Meh– at best. Two and a half stars would have been more appropriate. I do love the fact there’s a place in town that’s easy-in/easy out for gas. Plenty pumps with lots of space, but that’s about where it ends. They’ve got a decent selection of the usual convenience store junk. Their coffee is pretty bad– it lacks flavor except for the bitter aftertaste. All their sandwiches, especially their breakfast sandwiches taste the same and are really stingy with ingredients. The ones under the heat lamp are particularly bad. The bacon and egg, as it were, is robbery. As little as one tiny, soggy half a strip. The sausage patties are about the size of silver dollars. The croissants and English muffins are almost always flat and heated to the point where all the moisture is gone. You could almost break a tooth on them at times. If you go for fresh, expect to wait. The deli is very slow. There seems to be an awful lot of chit chat behind the deli counter and a disconnect with the customers waiting for their food. The automated ordering system probably exacerbates the problem. They’re not making a meal for a face, they’re making it for a printed ticket. I don’t expect five star dining here– I’m comparing them to other convenience stores. They make Wawa and Royal Farms, who use the same system, look gourmet. I realize this is a little obscure, but Rutter’s also lacks a signature product. You look for a Royal Farms for that chicken. 7 – 11 has the Slurpee. Wawa has those big pretzels and clean bathrooms. I think Rutter’s banks on their milk but there’s nothing special about it. They’ve got that self-serve milkshake machine but no one ever seems to actually use it. They have nothing you would stop there for specifically. I’d sooner stop at a random gas station and be surprised. It hardly qualifies as a «convenience store» when you wait 10 minutes in line to be overcharged for something. I can get in and out of most grocery stores faster than this and pay half the price. Though there are two registers, half the time one is closed or the attendant is off doing something else– even when the line is 10 people long. The line often snakes all the way back into the aisles. I’m very happy the new Royal Farms is now open. I’m more than happy to drive the extra four miles or so for good service and much higher quality fresh items.

Horrible company, they change the prices daily, take advantage of the monopoly they have and clearly have no regard for the community. The rutters only 5 miles away is typically 20 cents a gallon cheaper. I will go far out of my way to not give them business.

This Rutters is clean and well organized with numerous gas pumps. The store contains a nice eating area to go with the deli. My criticism with this location is the speed of the made to order deli process. The employees constantly talk to one another and tend to not care about making the food. It’s not unusual for a sub to take over 8 minutes and forget about ordering a side, this can tack on another 5+ minutes. Unfortunetly, there are not too many alternative locations near by.
