SCAM! This is the same cheap clay that flower pots are made out of. It doesn’t hold water(leaks); molds as it is drying; what a waste of $ 100 for a pot I cannot use or return.

I’m very surprised by the negative review! MEC pots are hands-down the highest quality cookware I have used. They are a delight to cook with(although it does take a little getting used to– less water is needed resulting in more flavor) and, if taken care of, will last a liftetime

Unlike the other reviewer here I am very happy with my clay cooking pot. Miriam’s Earthen pure clay pot’s are an amazing cooking tool. They add so much flavor to your cooking, along with so many health benefits compared to other options. The single greatest example I can give you is rice, I have eaten rice my whole life cooked in glass, metal, ceramic, and even cast-iron. The rice cooked in a well seasoned pure clay pot is simply unlike anything else. It is soft, sticky, and flavorful to the point guest swear you added extra seasoning. If you have the time to cook, then I can’t recommend one of these pots more, they are well worth the investment IMO. I will take a moment to address mold since it’s probably the single scariest thing the other reviewer mentioned. Mold can happen to anything that holds moisture and isn’t being cleaned. These pots are made out of pores clay, clay that absorbs and holds moisture this is in fact what makes cooking in these pots so amazing. However it dose mean that if you are not cooking in and then cleaning the pot frequently and you live in a humid environment you will need to take special precautions to avoid things like mold. Personally I have never gone long enough not using my pot to worry about this, however if I were to go on a long trip I would probably do something akin to drying it out in the oven at low heat, dusting it in baking soda and then wrapping it in paper or plastic before storing it.
