People that are going to Bahama Breeze are not coming here, it’s a local Stony Brook thing. I get it. It’s a quaint little spot that only us townsfolk know. cool. Walking in on a cold Friday night, my wife & I are hungry. I grabbed a menu last week and what leapt off the page was the«Truffle Cheese Board» Three truffle cheeses with funky crackers and fig jam. Oh you want some meat, $ 2 more. Damn that was some gooooooood cheese! While sitting in the corner and get settled in, I start to look around. Here are my findings: –Only two tables. If there are two separate couples, you’re not sitting. You may sit at what they call«the bar’ on a stool. Not facing your spouse. Not very romantical. –There are no wines, there is BYOW which is kinda cool. Somehow we had a glass of wine and was charged $ 10 bucks. Kinda high –There are no appetizers or sandwiches. No food! Its Friday nite and I can deal with wine & cheese, there needs to be more apps. Hummus, a pannine cheese sammy, something! –There is no excitement here! No music, no radio. no nothing. Kinda like the library. Now, if I may. Lets make a comparison to a great cheese place in Port Jefferson. When I walk into C’est Cheese, there is someone playing guitar. We’re asked if we want to try some cheese. I look at the wine board, the sandwich board and more importantly the beer choices. It’s interactive! It’s engaging! i’m trying to see how I would integrate Brew Cheese into my life. Sadly, I can’t. I’m thinking: I’ll call my sister in law and say, lets meet for wine & cheese at Stony Brook. We walk in and both tables are being using. Callie, I commend you on your new spot but it’s not something I can see myself visiting a lot. I wish you well in your current venture.

Met my friend for some friendly chess. Sailor Mouth IPA on tap(which I love). Dave very helpful and friendly. Excellent 3-cheese platter involving Manchego, goat and something else I don’t recall. All VERY good, earthy, well-sourced. Brew Cheese was a perfect hideaway and respite from the football madness that was currently unfolding. Incidentally, I beat my friend(a Russian doctor) 2 games to 3. I AMTHESMARTESTMANINTHEWORLD!

Can’t comment on the sampling, but best make your own six pack for only $ 12! Amazing selection of craft beers that are rare to find on Long Island.

My wife and I liked Brew Cheese, but it was just missing something, and it may just be that we didn’t maximize our experience there. The young hipster working the counter was very knowledgeable, very helpful and very very nice. The cheeses we sampled were very good, the only let down was the«baked brie» since it lacked the puff pastry and wasn’t baked(apparently the baker hadn’t arrived that day). The beer list was expansive(largely a bottled offering) and they offer flights should you like to sample what’s on tap. Lastly, the space, which is tiny, and seats at most 16 at a short bar and 2 tall tables by the door, would feel cramped with more than 8 patrons inside. In sum, I like the concept and their selection of beer and cheese is as impressive as it is palatable, but it’s just lacking some intangible for it to be a real hit in my opinion.

Absolutely fantastic spot! Great décor and even better food! The service was awesome too. I would highly recommend brew cheese to anyone who likes beer and cheese. The stuffed Bre was the best I’ve had.

I had an awesome time at this place. I love the look and layout, although it is small, and had a flight of decent brews and a cheese board featuring some fantastic cheeses. We split 2 cheese boards and most of the cheeses were among the best I’ve ever had, not that I’m a cheese connoisseur or anything, but I was very pleased with their cheeses and since I’ve been following them on BeerMenus, I see they often get really good beers too. This place is worth coming out of your way for.

We stopped in here after walking by several times. Julie was very attentive and was eager to discuss brew options available to compliment our cheese board. Everything was delicious!

My favorite place on Long Island. Nestled quaintly in Stony Brook Village, Brew Cheese offers an aesthetic that is very difficult to find anywhere. The concept of offering unique craft beers from breweries all over Long Island and the country, coupled with a huge list of cow, goat, and sheep cheeses from all over the world, Brew Cheese is an artisanal gem. The owners, Tim and Callie, as well as their cheesemonger Dave and the barmen Holden and Brett, are incredibly friendly and treat you like family. I’ve been to Brew Cheese almost every single weekend, because not only is the cheese and beer excellent, but the good vibes and chill atmosphere is what keeps me coming back.

I love this placed! Intimate setting which is a nice change of place vs other cheese shops! The service here couldn’t be better you can try anything you want. Plus during our meal, every 20 minutes they offered a taste of cheese great touch. Started with a flight and the stuffed Brie which is easily worth 11 $ and ask for some bread too for it! We chose two cheeses and the bison solumi and stayed for more beer of coarse. It’s small, really small. As in two tables and the bar and that’s it! But that’s what you want out of a place like this. We sat at the bar and they also have a fridge of bottles which is always an option vs the drafts they have. I would like to come back for sure and hope they make a website and show what’s on draft and any specials.

My husband and I love this place. Great selection and the atmosphere is awesome. The customer service is of course an added bonus. The selection of flights and cheese boards are phenomenal, the idea of this place is unique and honestly there is no other place around Stony Brook quite like it!

I really wanted to be excited about this place being a(near) dedicated retail spot for cheese and beer. I was disappointed, partially by the selection and partially by the fact that this place, like the local Whole Foods and Fairway cheese counters, is just a cut-and-wrap place(most of the cheeses, with the exception of a few, have been pre-cut into wedges, weighed, wrapped, and are ready to be sold). The best way to ensure the quality of cheese is to have it cut-to-order, and in a place where cheese is literally half the name, I’d expect«cut-to-order» to be the norm here. The selection itself is smaller than that of any of the other cheese retailers I’ve seen on Long Island. Bottle selection for beers is interesting, but $ 5⁄12 oz bottle is absurd. Honestly, I can’t see myself ever coming to buy cheese here or stopping by for a drink.

Went here with my father and stepmom. Staff was friendly, Holden was informative and helpful. Nice selection of cheeses and beers. Inside is very nice! Barrel tables and interior decorations make this place a nice place to try a few new things with friends or family.

Situated in charming Stony Brook Village Center, Brew Cheese offers you a glorious marriage of fine craft domestic and import beer and cheeses. As if that wasn’t enough, the owners of the always delicious Crazy Beans(located in the same Village Center) have turned this second venture into a haven of old world Bavarian charm. Highlights of this establishment include sampling ANY of their fine cheese and beer in house on top of the samples available at the front counter and weekly changes to their cheese board and tap selections. Growlers are available($ 20) for their crafts on tap and you can make a mixed six pack from their chilled, bottled crafts. Also, should you decide to sit awhile and enjoy the atmosphere and friendly staff with a cold one in hand, ALL12oz. bottles are only $ 5! With their undeniable love for craft brews and cheese, this is definitely a place to frequent! Prost!

Today is opening day of Callie’s new spot! It’s in the same location as the now defunct Stony Brook Godiva Chocolate shop, next to the Stony Brook Village Post Office, to the right. It’s amazing to see what she’s done with the place. The layout is exquisite — it starts with 2 large barrel 2 tops along the windows in the front, with a very long and large bar against the back wall with some of my favorite cheeses displayed in the displace case. The far left side of the bar has beers on tap with bottles in an open fridge on the left. Behind you she features spreads and breads(oh…that rhymes). They’ve got several cured meats available as well. More to come including photos and such! Stay tuned!!! THIS has been a review by Gaurav
