I’ve never been a fan of Office Max since their prices are much higher than Office Depot but ever since I moved to this side of town the only Office Depot near me is almost 18 miles round trip.
Unfortunately I needed some clear hanging file tabs so I sucked it up and went to Office Max because they were closer. After no employees greeted me or offered assistance I finally found the hanging file tabs and they were out of clear ones, they only had bright blue or yellow and since I’m a nerd when it comes to office supplies this simply would not do.
My next move was to go to Office Depot but before I could leave empty handed I was stopped by an employee who finally asked if I needed help finding anything. This is the third time this has happened to me at this location, either they don’t have what I want or it’s so over priced I get it elsewhere, but they only ask about what I need when they see I’m not buying anything. i find this hightly irritating because even if they can get what I need, I need it TODAY, not whenever their next shipment comes in.
This was my third, and last, trip to this location. Possibly any Office Max if I can help it.
I ended up making the almost 18 mile round trip to Office Depot where they had what I needed and asked me before I found it if I needed assistance. Not after the fact.

Absolutely amazing service. The manager, John, was outstanding. We bought two office chairs thinking we could only fit two in our vehicle. We went back in to see about a third and they wheeled it out to our vehicle, like the first two, helped us unbox it to fit in the car. All around service was absolutely exceptional — and rare for a big box store. Very satisfied.
