I like this place. They have a lot of the things that make for a good wine store. They have affordable stuff you can drink right away, wines that may take a little aging and usually some really really nice bottles that have been laid down for a few decades and are now for sale so you can have a special occasion wine. Everyone I have met who works there are knowledgeable about what is in the store but seem to often have their own preferences about which bottle they might recommend.

Many safe and kids friendly place. Not such a bad place to call home. Got a lot of good schools and good restaurants. Live here all my life. I do wish crime rates drop though.

A fine place to spend a Thursday and learn about many different styles of French wines. If you want to learn about Bordeaux, the epicenter of the wine universe, this is your place to begin. There are a wide variety of wines here to choose from and if you don’t mind spending a few dollars more, the service here is well worth the added expense. Local wines are a bit limited but you will find everything from New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc to Spanish Verdehlo and even traditional Port wine. The tastings tend to be more academic and analytical but the customers take tasting to that next level which is good exposure to anyone with a open mind and an open wallet!

Okay, I’ll be the first one to do this. My husband and I attended the December wine tasting. We had always wondered about this little shop, but had never attended any of their events. We love wine – I like my California wines, but my husband is interested in exploring others, so off we went to their Bordeaux tasting. I was VERY disappointed. First of all, there appeared to be several regulars attending, as evidenced by their very nice, large wineglasses. «Newbies» were given assorted wine glasses of various shapes and sizes(not unlike the collection in my cupboards) presumably collected at various wineries. It was tacky. You pay $ 15 pp to attend, sampling 6 different wines. They have a bar to stand at, and a few chairs to sit on(6 maybe?) while the gentleman goes around the room, pouring wines for everyone. Then said gentlemen tastes his wine and asks for volunteers to critique what they had just tasted. No one volunteers, so he asks several of his regulars to voice their opinions. I guess I expected that everyone would introduce themselves and that the owner would tell us new people a little something about himself and his shop. Nothing. I never even learned his name. This would have been a great opportunity to publicize his business – there were at least a 12 – 14 people there, and I think about half of us had never attended before. The décor is timeworn, and really needs an update. He has a decent selection of wines, but they really need to do a little better job of merchandising. I was really expecting some nice gift ideas, but there is very little in the way of wine related merchandising or even gift baskets. At the end of the very boring, pretentious«tasting», there was a tiny piece of cheese and a few crackers sitting on a counter behind us. It would have been nice to have a cracker or something to cleanse our palates between the wines, but apparently that is discouraged, as a remark was made that food changes the taste of the wine. duh… All in all, I wouldn’t go back, and I really don’t know why anyone else would. I was bored out of my mind, and have to say that I learn more about wines talking to the winemakers at our wineries in Lodi, the foothills, Napa and Sonoma. Save your thirty dollars and go to one of the many wonderful local wineries in our area to buy yourself an nice bottle of wine.

Live! at Lincoln Center. Awkward but somehow the name of this review has morphed into«Stockton”-How is it that these things happen on Unilocal? Oh, well… This event happens every third Friday night in the Summer at Lincoln center from 6−9pm. This Friday Night Live! boasted a wine stroll. $ 15 for a glass(complete w/the Lincoln Ctr branding) and an opportunity to taste at local wineries set up in the different stores throughout the center. What a brilliant marketing scheme Lincoln Center! All the merchants get plenty of foot traffic, free drawings galore for participants, and you get to see folks you haven’t seen in ages! Guaranteed-you will run into someone you know-like it or not! lol If you are not familiar with Valley wineries, here are the many that were represented at the wine stroll last nite! Harmony Wynelands, Barsetti Vineyards, Peirano Estate Vineyards, St. Jorge Winery, Peltier Station, Borra Vineyards, Mokelumne Glen Vineyards, The Dancing Fox Winery, Fiscalini Cheese Co., Papapavlo’s Bistro & Bar, Weibel Family Vineyards & Winery, Sorelle Winery, Dancing Coyote Wines, VanRuiten Family Vineyards, Harney Lane Winery, Bozzano Olive Oil, Barefoot Wine. I’ve learned that we should eat first and then taste; tonight due to hunger, we missed many opportunities to sample the plethora of local wines available at the event. I look forward to more Friday Nights Live at Lincoln Center! In August there will be a benefit car show!
