First the good. They had a movie showing when other theaters in the area or not showing it anymore. They didn’t have a million previews before the movie started. Ticketing was fine. There was not a long line. Plenty of help. Concessions lines were short. Staff was extremely friendly.
The not so good. This isn’t really something they can correct without a complete bulldozing and remodeling. And it may not be completely fair to compare an older movie theater to the newer ones around Leesburg, Brambleton, and Ashburn. But the Regal cinemas is showing its age. It’s starting to get that old popcorn and spilt soda smell everywhere. The hallways are dark and the ceilings are low. Time for a remodel. All in all though we are happy that our movie was showing. The staff was friendly and I was very pleased to see that they had armed security. We will not hesitate to return again if the movie we are looking for is showing when we cannot find it elsewhere.

Been a customer since Regal Countryside opened. Sadly, in the last two years I’ve watched movies there, the sound was up so loud that I had to use ear plugs to understand some of the dialogue in the feature! The previews are so loud it is actually painful – the decibel rating in these smaller theaters doesn’t need to be blasting. Last time I attended with friends, we guestimated it was at least 120 dB (our group included a former, respected Broadway sound technician). While our movie choices are for more «mature» audiences, increasing the sound levels does not improve the audio reception or viewing experience. Too bad, because this theater tends to have a very good selection of movies.

If you want an actual movie going experience, this definitely is not the place. They leave the lights on during the whole film. Upon inquiring about the situation, this is due to their alcohol policy so people don’t ´abuse the alcohol policy ´. Meaning they serve alcohol, but think that it is more important than having a good movie-​going experience. Just note before buying a ticket…

They leave the lights on during the movie! That is insane. We thought they would turn off after previews but didn’t happen. I left the theater to ask an usher if that was a mistake. I was told they had to because they serve alcohol. Well I go to the movies to watch a movie not chug beer. Anyway we left but did get our money back. Needless to say we will never be going back.
It’s an old theater anyway with much better options nearby with better screens and sound. Only reason we went was because it was only theater playing Spectre still.

You couldn’t think up an idea this stupid! Regal now leaves overhead lights on during the movie, and they are so bright in the upper seating area that they are annoying even when the movie is NOT playing. Assuming a technical problem, I left the theater to get somebody to fix it and was told they were required to leave lights on because they now have alcohol on premises and may have to check IDs. WHAT??? Are you kidding? Ruin an expensive theater movie for everybody so you can make a buck or two on a few beers? Ever heard of a «flashlight»? Ever been to Alamo Drafthouse? My suggestion is for everyone to stay away from this place until they learn a bit more about running a business. P. S. Regal: It’s about the MOVIE!

I don’t know what it is but the movie times seem to always be more convenient for me anyways… they’re like «in between’ and not too early or too late. It’s also not crazy crowded. Popcorn is always fresh too!

They checked my girlfriends purse for outside snacks, which she definitely had. After being asked to remove the snacks, I feigned a trip back to the car, put the aforementioned snacks in my pockets and enjoyed them throughout our film. I don’t even like candy

If I could give it a thumbs down, I would. They say they have to check purses and I mean small clutch like purses, found gum pack in mine and said I couldn’t take in gum since that is outside food, I love regal at kingstowne but country side regal SUCKS

I feel like I need to update my review as this place as started to go downhill over the past few months. Ever since the new Regals theater opened at Dulles mall across the road, the quality here has really declined.
The two theaters now split the releases between each other and the newer/​nicer theater at Dulles gets the bigger and more popular releases while Countryside gets the ones that aren’t going to be as popular/​smaller releases. For example, a few weeks ago Dulles got Cinderella opening weekend while Countryside got Run All Night. Since the theater at Dulles doesn’t have as many screens and theaters don’t hold as many seats, they normally move films over to Countryside 3 – 4 weeks after they are released. The films they play now are a mix of New Releases that aren’t blockbusters/​Indie/​Bollywood/​and second-​run movies. Now I actually don’t mind this as it beats driving half-​an-​hour to an art-​house theater to catch an indie flick and it’s nice to have a theater that you can catch a film at a month after it’s release when many theaters might have dropped it already.
The problem with the place has to do with the downgrade in service/​quality over the past few months. I honestly believe that within the next year they are going to close this theater down. I’ve been here twice over the past couple months for late-​night showings on Saturday and both times the theater has been almost a ghost town with the showings I was out being less than half full. I know it was late, but before Dulles the place would still be relativity busy. The theaters both times were also dirty and cluttered with trash and food all over the place to the point some seats were you couldn’t even sit in some. Now, if it had been a weeknight it might have been understandable, but there’s no excuse for that on a Saturday night for a movie they just started showing that weekend. The staff also really doesn’t seem to care at all about the place either. One thing that really annoyed me was that during the trailers for our movie (which started at 10:15), I went to wait in line to get some concessions. There were a few other 3 other people ahead of me for the 1 line that was open and I had to wait about 5 minutes. After finally getting to the register, the person working told me she was closing the stand because it was 10:30. Are you kidding me! It’s bad enough they close their concessions that early when the film hasn’t even started yet, but it felt like a real slap in the face when I was the last person in line and she couldn’t have waited just a minute to get me an ICE-​E and then close up. Absolutely ridiculous.
On a side note, the quality of the projectors here aren’t as good compared to other theaters. The picture quality on them looks like a lot more dim/​washed out compared to others in the area.
This used to be one of the best theaters in the area, but with a mix of newer/​nicer theaters in the area (such as Dulles and the Alamo Drafthouse), poor service, unclean theaters, and not as appealing movies, I can’t see this place still being open in the next year. From now on, I’ll only make a trip to see a film here if I really have to.

