course there is. I know this because I myself am a massage professional. That is why it is brutally painful for me to write this review but also necessary because in this case I was a client. I begin this review with a basic question: What happened to basic client confidentiality? I ask this because the owner as I exit my massage asks me where I work as a massage therapist. After receiving a horrible massage that was not worth $ 90 but paying for it anyway and leaving a decent tip(not my usual because sorry but it wasn’t worth it and I really shouldn’t have left a tip period because I was that dissatisfied) as well, i reply that’s my personal business and I don’t want to discuss it and I shake my head. The owner then tells me that she thought there was comradery between fellow therapists. What the hell does this have to do with comradery? That’s my personal business and you aren’t even my therapist. I’m there on business to receive a massage as a client I’m not here on a social call for you to poke your nose in my business. Then she announces to me that she is the owner. Yeah so and what? That gives you the ok to be inappropriate and unprofessional? I’d like to know how you want to bring up the topic of comradery when your reputation precedes you as being an underpayer in the profession. I understand that you pay your therapists less than $ 30/hr when you are charging your clients $ 90/hr. Perhaps you would be able to get a more skilled therapist to work for you if you were paying them what they are worth. Does all of this sound very harsh? Not as harsh as paying over $ 100 for a service that sucks! As a massage therapist myself, it literally pains me to see what is going on in our industry specifically the poor education and poor payment of massage therapists, which brings me to my massage. Let me start by saying the the therapist was very sweet and kind and somewhat professional but not completely professional. I booked a deep tissue massage. First off, the table itself was very comfortable but the face craddle was extremely small, like maybe the size of a child’s head.(no exaggeration) When the therapist walked in the room, the first words out of her mouth were, so how long have you been doing massage. Very unprofessional. For those of you who don’t know massage ethics 101, the therapist is not suppose to be conversational with you unless it pertains to the work and the client engages you. How long I have been a massage therapist has no relevancy to the work that needs to be done. I told her I didn’t wish to discuss that. She apologized. The massage itself was very disjointed and the therapist was hitting more bone particularly on the pelvis than muscle. She did not engage the muscle and sink into address the deeper layers of the muscle, some of the strokes where abrupt and literally pointless. As far as the leg work, what leg work? I specified that she shouldn’t work my left front lower leg but everything else was fine. She didn’t even make it to the back upper leg and glute specifically on the left side and her idea of working the glute on the right side was to completely skip over Maximus. smh Again there was no engagement of the muscles just a lot of rubbing. She turned me over and began working on my neck. Again terrible. She would start on a muscle and then just end up somewhere off the muscle. I seriously felt like I was getting a massage from a student someone who barely knew what they were doing and had zero confidence. I had to tell her to stop and skip my neck. She asked me if I wanted her to stop. I told her I wasn’t enjoying the massage and I really didn’t know what to do at this point. She said she could tell I wasn’t enjoying the massage. She continued on to the rest — arms and legs. I knew that she was trying to do a good job that is what was sad was that I could tell she was a kind person and cared but it was apparent that she just didn’t have good training. All I can tell you is that this massage was not up to par, definitely not worth $ 90 and extremely disappointing. It’s painful to really need good work and have to deal with unprofessionalism and incompetence. It’s really horrible to have to write such an angry and poor review for a fellow therapist but it gets really old after awhile to throw away over $ 100 of your hard earned money and not receive what you are paying for and then have to deal with the owner who is just as unprofessional and out of line. Will never go back again. Pay your therapists well so that you can hire a therapist with the skill to give a solid service. This is unethical! 12÷23÷15 Thank you for proving my point about how unprofessional this establishment is with a response that reflects my experience. I disclosed my profession in my intake form and was there as a customer to receive a service. I do not own a business or work on SI.

Loved it and I loved how it was an old Victorian house. We got couples massages and I relaxed and had some tea before. It was a good experience… can’t wait to go back.

