What a joke. Upon walking in, employees looked up as if we we’re bothering them. Considering a busy weekend(which I understand) they were short on gear, and instead of allowing us to be fitted for the right gear elsewhere, they gave us whatever they had left. I asked for size 11 boots, got home and realized they were 11.5. I said I was an intermediate skier, and gave me a pair of skis nearly 10″ shorter than I’m used to, AND they weren’t tuned OR waxed resulting in me destroying the poles and my triceps the whole weekend! The best part was the price… $ 90 for two days. NINETYDOLLARS?! For that I should gets demos and a back rub. Totally unprofessional, and as a Customer Service advocate these dingy hippies bros and bro-ettes need to get it together. I’ve skied all over New England and this will sadly probably be my last visit to VT.

Flew in from Michigan to enjoy a day at Stowe. Darkside was awesome… they hooked up our whole crew for the day with gear. Great service and prices… if visiting make sure you stop here!

Surprised at all the positive reviews. I brought my board in for a tune-up, along with several other friends. NONE of us were happy. There were clumps of wax left on my my board… and did not appear that the edges were sharpened. Really quick/poor job. Definitely would not go back.

First time at Darkside, I needed a facemask, and asked for some recommendations. Evan suggested one that he used, I bought it, and the product performed as good as he claimed. I always take recommendations for products with a grain of salt, always doing online research before buying. It’s great to know Darkside is such a place where I can wholeheartedly trust a sales rep’s judgement. They know what they’re talking about, and do so in a communicative and honest way. New favorite shop.

For riders spending time in Stowe, this is your store. Although you can find snowboards and clothing at other area shops, don‘t bother. This is most definitely a snowboard shop with employees who ride themselves. Brands are most of the ones that you would expect, i.e. Lib Tech, Forum and Burton. The vibe is low-key and laid back. A nice change of pace from the«upper crust» ambience that permeates through too much of this scenic Vermont town. Prices are a bit expensive, but for the most part, snowboarding is not a cheap sport to begin with.

Ok, where do I begin? Suffice it to say you all see the 5 stars I have given Darkside. They(Mike especially) deserve twice this amount. So X-mas just passed and Mike hands down was the hero for this X-Mas. My girlfriend saw my wish-list for Santa to peruse and it happened to contain a Burton Barracuda. She checked the www and there were none at Burton so she searched and found out that Darkside had a few. She ordered a size which in retrospect was an erroneous size. She was worried that we would not be able to get the board exchanged for the proper size. Not only did Darkside a la Mike exchange the board but Mike shipped out the correct size before the incorrect size was back in VT. Granted VT is a helluva long way from CA(Carlsbad) but be it known that I check Darkside’s website before I check out other websites. Mike, you kind sir have earned a customer for life. My GF is going to take snowboarding lessons and rest assured we will conduct this board purchase through you. I would buy with reckless abandon from Mike @ Darkside. He is beyond an upstanding and honest sales person. It is sad that good news and reviews rarely get shared but crappy customer service gets passed on like the clap at a frat orgy. Well I am doing my bit to share the outstanding customer service I received from Mike @ Darkside. I am proud to have a Darkside sticker at the very top of my snowboard. I will send y’all a photo as soon as I get up to the Mountain. Best Regards, ~Andy

Love me some darkside. In the summer time, I can roll in to get some sweet clothes by Nikita, silly sunglasses or a toque. Not a beanie a toque. But really, it’s about what happens in the winter. Super knowledgeable and patient staff, letting me try on pretty much every boot they had in my size, understanding my needs and making sure I was set up right. They were also cool about recommending gear for my skill-level, no up selling or hard-sells at all. Can’t wait for it to snow so I can be on the mountain with my(almost) entirely Darkside setup and outfit!

This place is great! Mike helped me out for ages while I deliberated over a snowboard purchase. He was super patient and answered all my questions. Good stuff.

Great store. This store carries great gear you won’t find anywhere else in the state of Vermont e.g. Holden, Nike Snowboarding, Capita, Neff, Von Zipper. The staff is pretty knowledgeable and helpful. The highlight of this store, I’d say, is the custom-made Oakley goggles. It’s basically similar to Nike ID except you are customizing a pair of goggles. They have a store-exclusive head band for the goggles. I frequently travel to major cities like Tokyo, NYC, and SF a few times a year but I’ve never seen this system elsewhere. Instead of dropping your money at stores like EMS, ski-rack, and alpine shop, come and spend your money here.
