The food here is really good, ate there a couple of times this past weekend. The décor is neat and the staff is friendly. At night it kind of becomes more of a bar type of place.

The only way to describe this dinner experience is the Jersey Shore meets Georgia. Full college bar experience reminds me of Memorial Day weekend in Point Pleasant with a southern twist. We opted to sit in the back of the bar/restaurant after seeing a band setting up in front. Place was busy, the bar area as you walk in looks sorta Bahama bar-ish. John was our waiter. Very upbeat guy who was super accommodating to our non-meat eating dining guests. Started with his recommendations of fried green tomatoes and fried mushrooms. Never had these tomatoes before — even though I live in JerZ, I usually eat mine ripe and not battered and fried. They were bland. Eh. The mushrooms were good cause they were quartered and big. Next was the shrimp and cheese grits. YUM!!! You need to try these. They were seasoned perfectly, seared well and succulent juicy inside. The grits were like cheesy mashed potatoes! Could barely finish the dish. The guys enjoyed a pitcher of Pabst for $ 5 while John asked us girls if we ever had an upside down turtle shot. A what? Ive had my fair share of crazy shots but this was new to me. Pickle juice, vodka and a shot of hot sauce. Wowzah! Yes please and let’s try that again but dip the rim in hot sauce this time! I’m bringing THAT one back with me! When back visiting«kin», we will make sure Gnat’s is one of our stops.

Delicious sammies and even more delicious natural fruit flavored margaritas! Great vibe, relaxed and just the right amount of buzz! I had the watermelon margarita and the salmon bacon sammie and found everything to be better than I expected. Delish.

Came here when I was visiting my friend at Ga southern. The place was packed! We waited for about 5 minutes to get seated. Our waitress was very sweet and tried her hardest to make sure we were having a good time even though she was so busy! There was 6 of us and we all split a pitcher! I split the Electric blue pitcher with a friend. Honestly I don’t what it was but I didn’t care because it tasted good! I wasn’t very hungry so I just got French fries, they were probably the best French fries I have ever gotten. Looks like a hot spot for college kids in statesboro! Will definitely come again when I come visit.

This is one of the best college bars I’ve been to and I’ve been to a few of the best. Great tasting food, friendly service & music… loved it.

The quintessential college bar-food joint. Decent beer selection(more craft than domestic), great sammies and finger foods. I’d recommend not springing for any of the higher end choices like the crab legs or other seafood platters — they aren’t as well executed as you’d find at a higher end restaurant.

Favorite restaurant in Statesboro. Close to campus, great service, and definitely the best bang for your buck. I love their Brunswick stew, shrimp & grits, & fried pickles!

Great food & awesome speedy service open space inside and out. Definitely coming back to check out the live band. Jordan G. was a great server for my first time there and helped me with a recommendation for my next visit. Ask for him if you visit.

In town for a CrossFit competition on GSU Game Day… Waited less than ten minutes for a table, waitress was friendly, and our order was ready super fast, especially considering the restaurant and parking lot were packed! My sweet potato fries were a little cold compared to hubby’s fresh seasoned fries, but they were delicious and I was too hungry to complain. Impressed with the food and service. We will stop back by if we’re in the area!

Was in Statesboro for a tour of Georgia Southern with my daughter. Very good. Excellent service and cute décor. Had crab balls for an app. They were really good. My daughter ordered the burger and it was perfectly prepared, hot and tasty! Chicken salad was okay. Very friendly staff. Looks like a fun place for the kids to hang out and have a bite to eat!

Love this place! But then again I am partial to anyplace that has two full days of happy hour! I’m addicted to their wings and shrimp and grits! Can’t beat a pitcher and an evening on the porch with friends at gnats! Great mixture of young and old at the bar and always somebody there to keep things interesting on the people watching side of things! They even have different nights like Trivia and karaōke and even tends to be pretty packed during the summer!

Attempted to dine at Gnats Landing with 5 of my family members. We sat for 18 minutes without anyone coming to take a drink order or to greet us. Others were seated after us and received drinks and ordered meals. We left! Upon leaving NOONE asked if everything was alright or inquired about why we were leaving!

Well, this is billed as «Soul Food,» but the abundance of the staff would only suggest a college pub-grub place. That said, the food really was A-OK and at a decent price for lunch. I just wanted something simple, so I got the BLT on wheat and let me tell you, they put the B in BLT, but the T was wafer thin and really practically provided no taste because it was so thin and small. However, the Bacon was in full force… and that’s really why you get a BLT anyway, right? The tomato situation was probably a one off thing. I got the fried okra as my side and it was hot, crispy, and quite good. All this came with an iced tea for just under $ 8…good deal! My husband got the shrimp and grits, which also included sausage. I tasted it and it was A-OK, nothing spectacular, but serviceable. The shrimp were clearly industrial frozen kind, which was to be expected here, but the sausage helped round out the flavor that the shrimp could never aspire to give. Also, even though it’s a college hang-out, the music and TVs were not crazy blaring. Thank you for that!

I don’t understand the appeal of this place. Perhaps it’s good for drinks and the bar scene, but the food is average and the service is pretty slow. It’s a dive and looks a bit dirty/old. Food is served in those plastic baskets with paper. The baskets look like they haven’t been cleaned in a while. You can frequently see their rubbish area out back when you drive by which makes the place even less appealing. Tried their food twice. First time I ordered shrimp and grits; I had a sandwich the second time. I can make better at home, so I won’t be back. On the upside, beer is cheap and they often have happy hour specials. Maybe I would like it if I were an undergrad.

Seafood lovers beware — I got food poisoning here about a year ago from undercooked shrimp. That aside, I’ve come before and since that incident with no problems whatsoever(I doubt the same cook is still around being that this is a college town and the turnover around here is pretty high). Just don’t be afraid to send something back if your food doesn’t seem quite right. Their drink specials are always on point — and an excellent value. Their fried pickles are particularly noteworthy(and delicious). The vibe inside is dive-y. It caters to a mixed crowd of college students and local adults. The outdoor seating is usually almost exclusively students, however. Its close proximity to the college makes it a great choice for a drink and a meal. Unlike any of the bars at the plaza, this place actually serves delicious food, and is pretty similar to GATA’s but with an admittedly less outstanding view.

Read a few reviews thought it was worth a try. Well I’m not sure I will be back. The selection is good and the décor is alright. We were excited because they have one of our favorite appetizers, fried pickles. They looked good when they arrived, but they had too much batter for the thickness of the chip and they were very salty. The ranch dip that they came with was runny and not very good. My 8 year old loved his grilled cheese, but the rest of the entrees were unremarkable. The saving grace and the reason that I rated them 3 stars is the service was very good. It appears that they run regular happy hour specials and the deals were pretty good. We did not order from the bar.
