For the life of me, I can’t figure out when they’re open and closed. The food is so good and I hate that I can’t get it all year long. It sits on the water and it’s right next to a boat dock. Small cozy place that is raging w/Caribbean vibes. I’ve been eating here since I was a little one and it remains delicious! I get the Chicken Peleau Dinner. You can order it spicy if you’d like. Add some of the chutney and it’s on!

Food is always great! Some can be on the spicy side, so ask if you can’t handle spicy foods. The owner is really friendly, and he told us he’ll be opening a second restaurant at another location, which is closer to my home and work, which is awesome news! Location can be tricky to find. It’s behind the store(called STORE), which is the only other place really around… besides house boats. I’ve been there about 5 times and the oxtail was never on the menu when I was there. A friend mentioned that I’ve been wanting it, and the owner made me some when it wasn’t on the menu. How nice is that? Definitely worth trying.

Welcoming staff, fun laid-back environment, delicious food. Never had anything there that I didn’t LOVE.

Ps– fuck this place! I got a staph infection from a bug bite I got sitting outside waiting for their food. Never coming back.

Location — great for Stockton, wait for the sunset and music on the weekend. Maintenance of the gazebos could have been better. Put out more lights and get rid of those mosquitoes dammit! Staff — understaffed or just don’t have a system working for them. Wait to be served — not so great, 1 hour to even take down orders? Wait for food — extremely terrible, with 2 – 3 hrs of wait its obvious something isn’t working in the kitchen. Maybe that’s why they hired music service to entertain. Food — overly seasoned with salt and OK at best. Definitely not worth a 2 – 3 hr wait. This place has a lot of potential but with the terrible wait staff system and snail pace kitchen services the whole dining experience just goes down the drain.

There are a few times in life when you find a meal so good you just have to Unilocal a comment. The Breadfruit Tree never let’s me down. So I even posted the pictures to prove my point. And these were take out. Mostly every Saturday I call in take out. Sweetest person takes my order and after church we head on over to pick it up. Order is always ready & perfect. Let me tell you… Our compliments to the chef. Wow! I L O V E his oxtails. The Jamaican way is the only way. I have a friend in Atlanta who gave me her Jamaican style recipe and these are how it’s done. They are so tender and melt in your mouth. The saffron rice is heavenly with the hot sauce and chutney makes everything come together! My hubby likes the spicy chicken peleau. So good… It is the rice with veggies & chicken cooked with spices. Amazing. Portion size is generous. You get what you pay for & more here. And presentation is appealing. We also love the Jerk Chicken! Yummy. And I love how they debone it so nice. The flavor I love… A great kick of spicy heat! Mmmm Scotch bonnet. If you love a spicy full of flavor meal… You have got to try the Jerk Chicken. Even the salad here is amazing!!! Cannot wait until next Sat. LOVE, LOVE everything about this place. The friendly staff & awesome talented Chef & the magic he creates. Thank you

This is one of the coolest places I’ve been too. Inland, yet I felt like I was on a tropical island. If it’s a busy night the service is SLLLLOOOOOWWWW… So come if you aren’t in a rush. So let’s say you aren’t in a rush, have a lot to talk about with your company, and are generally a chill person. Then you will have the time of your life here because the staff is genuinely friendly and the food is absolutely awesome. It inspired me to find Caribbean restaurants closer to where I live. It is that kind of place.

Came out for reggae on the delta. Had a great time! Good food, good company. A little spicy, but good.

Had the jerk chicken, ivans pork & cake dessert. The food was really just OK. Nothing wow’d me. I was disappointed; I was expecting something special. And the cake was even dry. *sigh*

Met our best couple friends here tonight. We all enjoyed our meals thoroughly. We started with their rum punch… much better than plain ol’ punch! We were guests but I really wanted to contribute to the meal so I did some wine pairing research on the Internet. Good thing I did because the usual suspects… chardonnay and merlot… dry wines with lots of tannins tend to elevate the level of heat in spicy foods. BTW, their corkage fee is a mere $ 5.00, a great value. I ordered jerk chicken and it was phenomenal… the spiciest food I’ve eaten to date and I’ve eaten a whole lot of spicy food. Everyone in our party was pleased with their meals as well as the family like friendliness of the wait staff. Overall a wonderful evening and dining experience.

Love the ambiance and peleau is excellent. They have a house chutney that is to die for. And swank tea. Very sweet but delicious and refreshing. Right on the delta, at paradise point. Lovely place to go and experience the gentle Delta breeze.

A hidden gem… What this restaurant lacks in dining area they more than make up in taste. Flavorful, straight to the point food that makes you wanna dance that happy dance. Chef Louie is friendly and passionate about what he puts in front of you, more so than other chefs in Stockton. And, if you talk to him, he just might tell you about his off-the –menu menu. Give it a try and you won’t be disappointed.

I’ve only been here twice, but that’s all I need to affirm my respect for this restaurant. Tucked away at the end of a quiet gravel road on the Delta, this unassuming restaurant has plenty of character & packs a serious culinary punch for anyone looking for a meal off the beaten path. Just visited last week for a dinner date, and enjoyed the chicken Peleau(pronounced puh-lao) with rum cake for dessert. Uh, it was really nothing short of delicious. Huge portion, I left satiated & had plenty to take home leftovers. The salad preceding the meal was a new experience, topped with ranch dressing & some sort of snack cracker mix(so good!) Of course, my man & I had Red Stripes to accompany the Caribbean cuisine. The two men(who I presume are the proprietors) cooked our meal and served us & answered any questions we had. Can’t wait to come back & enjoy both the food & ambience out on the delta again.