This isn’t my usual cinema, but I came here because it has a surprisingly good selection of independent films, including some that weren’t being played anywhere else.
The theater I viewed in was smaller than average, but I don’t mind for smaller releases. The sound system wasn’t fantastic, but again, it wasn’t relevant for what I was watching. My biggest complaint is that the seats were small. I’m 6’3″, so I’m taller than average, and it wasn’t comfortable. After two hours, I was ready to leave.
I would return here, but it would only be if I couldn’t find the film in another place. Still, I admire a cinema location that decides to screen smaller releases.

This is your typical movie theater. The wife and I went there on a workday and the theater was pretty empty. The overall cleanliness of the theater was good. The seats are not as plush as I’d like them to; but I thin that’s pretty typical for any regal movie theater.

I’ve been coming here for years and they really need to upgrade but there’s a new Regal opening at Dulles Town Center so I guess that will be there upgrade, until then I will continue to come here mainly because of the location and the crown club program, you get points for dollars spent and get a free popcorn, soda or movie ticket for tallied points which is pretty cool
But for upgrades they need better food, and definitely reclining seats, the only good thing that I can say about this theater right now is its really close to my house

Came here to watch the new transformers! Friendly staff. Clean. Your typical cinema. Nothing that gives that ahhh factor. Would really like to see some rocking or atleast a bit of a recline on the seats.

It’s not one of our top theaters to go too, it’s the closest for a last minute decision on going out to watch a movie. Movie theaters have become over priced, I won’t mind an older theater if the seats are comfortable and don’t smell like body odor or the seat is too reclined because it’s broken. So far, this theater has been good to us.

Okay, this isn’t enough for me to bump it down a star (even though part of me feels like I should out of the principle of the thing), but I thought I would share this experience.
The wife and I watched the second Hobbit movie here a few weeks ago. Decent movie and all. But the sound was all messed up for like the entire movie! First it was a bit too quiet, so my wife went out and told them. Nothing changed for a bit and then all of a sudden it got waaaaayyyyy quiet! So, then I went and told them, and other people started telling them too (like five of us). We waited a few minutes and then it finnnaaaallly got loud but then it was slightly too loud. At that point I think everyone was just happy to be able to hear it and we were afraid if we asked for quieter that it’d be waaayyy quiet again.
So.
It’s a movie theater run by 19-​year-​olds like every other movie theater, so… it is what it is. I’ll still watch movies there.

Can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this theater. Been going here pretty regularly since 2006. There’s absolutely nothing special about it. It’s an old theater with smaller screens, decent seats, overpriced concessions and that in-​between clean and dirty feeling that most older theaters have. But it’s walking distance from my house, so despite the fact that I have other area theaters I prefer: Alamo Drafthouse, Angelika, Cinemas Arts, etc., this one has gotten more of my business since I moved to CountrySide last year.
Have never had any major issues with this theater, it’s just your usual meh, and you want to go early on a weekend or mid-​day on a weekday to avoid the crowds, kids and foreigners.
The one thing that bothers me here is they have the kiosks outside where you can buy your tickets to avoid the ticket line, but in the last year, every time I try them, they are ALWAYS out of order and say the printer functionality is broken. I’m pretty sure they just don’t turn them on and have no idea why they have them. Really annoying.

A regular Joe Schmo movie theater with cold popcorn and overpriced drinks. The floor is normally sticky, chairs are never comfy and it is run by teenagers. But I can watch my 12 dollar movie on a big screen.
Honestly, I’d rather get a redbox, order some pizza and watch it in my PJ’s.

This theater is older and not as nice as the other ones in the metro area. They are building one in the Dulles town center and wondering how that effect this location
Also I really don’t understand the parking here as you can’t park directly in front of the theater. It’s ok after your movie ends since they have multiple exits when you leave but only there is one main entrance that requires some walking from your parking spot
Be aware there are plenty of yummy places to eat near by before the movie so don’t waste your money on over priced food here

Overall, not a bad place to check out a movie. We went to a matinée so it was pretty empty when we went. The theatre was clean and service was great. $ 9.50 for an adult and $ 9.00 for a child during the matinée. The only issue there was the flickering lights in the theatre. The overhead lights would flicker during the preview and during the movie the aisle lights would flicker. It was a little distracting while trying to pay attention to the movie. Hopefully, they get that fixed soon!
