It’s funny how on the loud speaker they keep repeating how helpful their associates are and when it comes to the real deal of asking one of them for help they look at you as if you were just another headache, I’m new to home improvement I was at the paint department and the guy in charge of that department(guy with dread locks) in a very nasty manner said what do you want?! whatever you see is what I got! … For some one who’s starting in this new world of home improvement thus is not how you expect to begin your first experience I was wasn’t expecting the guy to go beyond his duties but at least show some manners if he isn’t qualified for the job or at least show some respect.

Pretty standard for a Home Depot. The lot is huge and it might actually be somewhat bigger than the other HDs on the island.

Pretty poor store, even compared to similar HD’s. Sure, you can still find an actual helpful, knowledgeable people working there, BUT even they most likely won’t be able to help you due to things like messed-up inventory and store shelves. I went there some time ago to look up the specific plumbing part(which was supposed to be «in stock», according to HD’s website), couldn’t find it(but noticed how«messy» the particular store shelf was, with parts from multiple nearby boxes mixed randomly together), asked the person who was working there to help me, she did try to find it on the shelves where the item was supposed to be located but also couldn’t do it, then she also commented on the mess of different parts from different boxes mixed in together, afterwards she tried to go to the stock room, came back and said for some reason they don’t have it in stock anymore. Even though the website claimed they did… Another time I went in to buy a few LED bulbs(which can be found cheaper elsewhere but I needed them the same day). Picked a couple of Philips LED lightbulb packs, mistakenly didn’t check their contents while being in store BUT when I opened the packs at home — inside one of them was a less powerful, cheaper CCFL bulb… So yea, just another example of how poorly this store manages/checks their own inventory. All in all, definitely try to avoid it(or any other local HD stores) if you can find same or similar part/item online. Sure, returning items is much easier to local, «offline» store BUT the wasted time and money(in most cases you can find similar parts elsewhere, for cheaper price) cannot really offset that single positive aspect.

This is a Christmas specific review. Awful Awful Awful experience getting a real tree there. Workers there want as little to do with people shopping as possible. Every time someone needed to have a tree cut and wrapped, the store had to page someone to come to the outdoor garden; no one was ever there(store was not that busy at this time). For years they’ve had employees who will help you get your tree to your car and tie it up. That’s why you go back. Not anymore. I asked if they would help and they said«not us’ and told me where I could buy string near the front register on other side of the store. Buy string? The one star is for an employee who was stunned when I told him I couldn’t get any help. He came to find out what happened but then assigned a kid to me that had no idea what he was doing. I get that these people are seasonal but they are Home Depot employees for the next month or so. They should know their jobs. In the end, it was all done by us which many will say that’s how it should be. But it’s always been with help in the past. The kids help and you tip them very well because it’s Christmas. It’s fun. This isn’t a «I’m never going to Home Depot again» review. But I’ll stick to the Forest Avenue one or those $ 29.99 tree guys going forward.

I had a horrible experience at the Cropsey Avenue location in Brooklyn(I wrote a review for that one, too) and decided to try out the one on the island. I wasn’t disappointed and will definitely shop here again. I ordered an air conditioner online for store pickup at 8:30 this morning. By 9:30, it was ready for me. The parking lot is huge and I found a spot immediately. It wasn’t crowded, so I didn’t have to wait on a line. The employees were very friendly and helpful; I was in and out in 10 minutes.

We have purchased a Webber grill from our local The Home Depot just to realize that the store is selling aTWO-year old version in the store as well as a new and improved grill on their website. There is no discount offered for the older version, and really there no description stating that this is no longer in production. Also, we paid $ 20 for home delivery, but you have to be available from9 to 5 to accept it. Even on the day of delivery, the store can not tell you when the merchandise will be delivered. When we brought the grill back, it have taken a few minute for somebody in customer service to give us their attention. And they were NOT understaffed …

I must give five stars thanks to a very helpful person named john from plumbing. Thank you for taking the time to help my father in getting the gas pipe rethreaded. I will now only be Coming to this home depot. The place seems also more organized then the other two on staten island.

Most reviews are right… If you dont know what you need. your gonna have a problem… if your on a mission for something they have it.

compared to the Home Depot on Targee street this is a much better one. I only say that because i believe the staff is much more helpful and amicable. Only on occasion do you get a «young» employee who knows nothing about painting, constructing, or repairing. I understand that people my age needs too, but they need to be trained properly.

I’ve gone to this home depot many times and can always find what I need, BUTHRREALLY needs to work on who they hire. Everyone I’ve ever talked to is more ignorant, nasty and plain clueless then the next. It took me THREE phone calls to order something when I already knew exactly what I needed credit card ready. totally fool proof, or so I thought. Unbelievable.

We should just set up a monthly automated deposit to the Depot. Now that we own our own home(YAAAAY!), I cannot keep my husband out of here. I tell him what we don’t need and he comes home with that plus 10 other things. Now I know why he never wants me to go with him… I would give him the«dowereallyneedTHATlook??» Or, «weareonaBUDGETnowlook». I suppose I don’t want him looking over my shoulder when I purchase the 48th lip gloss because it has an opal shimmer instead of the pearl, silver, sparkle, or clear shimmer. You can find things such as: shower caddy, garbage pails, rake, shovel, snow blower, work gloves, wood glue, caulk, plants, etc…

Better know what your going for otherwise you wont be able to get help from any of the workers.
