Great local grub, family owned. Main disclaimer: currently open on Thursday — Saturday. We have made several visits to Stone Mountain BBQ and enjoy their pork, veggies of the day, and mac n cheese. But the most recent visit, found the brisket to be overly fatty and sliced so thin, it seemed like they were trying to stretch the last bit of meat just in case someone else ordered brisket later. Not much meat for the price on that order. Available for dine-in and pick-up. This is not a place for large groups, as it only has a handful of booths. EDIT December 2015: This BBQ joint is now closed and under construction for a new and larger BBQ restaurant.

Always good. We have had the ribs, pulled pork and brisket and are always pleased. Their Mac and cheese is awesome. They are always so nice when we go in there. We usually order take out once a month.

Excellent little place. Hidden but serves outstanding food and is clean. I had the pulled pork sandwich and I can say it was a top 3 in my life(and I’ve had a lot of pork sandwiches). Owners a very kind and would 100% recommend to anybody looking for excellent BBQ

This BBQ is the Truth! It just falls off the bone and tastes like it does at your favorite family BBQ. These folks can burn… the ribs, rib tips, beef brisket, hot links, potato salad, Mac & cheese, collards… all amazing… And the PEACHCOBBLER!!! Love this neighborhood gem! They’re only open Thurs — Sunday but that’s because it’s real home cooking by what seems to be a family team that delivers 200%. A must try… you’ll be hooked!!!

Best KCBBQ in Atlanta. Hole in the wall, strip center, so not one of your trendy, rich folks ribs place. I think for the Summer they MAYONLYBEOPEN Fri. & Sat. Please correct this if I’m mistaken. Between 4 of us, we got the ribs, the pulled pork plate and some BBQ chicken. Plus, the beans and slaw are even awesome. This is NOT the type BBQ where they slater and bury the meat with sauce. It’s a dry cook, with the sauce and spices simmered and locked in ribs fell off the bone. Now I’m all worked up, and wish they were open right now… For us, it’s worth the ride. Only BBQ we will eat at now here in Atlanta.

The brisket and ribs here are delicious. Pulled chicken is decent but I will be coming back for more brisket.

I did not enjoy the pulled chicken sandwhich at all. Its not on menu but ordered it from the nice lady behind the wall. All dark meat chicken. Salty, no real smoky flavor … not the meat itself but I believe the sauce. Banana pudding VERY good though. I pray they continue to succeed.

I used to always see someone on 78 holding a sign pertaining to this place but I never saw where it was till one day I turned into the Goodwill and seen it in the strip mall behind it. I went inside and the woman who took my order, I saw her somewhere and finding out it was from this church I used to attend, it made me feel better eating at a place where you can support someone. Well support is good but is the food worth supporting? Well I ordered the rib plate with two sides. The ribs was nice and tender and the mac and cheese was the best I tasted out of any restaurant. The food was so good I couldn’t stop telling others about it. Disappointingly so, I went there last week because I was craving for another plate and they were not open. I wish I knew their hours of business because when its a mom and pop business, I know they may not open everyday but I sure am looking forward to the next visit. If you are reading this, why are you still sitting there lol.

DELICIOUS!!! I got the pork sandwich with fries and potato salad. All sooo good. Also, we got some Brunswick stew. This is the first bbq place I have ever been and liked both my sides. It was good. I recommend… We will be back!

I was out shopping and hadn’t eaten all day. I’d seen this restaurant several times and decided today would be the day to try it out. The owner was nice, I ordered a brisket lunch special which came with fries and pickle chips and a rib tip lunch special also with fries. I also ordered a large Mac and cheese, all to go. The brisket on a bun was great, the meat lean and well cooked, the sauce tasty. I also tasted husband’s rib tips which were tender and tasted great. The fries were bland and seemed like they weren’t freshly fried. The Mac and cheese-not good. Not good at all. Noodles over cooked, no cheese, no salt, no taste at all. I also got a banana pudding that was rather watery and not very tasty either. Would have given them a 5 but the sides left way much to be desired. The meats are very good though although the total cost of the meal was high-21.17 for the 2 lunch specials and Mac and cheese without the pudding. Give it a shot but steer clear of the sides. They might consider putting some kind of veggies on the menu as well.

Ate there last week and had BBQ pork sandwich at lunch. It was good. I’ll try brisket or sausage the next time. Would’ve been 5 stars if fries were better. Very good sandwich. Owners were friendly and helpful. I recommend.

Service was fast and everyone was nice. The food was pretty good. I had the beef brisket and took ribs, pork, and chicken back to my employees.