This visit took place about a year ago but it’s the main reason I won’t be back. Came to visit with the family, free tables occupied but the inside was busy, music was extremely loud and no way of turning it down. Waited ten minutes, 20 min, 30, no water no food. Was extremely upset and inquired how long they were going to take. No apology just a we are busy. Yet only a few people were eating and they looked to be done. Maybe they were short staffed? 40 min still no service. We left and went to strings and had no issues with service there. Wish the visit could have been better since the location is beautiful.

Took literally 50 minutes to get our food. When I asked the wait staff about it, they said«sorry we’re getting orders as they’re coming in, you’re next don’t worry». The food was good though. And they ended up getting my credit card mixed up with someone else’s, and ended up charging the wrong card. So they charged my card twice and had to nullify one. Also… no menu?! Strange setup.

If I could give 6 stars I would. Started coming to this gem about 2 summers ago and I think my family now goes atleast once a month. The owner/chef Louie has become a friend to our family. The first time we came we realized they didn’t have very many vegetarian options but upon being introduced and greeted by Louie he told us to give him a call ahead of time and he would whip up some veggie dishes for us. After that we have experienced some of the most tastiest vegetarian Caribbean dishes . Yesss the wait for food is long and service can be slow but i can’t stress enough that it’s worth the wait!!! The menu is just a chalkboard where they eliminate items after they run out. Everything is fresh and i can confidently say it’s made with a lot of love and care! I love the environment the most. It’s relaxing and lively all at the same time. If you get the chance to talk to Louie, he is a awesome guy!

Yes please read the managers review. It speaks for itself. What the manager fails to realize is that we are customers who just wanted an apology for the rude customer service and there would have been no issue. Further more, I don’t need other Unilocalers to like my review, but as a manager commenting back, you think it would be more respectful so that other Unilocalers don’t see the disrespectful behavior and still want to come to your restaurant regardless of a bad review. Now it has been proven that the staff is disrespectful.

I wanted to go someplace new for my birthday dinner — my mom was treating, but I had to drive to Stockton. So, I checked Unilocal, and based on the ratings and type of food, I chose to go to the Breadfruit Tree Restaurant. I haven’t had Jamaican/Caribbean food in years. We drove West on 8 Mile Road past the shopping centers that are by I-5 and past the houses until we were in the middle of fields. We were surprised by the location, but it was nice, and we got to see the sunset from the restaurant and on the way home right after we left the restaurant. There were other people on the side of the road watching the sunset, too. The restaurant is located by a small marina on the delta and it’s very small, only about 10 – 15 tables, I think. We went in and read the ‘specials’ on a large whiteboard on a tripod that was facing the front door. We were greeted right away, and luckily there were a couple of tables available. We were seated, but nobody brought us any menus, which we thought was strange. We soon figured out that the whiteboard on the tripod WAS the menu, which was brought over to our table by the waitress. There were about 8 entrees to choose from, one appetizer, two alcoholic drinks, and two desserts to choose from. I had the sangria, which was delicious and strong(be careful). No fruit was in it like Sangrias you get elsewhere. The others got a rum fruit punch drink, which good, as well. We tried the appetizer, and we each got three different dishes. I posted pictures of a couple of them. Everything was excellent. After we were finished eating, I asked if they had any birthday specials as far as the desserts go, and they ended up giving us a free order of the chocolate bread pudding for dessert with a single candle in it that we all shared. No singing, luckily. Both the food and the staff were excellent, so I rated it five stars. Nothing was bad.

So my husband and I are in Stockton to see relatives and his cousin says that he has a place he’s been planning on taking us on our next trip out here(to Stockton). I’ve lived on a semi-Caribbean island(I say semi because it’s a Netherlands Antilles island) named Bonaire and I can say that I’ve had some great food. That being said, here goes: I LOVED this place because of: 1. The view: I’m sure in the daytime the view would be amazing! We went in the evening so we couldn’t see out of onto the docks BUT the interior paint of this restaurant took me back to Bonaire. The walls were painted with beautiful scenery(trees, butterflies, etc). The ambiance was great 2. The service: we met the owner who cooks all of the food and he was just so kind. 3. THEFOOD: it. Was. AMAZING. I eat spicy food and most restaurants don’t even have spicy food when I ask for it. That being said, WOW! The food was SPICY! So this is a warning to all of you… even if you like spicy food… order the meal as is or medium because it is HOT. Other than that warning to all… the flavor in each dish ordered was absolutely delicious. Each had its own unique quality. The shrimp pasta had cranberries in it, which added a bit of tang and slight sweetness that balanced out the spice. I usually don’t eat goat but the goat with taro leaves was unforgettable. The last dish we ordered was the jerk chicken and that is because of all of the tips in Unilocal. It was spicy(like everything else) and sweet and had hint of smokiness to it that was pleasant on the palate. The only CON I have for this place is: *note: and this may be because it was raining and very hard to see… Just know that this restaurant can be difficult to locate because it is located behind a store. Just look for a store and you will find the restaurant behind it. They just need to get a better light to see the sign to the location. There’s not much more anyone can ask for — great ambiance, service and, most of all, the food! Stop by this place… you won’t regret it!
