Tire change, over charged, did it incorrectly.
Products, staff not knowledgeable, and then argue about their stupidity to the point where they cause a scene.. . On more than one occasion i have witnessed.
Customer service is what really gives this place 1 star.
If u know what u want, where to find it, and can get in and out without managing to talk to anybody during the process, then this may be the place for you.

This location is horrible the mechanics have no idea what there doing. My brother went up there today to get back brakes and the gave him two for the same side and they argued with him about it over the phone so he went up there to talk to someone else and they still argued about it. Thank God the manager was smart enough and fixed it. Place sucks so horribly they need to bring people in who knows what there doing.

It took three visits to this location for them to get the job done right. A flat on Saturday night left me no option but to choose this location to purchase tires on a Sunday morning, as it was the only tire shop open on Sundays. Despite all the bad reviews, I was desperate to get the job done before Monday. How wrong could a simple tire change get? A week later, my tire pressure indicator kept going off no matter how often I pumped air into it. Finally… it went flat three weeks later. I brought it back, three ridiculous hours later, the tech couldn’t find any holes, so they reseal the tire. The morning after… the tire goes flat again. I bring it back and the tech goes. .“I’ll give it a thorough test this time around.” …wait, why didn’t you test it thoroughly the first time?! Long story short, they discovered it was an old valve stem that needed replacement. «We replaced it at no charge to you.» I’m supposed to feel grateful? … you were supposed to change the valve stem with every new tire anyway! Basic elementary service. Get it done the right time. instead of wasting five hours of my time and two unnecessary visits to the shop.
Some good points. The service clerk (Blaze) was more than hospitable although crammed with work. He made the experience a little lighter despite my irritability. And two, I consider myself a spare tire change expert now. Having never changed one in my life, and having had to do so three times in a month period. So thank you, Pepboys, for at least that.

Made an appointment for an oil change. I received a coupon for a $ 20 oil change when I made the appointment, which seemed like a good deal. But the low price was not worth the hour and a half I waited for what should take about 20 minutes. I wouldn’t not recommend going here if you have plans to do anything else with your day.

One guy working the service desk. People in line. 5 employees standing around talking and refused to help.

So late Saturday evening I learn that I have a nail in my tire. I have somewhere I need to be first thing Monday morning. Great, right!~
Belle Tire and Discount Tire are NOT open on Sundays — so I went to Goodyear. The man there tells me that the nail is in an area that can not be patched, that I need to replace the tire– and OH, they don’t have my tire in stock.
After stopping at two other stores that did not have my tire in stock — I stumbled across Pep Boys. They had my kind of tire and would be able to look at my car within 20 minutes or so. I’m in the waiting room, having already signed off on a $ 170 estimate — when the tech comes out and tells me he is not going to put a new tire on my car, he is going to plug it — $ 20 or something like that.
SO — Pep Boys is open for service on Sundays. They carry stock that others do not. They do not rip you off even if it would be easy to. They give you a loyalty card that covers future tire repairs and gives discounts on other things. What is there not to like about this place???

I got a call from the area director who was really concerned about my experience. He refunded my oil change and gave me a free one so that I may give them another chance at one of their other stores. While I was not looking for anything free I appreciated his efforts and I will go to this other store. I will update this Unilocal with my experience once I do that.
Re: Laurel L. I called customer service first already. All I got from them is they were going to alert the manager and have him call me. Even though I told them I already spoke to the manager and was not happy with their response. The manager did call me and offered up some more excuses. It took them an hour to change my oil and rotate my tires and inspect my brakes. My car sat in the lot for 30 minutes. They took a car in before mine from someone who came in after me.

They were done changing my tire before I could make a scrabble move. If possible, I would give the Pep Boys of Sterling Heights six stars, maybe a flag.

Had some terrible service from Pep Boys Sterling Heights Michigan location today. I choose them because I thought I would get proffesional service from a national company, but I was very mistaken. I should have read the internet first and used better judgment this morning when I dropped my Jeep off. I had a list of items and the first was new tires. When I told them what I wanted I was pointed to the store brand and told «we sell a lot of those». When I said I was not interested in those and would like to look at something else I was told. «That is our number one seller, we sell a lot of them» I stated again I did not like those ones and would like to look at another brand like Good Year. I was told the same thing again. After a lot of trouble the desk person finally told me they would ask around and call me before noon with a different tire. I never got a call about my tires today. I have been getting the run around all day, promised my car before noon, then told they needed a special tool to fix Jeeps and no one in the service department had one, so they were going to call the Jeep dealer down the street to try to borrow a tool. Found out later from the service manager that was not the case. Kept getting the feeling they did not want to or know how to fix my Jeep not sure which one it was. Never got a call after 2:00 and Had to call me self after 5PM when I did not hear anything to find out they have my car apart and the mechanic left so I am stuck at work with no ride home. Both the guy at the service desk and service manager were giving me lots of double talk and just being rude. They should have talked to each other before talking to me so they would have at least given me the same story. I little sincerity and honesty would go a long way. I was told several different conflicting things from both of them, which makes me feel like I was being lied to by one of them if not both and just given the run around.

The service department is amazing! They are not only in the business of cars but also customer service. After many years of disappointing mechanics and absurd repair bills, I went to Pep Boys to take advantage of their Tire Sale. I will never take my car anywhere else again. They go above and beyond to get my car fixed at a good price!
