SHF Creations is the brainchild of Arch Painter. It’s flowers. Dried and living. They’re beauts. You can find him at farmers markets throughout the DMV. He’s a gracious, welcoming guy who’s always willing to chat with you about the flowers in the arrangements, and how he puts them together. Last weekend he gave us a history of wormwood(a lovely green included in the bouquet we’d picked) according to Shakespeare. I don’t know many florists who are well versed in Shakespearean literature as well as the art of floral arranging. His dried offerings include wreaths and posies that change with the season. They’re simple, understated, and a ridiculously affordable steal. His live offerings are artfully arranged, and look as if they were picked from a backyard garden or from the wild and put into Mason jars for the farm table. Flowers like snap dragons, gerber daisies, mums, and even fragrant herbs compose the simple bouquets. They’re rustic and folksy. For the insanely low price of FIVEBUCKS you can take home an arrangement — including the old-school Mason jar. Bring the jar back to the market the following week, and your next arrangement is only FOURBUCKS! So break out your gingham table cloth and your sweet tea, and make room on the old farm table for an SHF Creation.
