What I look in a restaurant is #1 Food, food and food. #2 cleanliness. First when we entered the owner asked us what takeout name was straight of the bat. I informed him we didn’t order a takeout but instead came for a take for 2. Well that was weird. But anyway I proceeded to the table for 2. The table looked clean but the seats were still with crumbs leftover from prior customers. I had to push them away. Food took a while to come and I mean 15 min. We ordered vegetarian wrap and biryani. It was very delicious I have to admit. The quantity was adequate for the biryani but the quantity for raita was very less. Owner didn’t ask one time how the food was and in fact I saw him on the phone the whole time. Even another customer asked for some spoons and he kept the phone in his hand. He was not rude but not courteous either. He also didn’t tell us that utensils are self serve and they are located in the back. We figured that by ourselves. I believe the only reason the place is still open is the food but rest is less then ordinary. I would give it a 2⁄5 only and will recommend it for delivery or takeout only.

The only dish we didn’t like was the biryani, which was stale and very little meat. Chicken 65, Kathi roll and idli were awesome. It’s also one of the cheapest indian restaurant I have been in Michigan.

Exellent biryani. If thats what you want. Its well worth the 50 miles drive. Wish they opened one in the Canton/Belleville/Ann Arbor area. Set in a strip mall, on the south east side of Maple and Dequindre roads in Troy, with own private off street parking. Although the parking lot could use some more lamp posts, too dark.

I have mixed feelings about this place. We had been going for more than a year and used to love it, but some things have changed. It’ll probably be awhile before returning. note: Friday nights are generally busy. pros –less expensive than most Indian restaurants –consistent flavoring –samosas cons –seems to be made mainly from a spice packet(you get what you pay for) –inconsistent service(once they didn’t even make an order we placed on the phone) –inconsistent quality/amount of chicken in the briyani –butter chicken seems overpriced for what it is

I asked for the food to be very mild no spice what so ever. But tried it and everything was spicy. My husband can’t tolerate spicy food so he didn’t enjoy it. I can but because I’m pregnant I can’t now. Wish it was mild the food did taste good and fresh. But not sure why they didn’t do what I asked for.

Good indian style food, great value. Everything is plastic and it’s a $ 15 minimum for credit card. The byrani was very good.

This place is the real deal. Expect authentic Indian food with spices you don’t normally get from buffet’s. The prices are super affordable and they have a decent lunch deal. Food is served on plastic ware and service is a little slow if you in eat but the quality for the price makes it an authentic experience few Americans experience. My favorite Indian food place in Metro Detroit!

Yes! One star. Well, I would give them less than a star if the app allowed it. Pros: None observed so far in the one visit there. Cons: A service that makes a snail’s pace like lightning fast. Inattentive staff. Lack of communication between the staff. And $ 15 minimum charge on cards. Really?! That’s illegal especially when presenting a debit card. By the way my total came up to be $ 14.86 and the waiter asked me to tack on something to make it to atleast $ 15. I can probably get by with all the above if the biryani was at least decently good. Who puts kasoori methi in Hyderabadi biryani. And chicken 65 was blatantly bland and dry. The biryani also had a foul spice smell which just made me throw the food away in an instant. I will never visit the restaurant again! And neither will I let my friends and/or family for there either.

The place is just fine but they serve food in plastic and it is very bad to get hot food in plastic plates in a restaurant. The foods taste is just fine. Cost is pretty much less.

It’s Friday and our family movie night & dinner day. My wife wanted to cook some good ol’ Manglorian vegetable curry, but I was in the mood for some biryani. So, considering the limited options for good Indian food in the area, I decided to call Biryani Xpress and order some biryani for take-out. Being the foodie that I am, I couldnt just order Biryani, could I? So I called the number and ordered a chicken biryani, a spicy goat biryani, a gongura mutton/goat curry, Chicken 65 and a Chilly chicken. The food was ready in 40 mins and the checkout process was painless. Biryani Xpress has just reorganized the seating arrangement and extended the kitchen area. Nevertheless, I picked the food and 2 mango lassis and headed back home, eager to continue the movie that I had paused. The chicken 65 was average, some of it over-fried. The chilly chicken was pretty good. The chicken biryani was average at best, but the goat biryani was absolutely pathetic — the meat was rubbery and tasteless. Havent tried the gongura mutton yet. Overall, I was a little disappointed. I had previously had a good experience at Biryani Xpress. I wouldnt write them off yet. Not until we have a better option here in the Troy/Sterling Heights area

I went with my wife to this place at night time. This place is self serve, so you don’t get water or plate. You have to go to the counter and order your food. Another thing I didn’t like was to pay minimum of $ 15 to use credit card. You have to have cash of you are under $ 15. They don’t have everything that’s listed on the menu. I wanted baby corn Manchurian which they don’t have. We ordered veg biryani, samosa and gobi manchurian. The Samosa is just $ 2 and waste of money. The stuffing in samosa was little salty and more with turmeric. I would not recommend easing $ 2. My veg biryani was alright. For manchurian the pieces were too big. I would not go for dine in again. I still have to try lunch special.

