Inventive bar food, friendly staff. Portions were generous and appropriate for the price point. It had been years since we were in SH for lunch, and were pleasantly surprised by Fred’s upgrade, while keeping its custom charm. Had a relaxing girls’ lunch and drinks!!!

First and every visit are during the stone harbor shiver. Don’t really want to say how good the shiver breakfast is because our group might have to wait a Lil longer, but service, prices and food quality are great! Have to try peak season to see if the awesomeness contonues.

Between their Avalon location and this location, I’m starting to think this one may be better since it’s more organized. The wine selection seems to be the same at both locations. Accompanying this location is Fred’s Tavern. Serving up food and drinks, this place can get pretty lively late in the summer on Sundays during Eagle games. What I said about there Avalon location, I can say about this location as well really… Whenever I need a good wine at a slightly marked up price, I know I can count on Fred’s to come through for me. It is especially handy for the BYOB restaurants in the area. Great, convenient location. I’ll be in next weekend.

Be careful going here if you look young. Just went there with my buddy who’s from Florida(we were roommates in college; we went to school in Georgia) and the bartender flippantly decided my friend’s ID was fake and cracked it in two places. My friend has to get on a plane back to Florida in two days. The onsite detective and the manager both laughed it off, «positive» that it was fake. Long story short, the ID was run and his information came up all the same. Valid. Sure, people make mistakes and forgiveness is a virtue. But the staff over at Fred’s Tavern doesn’t say sorry, even when they potentially messed up a 22-year-old American citizen’s ability to get home.

Was craving a burger and a mixed drink after a long, hard day of sitting in the sand, enjoying the ocean. ;) We decided to try out Fred’s, the famous staple of Stone Harbor. It didn’t disappoint! I got the Fred’s Burger, hubs got the fish sandwich. Both were delightful and very flavorful, and the fries were perfect. My adult beverage of choice was the Champagne Razzy… sweet and STRONG! I would highly recommend Fred’s!

Got put on the wait list and gave my phone number when asked. Told it was a 40 minute wait. 60 minutes go by and check the hostess list to find out my name was crossed off and 4 settings after U.S. Had I not checked we would have never gotten seated. Talked to the manager who apologized. Did nothing for us and blamed it on all on him having a college student as hostess. Been a patron for years but won’t be back. Three in our party ordered Cobb salads and all three came out with no eggs.

Love Fred’s. Food is great, burgers and especially the cheesesteak. Sweet potato fries are awesome :) check it out if you haven’t been there. If you have, you don’t even need to read this because chances are, you already love it.

We’d been here a few times late night for drinks, but never to eat. We finally attempted to give the food a try on a Sunday afternoon and were let down. We sat away from the actual bar at a very nearby high table against the wall. The monotone bald«bartender»(who we’ve noticed in the past is unfriendly to everyone except his regular townies) ignored us. He has this permanent look on his face that reads«yeah uh. what the hell do you want?». We waited. he stared, but never came over. Finally!.. from behind the bar he calls over. «if you want food, you’ll need to come up here to order».the bar was 95% empty, and he still couldn’t bring himself from behind it to greet his only guests? Didn’t even offer a drink to get us started. We took our menus to the hostess, thanked her, and took our money across the street. We may return for a beer, but thats it.

Came here with some friends on an early Saturday night. Sat inside. WHATISTHATHORRIBLESTENCHTHATPERMEATESTHEENTIREINSIDE? It’s slightly sewer’ish with a hint of poop. It’s really awful. Anyway all of us ordered the salad with salmon. Food was good but my only complaint was the shape/size of the plate. Oval small plate with a huge salad is never a good thing. Service was a bit shoddy and place is really loud. I’d probably only go back if I sat outside.

Great place for families with kids as its on the noisy side, small tables and service was slow. Food was good, however we found everything served a bit over done and piping hot!

Not a very good experience at this place. Have been here twice before and had pretty decent service to us. Tonight they were very unorganized and took very long to get our food and we found out our order was not put in… after we finished the appetizer. Not the servers fault just because I believe she was one of the bar backs for the smaller bar but it was just very unorganized. Also had half of a toothpick lodged inside of a burger that we had ordered. Not the best experience. Food was good, service could be better. 1 star before the edit. Edit: managers took charge and took our whole meal off due to mis-haps. Very professional recovery to say the least. 4 stars with the edit.

