This is a place for girlfriends to hangout and drink margaritas and eat cheese dip. A little more inventive than Acapulcos but not much. Their food is just okay and overpriced. That being said the staff was friendly, building was clean and the Southwest Stroganoff of filling and pretty decent. The meat from my friends burrito was so bland it might have passed for roast beef at perkins.

This is one of my favorite spots in Stillwater. Killer margaritas, great nachos, and a good vibe. It’s a little cramped inside(reason for the 4 stars), but it’s definitely worth the visit. The salsa is freshly made and they will add some extra heat for you upon request. Everything else I’ve had has been very good… You should go. No seriously, stop looking at reviews and just go to Nacho Mama’s…

The food was AMAZING!!! The smothered burrito with shredded beef will change your life!!! This is hands down the best Mexican in Minnesota and possibly anywhere. I’m from Texas and have had my fill of amazing Mexican restaurants and I didn’t know any existed here! The service was quick and the food was hot and delicious! The place is small and tight but the food was well worth it and they got our drinks and food out quick.

Worst service. Waited 15 min w no one checking in. Not even busy … Looks like you don’t want business. Off to a better restaurant.

Went here with my boyfriend from a recommendation by a native Stillwaterian(?!). Holy moly, the portions are huuuuge! I got the baked enchilada, and Mexican corn(of course) while the BF got a smothered burrito and we finished probably 1⁄3 of our meals. Decent prices, cool décor, we sat on the patio which was a little stuffy. But we’ll be back!

We had dinner for two on 9÷5÷2015. Shared stuffed jalapeños and enchilada stack, with margaritas. All were delicious, and one app plus one entrée was more than enough for two. We will be back.

This is a really nice place and it will always hold a special place in my heart. I went here on a first date and it was pretty perfect. We sat outside on the deck and the atmosphere there is really nice. I had the chimichanga, which was passable, and my gorgeous companion had the tacos. Although I had never seen anyone eat tacos with a fork, she seemed to really enjoy them so who am I to judge. I will come back here next time I am in the area because I am a sentimental fool and I will always feel happy when I think about Nacho Mama’s. Hopefully, she will be with me.

Scoot down the alley, off the main Stillwater street and eat at Nacho Mama’s! Really great food and drinks, at reasonable prices. My whole family loves this place.

Great food. The seating isn’t very comfortable and indoor seating is packed tight. They also have a patio. Good place if you want a lite bite with fun atmosphere and good variety of Mexican food with an artsy flare.

This was a hard one to rate. I’ll put it bluntly, it’s far too spicy for me and my husband. I saw the great Unilocal reviews mentioning that this place exceled at tex-mex style food, so I wanted to stop by when in Stillwater. We started with the guac, which was very tasty though it was served with some kind of thick baked pita squares instead of chips(not my favorite). I ordered a smothered burrito(chicken) and my husband ordered the chimichanga(steak). Neither one warned us of extreme spice. Needless to say, they were both incredibly spicy. For a guy with Crohn’s and a pregnant woman, this was the last thing we needed. Our acid reflux was off the charts and we were both in agreement that you couldn’t even enjoy the food due to have insanely hot they were. All you could taste was burning. Our service was pretty good, so I won’t fault them there. It’s a small place and if you’re a fan of spicy food, go for it. Bill cost for 2 entrees, waters(tap) and guac was $ 35.

Good food. A bit spicy for me. Enough different food to be interesting – fried avocado & sweet potatoes(not loaded with cinnamon & brown sugar). Still can’t figure out what was on the unique, delicious corn! Corn would bring me back. Huge burrito I split with my sister. and could have shared with another person. It must have had at least 2 chicken breasts in it! It is a small place, with tables too close together. Maybe not enough room for more, needed wait staff. Recommend.

Got the Loco Lucy and BBQ pulled pork burrito and carafe of margaritas. Excellent food, decent price, good music and ambience. Never had the original Juicy Lucy from which the Loco Lucy is derived, but I know my way around a burger. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for. Great food, but not life changing(which is what earns a 5-star from me).

I didn’t know what to expect coming here for the first time after living in Stillwater for years, but I have to say that I was thoroughly impressed! Admittedly, everything on the menu seemed somewhat overpriced, but the food was simply delicious! If you like a little spice, try the enchilada casserole. Even split between two people, I had more than enough for leftovers. Can’t wait to go back!

5 of us m-cycled to Stillwater, MN for lunch at Nacho Mama’s. We’ve heard a lot about it over the years but have never stopped in. We’re glad we finally did! The day was nice enough for patio seating and we were pleased to get a table. Our server was top notch and made excellent recommendations! We started with an order of nachos for the table which proved to be among the best a couple of us have ever had. Nicely spiced beef, lot’s of real cheese — and not some rubbery nacho cheese of indefinite providence — and assorted condiments including chilies, guac, sour cream… We saw a chimichanga the sized of a meat loaf being wheeled to another table and Laurie and I decided oh yah, gotta have that to share! Our server suggested we get it half shredded beef and half chicken — YUM! The red sauce and accompanying rice and beans were fabulous! The other couple followed suit and ordered a chimi and another ordered the Cabo Wabo salad featuring jalapeño bacon. The salad was not only prodigious but damn tasty! Oh yah, for sure we’ll be back!