I have been coming here for years. Claudia is by far the best massage therapist here. I have tried others because it’s impossible to get a last minute appointment with her. They were good, but the bar has been set very high by Claudia. If you do want a specific massage therapist, they are good about putting customers on a wait list in hopes of a cancellation. On that note, I’m disappointed how much the price has increased over the years. I don’t frequent here as much as I did in the past because it’s gotten too expensive. It’s a basic spa. The spa ran great specials in the past and now it’s hard to get any worthwhile discounts. I tried a facial two years ago during spa week and was unimpressed. I hope the owner listens to her former loyal customers and brings back the discounts and/or affordable prices.

This is probably one of the nicest spas on Staten Island. The staff is very accommodating, the massages are great, and the relaxing music that they play puts you in a calm mood. Overall the place is clean, the prices are reasonable, and they also have a couple’s sweet for you and your significant other! I’ll surely be back!

Every time I come to relax on cloud 9, is exactly what I get, a nice relaxing experience! I have been coming here for a few years now, I only wish is that I could come more often. I sometimes go 6 months in between visits. With this in mind, I will try to get a relaxing massage every 3 months.

We usually only go for the massages which are really good. Like one reviewer before me mentioned the massages are not a full 60 minutes. The ambiance and the classical musical playing in the background is very relaxing. I’ve had a spray tan, facials, massages and a mineral bath at RC9 and all except for the spray tan were really very good. I’ll stick to beach bum for the tan. I’m booked for a sauna and massage combo next, can’t wait!

I love this place. It is my favorite place to get a massage even though I don’t even live in Staten Island anymore and beats any of the places I have been to in other states. The prices are very reasonable and I’ve never had an issue getting a timely appointment. Yesterday I saw Dawn after straining a muscle in my shoulder(which is a chronic problem) and sitting on a cross-country flight and she did an amazing job. She asked a lot of questions to make sure I was comfortable and alternated massage and heat to help relax the shoulder muscle, which felt so good. She instructed me to ice it when I got home and I feel so much better today! One of the best massages I have ever had.

In the past, I had a really great experience here. My massage was excellent and it was reasonably priced. This time, my massage was mediocre at best. I don’t think I’d come back here again.

My girlfriends and I had a wonderful time at this spa recently. We each had a 45-min massage and enjoyed the sauna beforehand. The last time we got to do this together was 8 years ago, which was before I moved to CA and we all got hitched and had kids. I was surprised that there weren’t any reviews on Unilocal for this place(with the exception of 1 but it has this place listed under«yoga»). But I’m glad to put it on the Unilocal map. The staff were kind — Doreen is awesome — and accommodating, and the facilities are absolutely charming(the spa is located in a pre-1900s house). The prices are very reasonable given the quality of the massage, the atmosphere, the staff’s attention to detail, lovely waiting area and facilities. We look forward to going again. I know my friends are planning to bring their hubbies for a romantic escape. It was very man-friendly. They had rooms with 2 massage beds, their sauna and shower room accommodated at least 2 people and the décor wasn’t frilly and pink. The sauna before the massage is a must — it’s so inexpensive too — and we are definitely going to hang out in the sauna after the massage next time. And we will probably try some of the other services, like a facial. They carry Dermalogica, and I love those products. Super place. Lovely spa experience.

I came here yesterday for what I hope to be the first of many prenatal massages. As the two little boys in my belly grow, so does my belly… at an insanely rapid rate! I am feeling the associated aches and pains of a protruding middle and carrying around 15lbs of extra weight. I need relief and relaxation. I pass this place every time I visit my parents… so…here goes nuthin. Well, nuthing but $ 80. Speaking of nothing, I can find nothing wrong with Cloud Nine. It was a nice experience from beginning to end. It is easy to find, there is off street parking, the atmosphere is calm and cozy, the staff is warm and kind, and the massage room was clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. My massage therapist did a fine job. And yet… I was not blown away. I did not experience bliss. I would have liked… uh…less oil and more pressure. It felt more like a relaxing rub down than the remove my aches kind of massage I was wanting. I did tell him he could increase the pressure during massage, but still got pretty much the same. I have a feeling if you book one of their many other massage types, you will get just that. Perhaps the nature of a prenatal massage lingers on the assumption that preggo mom is delicate and mustn’t be rubbed too vigorously. CRAP is what i say to that.
