Stopped here on a whim & was totally surprised by this place. Aesop’s has been opened since 1999. A small place(only 2 tables) that’s mostly for carry out orders, Aesop’s serves both lunch and dinner. A husband and wife team run the show — the wife runs the front of the house and her husband(Chef Tom) runs the kitchen. Fundamentally focused on value, Aesop’s specializes in homemade food for affordable prices. I have not tried Aesop’s for dinner, but their $ 5 lunch specials are pretty amazing. $ 5 gets you a sandwich, roasted redskin potatoes, and a drink. The Chicken Siciliano is a flattened chicken breast, breaded, and cooked to perfection. Sandwiched between perfectly grilled bread with mozzarella and house made amoigu. Juicy chicken, melted cheese, garlicky amoigu, and buttery grilled bread — a really great sandwich. Redskin potatoes are herbed and covered in parmesan. Served piping hot. A nice change of pace from fries & tastier than most fries, too. On another visit, I tried the pulled pork sliders. Sweet & spicy. Super tender pork. Good pulled pork — not the best I’ve ever had, but 2 sliders with those redskins and a drink is a steal at $ 5. $ 5 doesn’t go very far these days. At Aesop’s, you can get a perfectly satisfying, homemade meal for $ 5. Nothing wrong with that.