I have always loved Fred’s, before and after the renovations. I like their food even though there isn’t a big selection on the menu. The problem is that Fred’s doesn’t like us. We are Phillies fans and like to watch the game in our favorite places. Unfortunately Fred’s never has the Phillies on any of their TVs and it’s very hard to get the bartenders and/or staff to change the channels at game time. So, they either do not like the Phillies at all or they really don’t want the Phillies fans in their bar. We’ve given up. When there is a game on, we go somewhere else. I would give them 5 stars if it wasn’t for this.

Fred’s is a solid spot for drinks and food in Stone Harbor. The selection of beer is small but there are a few craft options. The menu covers all the basics: appetizers, salads, sandwiches, etc. My buffalo chicken wrap was delicious and just the right size for lunch. I substituted fries for chips and the fries had a nice coating of seasoning and were served hot and crisp. I ordered a bottled beer and it was served ice cold, just the way I like it. Our server wasn’t overly friendly and I felt like I was putting her out every time I asked for something. But other than that, I wouldn’t be opposed to grabbing a quick bite or knocking back a few cold ones there again.

Fred’s Tavern was solid. We were seated outside on the patio and had a great experience. After skimming through the other Fred reviews, I just had to go wings(yes, again)! They were a little on the crispy side and full of flavor. They definitely receive my endorsement. The one thing that I find a bit perplexing is the fact that they can’t mix their beer inventory with the liquor store. For example, The Dogfish Head Punkin Ale had just been released and is available in the store but not in the restaurant. They really do have to find a way to take advantage of their own situation. I ended up going with the beer that was«formerly» brewed in the glass lined tanks of Latrobe, PA. My family was treated great and Fred’s is kids friendly for lunch and dinner. The boys split the chicken fingers and my wife enjoyed the cobb salad with chicken. I also love the Fred’s Tavern t-shirt. These are plentiful and easily spotted throughout Stone Harbor, NJ. Available in a variety of colors for $ 15, but why are toddler sized shirts the same price as adults?

Ive been to Fred’s twice so far and I must say the food was enjoyable each time. My first visit was a family visit we had my brother and sister and sat inside. The food was hot and flavorful and service was spot on, I even tipped the bus boy a couple bucks because he was a twelve year old with more work ethic then some young adults. There was not more then five seconds that went by where he left dirty dishes at your table. The waiter was attentive and managed her free time well. The prices are very fair according we fed a family of four and my fiancé felt like steak and the bill only came to $ 80. During the second trip me and fiancé dined by ourselves and sat outside, very bad move given it wasn’t busy and the waiter forgot about us so many times! She even took 15mins to get our drink order. Also I ordered a burger medium rare and got ver dry and the always dissapointing well done. So I had to send it back and was upset about that. They fixed it somewhat, was still not bloody enough the cook this day must have been inexpiereneced and still training as my burger the first visit and this visit was night and day. Also I tried a salad was nothing fancy but had flavor and good ginger dressing for an Asian salad. Overall Im willing to try freds again there isn’t much option on the island for reasonably priced food that is actually really tasty like freds, but I will be taking precaution if its not busy and what waiters are working.

Fred’s was just what we needed, a couple of sandwiches and a nice draft beer selection. We went for lunch and sat in the covered porch in the front which was perfect on a beautiful day, however seating inside would have been just a nice. Looks like they recently renovated the interior and exterior. There is a good-size bar area that was quite lively for a pre-season Saturday, with a huge old brick fireplace. We had the grilled chicken sandwich and turkey club — both were good… and our waitress was on point…5 stars in my book. Oh and they also run the liquor store next door which was perfect spot to pick up a bottle for dinner at the BYOB spots in the area.

I’m lactose-intolerant and a vegetarian. The menu options for someone like me were onion rings, fries, or to have them hold the cheese on a strawberry and spinach salad. None of these are likely to hold one over for more than an hour, so I really wish I hadn’t been told by the group I was with that we would be «eating»(as in, DINNER) at Fred’s. I left and brought pitas, hummus, and hard boiled eggs back from WaWas.

I didn’t know this place served food! Stopped by for an early dinner with friends and was quickly seated outside like I requested. Our waitress was super nice and attentive. I DO wish they had some more beers to pick from but I certainly found enough to wet my palate. The boys got burgers and I got the buffalo chicken wrap which was awesome. I will definitely be back.