I’ve always heard that great BBQ goes no further south than Tennessee so maybe being from Chicago I hold my BBQ to different standards. I’m not sure how this BBQ got such great reviews but for me it’s some of the worst I’ve had. The sauce tasted processed, ribs were tough, coleslaw bland and the fries were dry and terrible. How do you make a bad fry? My BBQ, fry loving child wouldn’t even finish it.

Stone Mountain BBQ opened last October, making great use of derelict commercial space across from and old fitness center and best buy. The owners recently moved in from Kansas City, and have brought with them decades of BBQ experience. The shop can be hard to find, but it is worth the search. I dropped by the other day to give their pulled pork sandwich a go. They have a menu posted on the door to the shop that advertises said sandwich at 8 bucks. I thought that was a bit high, but I was willing to try it anyway. Boy was I rewarded. The pulled pork was delectable. Tender where it should be tender, just slightly crispy on the ends of the shreds, and delicately topped with just the right amount of sweet and smokey house BBQ sauce. I could eat a dozen, and I’ll definitely be going back. Moreover, I learned they have just a little bit of price confusion. The paper menu posted on their door lists a pulled pork sandwich for 8 bucks, however there is a menu board inside that lists«pork on bun» for 5.99, a much more reasonable price. I haven’t ordered the bun yet, but I believe it comes with a slightly smaller portion and a bun instead of toasted white bread(which was fantastic). I’m gonna give it a go the next time I drop by. If you like BBQ, you owe it to yourself to give them a shot. Ignore the 1 star review… whoever posted that didn’t even eat at the restaurant.

I’ve lived in metro Altanta for over 25 years. I have yet to find a BBQ joint that makes we say«this is my favorite.» I’m a country girl, who grew up in a family of expert grill masters. So, I’m very critical when it comes to bbq. However, I do like to give credit where credit is due. I found this new bbq restaurant in my neighborhood. So, I decided to give it a try. I’ve only been once so far. I started with the brisket since I had been craving brisket. I must say it was pretty good. The meat was thinly sliced and very tender. My serving included some burnt ends, which I love. Not too much sauce. I could taste the smoky flavor throughout the meat. I’ll definitely give it another try and test some of the items on the menu.

Ok, initially I only gave this place 4 stars because the brisket was all I had tried but I went back 3 times this week and tried the other meats and all I can say is these folks know what they are doing! This is easily the best bbq I have had around Atlanta. The only side I have tried is the fries and the cole slaw and I thought the slaw was very well done. It was kind of long cut and not too soupy or sweet. It is a nice mild slaw. The fries are fries. about what you’d expect and really just filler as far as I am concerned. I go to bbq for meat so I don’t usually pay sides much attention anyhow. As for the other stuff I tried this week: Rib Tips– Yum! Tender, great smokey flavor, moist. and the way they smoke their meats seems to render out a lot of the fat that you would expect to find in this cut of meat leaving behind juicy smokey finger licking goodness. Smoked chicken– I put away a half chicken without even breaking a sweat. It was very moist and tender but not overly done. It came off the bone clean but you could still pick up a piece without the meat falling off of the bone in the process. I was able to cut a leg off with all the meat intact using a plastic knife. They sauce the outside before serving and while the sauce is good I really think the flavor of the meat is good enough to hold it’s own with or without the sauce. Some places have to sauce it because they dry out the meat but not this place. If you had it without the sauce it would still be moist. Hot Links: I liked them. They actually had a little spice to them and were prepared well being served cut down the middle with a slight char and some grill marks and a little bit of sauce. Brisket — I know I already reviewed this the first time but I had it again this week and yeah, it is still crazy good! They need to serve it with a warning label about how addictive it is. I could eat myself to death on that brisket! See my earlier review for the rest on that. Hot bbq sauce– This is where it’s at if you like spicy food! After trying their hot bbq sauce I don’t think I’ll order it any other way. I get so tired of places calling their sauce hot and then serving something I can’t even detect a hint of heat in. This sauce is definitely not all bark and no bite. It has a nice slow heat to it so when you first taste it you get a good bbq sauce flavor and then after that some heat starts setting in. Just the way I like it. Brunswick Stew — I didn’t try this since brunswick stew is always an after thought for me but a couple of my friends that went with me tried it and said it was extremely good so I thought it was worth a mention if thats one of your favorites. I found my new favorite bbq spot. I love that they serve the meats and bread up on metal trays and paper. no frills. Just really good bbq. Now everyone else needs to come give these folks some business so that I can enjoy this food for a long long time! Don’t forget to ask for the hot bbq sauce!