Being a great food lover, i have almost tasted all Indian restaurants around 25 mile radius from troy. This review is really not for the restaurant but for the two intelligent chefs who prepare magical recipes CHICKENBIRIYANI ********************* My all time favorite is chicken biriyani(NO1BIRIYANIWITHING25MILERADIUS). Best part is they cook the rice very very soft like a jasmine flower. Close your eyes and feel the softness. KARAIKUDICHICKENSUKKA ********************************* This is a magical recipe and traditional recipe from karaikudi. I have no words to describe the taste or appreciate the chefs for making this. Don’t miss it…:) CHICKEN65 *************** Very tasty recipe, chefs marinated the meat in such a way to make it tastier. Don forget [Ask the chef to fry it SOFT(while cooking), in that way it will be more testier and juicy CHILICHICKEN ****************** Excellent recipe, Magic is the chilly chicken sauce prepared by chef Best part is, these guys are preparing the foods with health consciousness and care. Keep Rocking, Biriyani Express !!!

I first came in here a little over a year ago, I think shortly after they had opened. I ordered the chicken biryani and recall thinking it was the best biryani I have ever eaten. Ample spicing and deliciously seasoned pieces of bone-in chicken. I love Indian food but Biryani is not one of my favorite dishes. However this stuff was good enough that I would eat it all the time. The only thing that prevented me from going back was that the place just seemed a little weird and disorganized. There were only like 4 options to choose from on the menu and nobody seemed to be able to explain what they were, how to order, how to pay, how their system worked, or anything of the sort. So as good as the biryani was, I haven’t been back just due to the expected confusion. I went back in on a whim today and many or the organizational elements seem to have been solved in the past year. They have an actual seating area with tables now and a full menu to choose from. Just tell the person at the cash register what you want to order, whether it’s for dine-in or carry-out, and pay them later on your way out the door. The plastic cutlery and napkins and cups and such are on a table in the back corner, just help yourself if you need any of them(the staff will not bring them to you). Today I ordered the Veg Curry lunch special, for $ 5.99. It was a steal for that price! Tons of food. Biryani, Samosa, Dal, Curd Rice, Bread, Desert, and a Lassi. I tried to order the Avakyya-style Biryani(complemented w/a sort of Indian pickle) however for whatever reason they weren’t able to make it today. But the Veg Biryani was once again the best Veg Biryani I had ever eaten(just like their Chicken Biryani is the best I’ve had). The rest of the food was between good and quite good. Nothing mindblowing but definitely some well-done home-cooked authentic Indian cuisine with lots of flavor/spice. Definitely worth giving this place a shot if you like Biryani, or even if you’re not a fan but just like Indian food in general.

Just a single word is enough to describe this place ‘Amazing’. I been to this place yesterday night and when I opened the door I can imagine how good the food is the aroma of the Indian spices made me mouthwatering. When I saw their promotion stating as a biryani under 6 $ I thought they would have compromise either in the Quality or Quantity. It’s the otherway what I experienced their. Nice quantity which can easily fill hunger and with best quality rice and chicken. The best thing in this restaurant is their rosemilk I had that as a compliment and no words to describe how good it is. I actually want to try everything in the restaurant so that whether they can maintain same consistency around the menu or else it’s just a one trick pony. The overall experience in this restaurant is fantastic Will I again Visit: Yes Value of money: 200% Staff: very polite Dish you have to try: Chicken biryani

Finally! Decent Biryani! This is the best that I’ve had in the greater Detroit area. Almost on part with what I would get in Chicago. Be best part… it’s sooooper cheap! I ordered a Chicken Biryani. They offer regular or «special» chicken, which means boneless breast meat. Pffft! Biryani is best with leg meat end of discussion! So that’s what I got. M’lady ordered Tikka Masala and we shared a samosa and the über delicious yellow dal tadka. It’s a good place for takeout. This will be apparent when you get there. But the chefs and staff were all very nice, and the food was great. Order a good half hour to 40 minutes before you arrive. They get busy.

Best veg biryani I have had so far in Michigan. Very fresh and flavorful with a perfect combination of spices. Must try! The service is pretty good except when they get crowded and there is only one guy managing it. Note: Bring cash since they require a minimum payment of $ 15 for card swipes. Also, their thaali is pretty good which is only available in the afternoon during lunch hours. Note to owners: it would be great if you make other sides available after lunch hours such as dal tadka, makhani, etc.