If you are looking for a place to bring a larger group, this is not for you. With that being said, this very small restaurant is adorable! If you plan to eat here come with an empty stomach, the serving sizes are huge and the food is amazing!

Nacho Mamas is my Mama’s favorite place. Yep, my mom is obsessed with this restaurant. She lives in Stillwater & my parents are regulars. I joined them for lunch & they enjoyed introducing me to our server(Emily) & joking with her about her late shenanigans the night before. It kind of impressed me, because my parents were all of a sudden cooler than me. I really liked this place. It’s a small space… but it’s décor is endearing, bright and colorful. A little stereotypical Mexicana? Yah, but it FEELS good in here. For lunch, we shared the Jalapeño & Bacon Poppers — the raspberry dipping sauce they come with amps up the flavor with a sweet twist. I highly recommend trying them. Because my parents practically had a ‘Cheers’ grip on this joint, they answered my entrée questions in full detail. I decided on the Crispy Enchilada Stack. Good grief, I barely put a dent in this bad boy and took more than half of it home. Service was on point… but with a place this small it would be weird if you didn’t have attentive service. You can see your server at all times. My mama swears they have the best drinks in the city. She ordered a frothy, salt rimmed margarita. Being pregnant, the sheer sight of her drink made me look at my tummy and say ‘You better be cute’. Overall: cute atmosphere, great service and because you probably should split your entrée with a friend, the price is right. Definitely a great stop in downtown Stillwater.

Ahhhh… I need my fix of Nacho Mama’s and I guess reliving my memories through a review will have to do… for now. 70 degrees. Patio seating. Margarita. Nacho Mama’s. One of the only things better is being back on the beach in Mexico. Scratch that. Ya can’t beat this place. Knowing the portions will be big, I still stuff my face with an appetizer for 5. The bacon wrapped, cream cheese stuffed jalapenos are awesome, and pretty spicy. What better to cool the palate with than a signature Nacho Mama cocktail. Close my eyes, take a sip, and I’m back on that beach bronzing in no time. I always try to get the Nacho Mama Nachos appetizer(serves 6-make a circle shape with your arms and that’s how big…) but I can always trust my man to help me remember that I’ll get through half a plate and keel over dead before I touch my entrée. I’ll wait til we have a couple more people with us next time. Only entrees I’ve tried are the El Cabo Wabo Sandwich, Sexy Chicken Quesadilla, and the Smothered Burrito. El Cabo Wabo was bigger than any sandwich I’ve gotten from Nelson’s Deli(and those things are big). The dipping sauce and battered potatoes that accompany it really slap the bow right on top. Sexy Chicken is crunchy, and cooked to perfection every.single.time. Literally never had a quesadilla like it in my life. Don’t think anything can top it. Every other place I’ve had one I’ve looked down at my empty plate after I’ve finished… wishing there was something more to eat. Never happened at Nacho Mama’s. Smothered Burrito is what the man always gets, and is about the size of my cat. Make no connections other than size please. This place is legit. I always beg him to share cuz it reminds me that there is a time and place for a good burrito. This is it. Service is always good. Always attentive even if it’s busy, but never overbearing. I always have the same server and she reminds you of your best pal. Just… cool. I feel at home every time I’m there and nothing can beat that. Stillwater has always been a precious town, but since I’ve discovered this place it’s worth has escalated tremendously.

Mexican or Tex-Mex food occupies a special place in my world. Nacho Mama’s is a must go to place for me. If you look at my food reviews you’ll notice a few So Cal restaurants I go to when in that area. Well Nacho Mama’s is the one Twin Cities restaurant that helps relieve my longing for the So Cal foods I enjoy. My favorite and most frequent meal here are the Street Tacos with the fish. If these don’t put a smile on your face I would be surprised. I realize that many people don’t understand fish tacos. If you have the cajones, try them.

Met a friend for lunch and we ate outside in the charming little dining area complete with little fountain. Best to arrive early if you desire an outside table. Service was excellent. Our server was warm, fun and helpful. She advised me against ordering a drink that was not the most popular which was nice since I was on the fence to begin with. Food: There were quite a few options that I wanted to try so I will most likely venutre back. My friend ordered the El Cabo Wabo Sanwich which looked good and was said to be good. I was wishing I ordered that, too so I could have scarfed down the jo-jos that came with it. I ordered the Cabo Wabo salad. It was pretty good. Large chunks of chicken, bacon and avocado with a subtle avocado ranch dressing. I can see why this place is always packed. Next time I go, I will try some of the other 5 items I bookmarked. A welcome twist on Mexican food.
