Beautiful big Walgreens, nice parking, Great drive thru pharmacy, an always great sales. Employees kind of stalk you around as if your going to thief but after a min or so they back off Annoying but I guess it’s bc of Their neighborhood junkies that stroll in an Robb them blind of merchandise. Who knows I’m a paying customer back up off me an I damn sure don’t look like a junkie. After a few times of coming in they get to know you as a regular. So it’s cool now. Pharmacy is nice employees are cool. I come in if its an emergency or if they have a better sale then cvs. :)

I am passionate about two things related to Walgreens — chocolate and photography. I buy great ***genuine German 70 percent cocoa***(«DeLish» brand — the house brand) chocolate bars from Walgreens store number 1598 for $ 2 a bar. Wow. I also use this Walgreens for c41 film processing. They are excellent. For this reason I decided to try my luck at store 9832 in Rosebank, Staten Island. This was an error I will not repeat. Afterwards I complained to corporate — and never got any sort of reply. That’s very telling. Here are the details of what can best be described as a fiasco: I dropped off a roll of color film and was told it had to be sent out as this(new) Walgreens doesn’t do processing. The increases the wait time from one hour to one week. I said, «okay,» thinking that Fuji would do a good job so maybe it was better than having a non-photog shove my negatives into a machine(experience has taught me that fingerprints, embedded dust, and creases on negatives, frames cut in half, etc. are the norm when youngsters are drafted to do processing without training). When I placed the order I said: «C41 processing only — develop the negatives and burn a CD, no prints. And I want thenegatives cut in strips of four frames and then sleeved.» I do this all the time at Walgreens store number 1598 with no hassle. When I picked up the order there was a set of prints — I said, «okay, I’ll pay extra for a set of prints I don’t want,» hoping the CD contained good quality scans, after all this is Fuji we’re talking about… When I got to work I opened the envelope and was stunned. There were no negatives in the envelope. There were prints(which I expressively indicated I didn’t want) that looked worse than what I print on my bottom-of-the-line computer printer. I called Walgreens and the manager told me that Fuji ***keeps the negatives*** I said, «Huh? They are keeping my property — without even asking? NO.» The manager called Fuji who said, «We’ll make an exception this time and return the negatives.» Make an exception? As if they were doing me a favor by not appropriating my property? Meanwhile I looked at the CD. It was worse than the prints. The scans were garbage. This is relevant because I was told, «You don’t need the negatives, just bring the CD in if you want more prints.» I argued that printing off poor quality scans does not compare to printing off a negative — and in any case I didn’t want prints I wanted my negatives. The manager acknowledged these points… I gave him back my prints and the CD. He refunded the money and offered to just give me the prints/CD. I said thanks but«toss ‘em.» Two weeks after dropping off the film I finally got my negatives back — in a roll, Not cut in strips, not sleeved. I get to cut, sleeve, and scan the negatives myself, TWO weeks after dropping off my film at a one hour photo. Great. And of course, corporate never responded to my complaint. Not a peep. The Bottom Line: Somewhere in the dubious marriage of Walgreens and Fuji my property was appropriated(no one mentioned this would happen!), I was charged for something I expressly indicated I didn’t want, and then had to wait 5 days to get my property back after Fuji decided to do me a ‘favor’. I did get a refund and eventually the film. But where does Fuji(and Walgreens) get off appropriating people’s property — and doing poor quality work as well? None dare call this theft — although when you step in something unpleasant you know what it is, even if it goes nameless. The manager was very nice, very gracious, and very understanding — but he was the sole bright spot. Oh lest I forget — this Walgreens does not sell the DeLish dark German chocolate bars that I fancy. No photo processing, no chocolate — no way. One star given — it would be zero if that were possible. And Walgreens corporate customer relations? I would characterize that as an oxymoron — and me as a moron for wasting my time talking to them.
