The overall experience was fun. It could have been better if the apples species were better marked. Since there is no path or indications on where to go we ended up starting on the«back» side so we had no clues of what sort of apples we were picking at first. They sell different sizes of bags and it starts with $ 10 with a teeny tiny bag. But anyway we pay for the fun essentially. Also a little lawn mowing would not be too much as the grass was quite high ! The apples were very good and tasty :)

The trees were not marked, so you had no clue what variety of apple you were picking. The apples were very low quality. Grass was overgrown. Price for a bag of apples was expensive. I have been to a half dozen orchards in the area and this was the only one that my family found to be disappointing.

This place is lovely — a real breath of fresh air from the über crowded nightmare lines at other places. The apples were great, the property is beautiful and they have a hay ride for the kids. The farm store was awesome and sells the apples if you don’t want to pick them — along with delicious looking pies and pastries. The 100 year old oak-tree is a must see. We met the grower too and she is trying to buy the property, so going there helps her with her cause. A great day — gorgeous spot and yummy apples!

One Sunday every year my family has enjoyed picking apples at stone ridge orchard. Our recent experience, however, only led to disappointment. The fruit wasn’t the only thing that could be considered a bad apple. The owners treated us in an unfriendly manner and made us feel very unwelcome. The apples are far too expensive for the quality and the grass was so high we could barely walk through to pick. There are many beautiful apple orchards in the Hudson valley that are worth a visit before this one. Needless to say, we will be glad to carry on our family tradition elsewhere.

Love this orchard! picking apples, taking in the beautiful scenery… My little daughter thinks only way to get apples onto our table is picking them ourselves off the trees.
