Stop what you are doing, find your planner/calendar and figure out a time you can make your way down to the Blue Goose so you can get the crab stuffed salmon with lobster bisque sauce on the side. Oh my gosh, my mouth is literally watering just thinking about it. My boyfriend & I went for his birthday and because we both love the oldies, we enjoyed the old music and atmosphere! My boyfriend got a well done NY strip and it was really delicious but he REALLY wanted my meal haha! I told him we have to go for my birthday in February that way we both can get the stuffed salmon :) ONLY downfall was our waitress and I hate to complain because she was really nice! But it felt like she was distracted — she didn’t really check on our table the whole hour and a half we were there. What made me the most mad was my boyfriend & I were the only ones there for the first 20 minutes but it took FOREVER for our drinks to get to the table, I don’t understand why when it wasn’t busy at all!

This is an insider’s review, yes I am a server at The Goose(as regulars & staff call it). I have worked in more than a few restaurants in Fairfield County but have never worked in any place more devoted to our guests having the best possible experience. In every way. You want a certain table, your favorite server, or that dish you had two years ago but can’t remember the name? We’ll make it happen. I think the friendships we make with customers means more to us than them possibly. Bill & Sally Nichols, Jean & Hank McNamara, Ken & Judy, The Fanslows and of course My R.O.M.E.O.‘s and the Carroll Bros. You get the idea. Thanks to all of our guests, Here’s to a happy & healthy holiday season and a great New Year. P. S. can’t forget my bosses! Thank you Christopher & Chris, and your families. I promise to break less glasses in 2016.

I went on a Wednesday night, great music and vocals, by local artist Sean Morrissey. He sang all of the classics which I love! We had a lovely waitress who was very attentive and helpful !

Have been going here regularly for a year now. Food is incredible. Owner makes a point of greeting customers. Service is great. Portions are excellent. Menu has an excellent variety.

A hidden treasure. The atmosphere could be described as elegant. The décor combined with the candle light tables and soft music playing in the background gives you a sense there you are on some remote island, and not smack in the middle of Stratford. I order the lunch special, Steak with a mushroom toping, and the New England clam chowder soup as an appetizer. One word. AMAZING! Planning on going back again.

This restaurant is good for the baby boomer generation. The food is American style, pseudo-Italian, steaks and fried seafood. Not pretentious or hip. The music playing is what I’d call oldies. Our server was good; attentive to our family birthday party of twenty and she knew the menu well. My meal came with a salad; which was decent: greens, a few sliced cherry tomatoes, shaved carrots and mini croutons. I had filet mignon and mashed– sweet potatoes as my entrée. They have no beers on tap. The wine list was told to me verbally and it was types of wines: Cabernet, Chianti, Chardonnay, Pinot grisio, Riesling. I saw someone at our table with a nice looking martini with orange twist. My filet mignon was tender but had no flavor. I tried the yellow cream sauce that came with it but it wasn’t anything special. I did like that the server made us a house horseradish sauce that was warm and not overwhelmingly horseradish-y. My mashed sweet potatoes were kind of watery and bland. The side dish of pasta my boyfriend got, had watery tomato sauce. I also tried some broiled scallops and they were also decent. Overall the table agreed that the prime rib was the best thing there. I tasted the prime rib and it was much more savory than my filet mignon. They clearly need to update their décor and shorten their menu. If they focused on offering less dishes and making them really well(like seasoning the meat and seafood) it would class up the place. Service was nice and friendly. We kept thinking how Restaurant Impossible would interpret their set up. For example, why are there matador/Spanish dancer paintings in the vestibule? It’s not a Spanish restaurant at all.

Soooooo I hate to retract so far, we went here for Thanksgiving and like some other diner’s have commented it is not the best experience. Our server tried really hard to be nice, but she was absent most of the time. My daughter ended up sitting in front of an entrée, that eventually caused her to throw up, for 45 minutes because we couldn’t find her to complain. We were supposed to receive coffee and/or tea with our meals, but the server was too busy to make the offer. By the time, I found her to mention the food and the beverages she snapped at me. My feeling is when a menu Is fixed I should not have to remind you that we didn’t receive parts of our meal. Who the heck does that?!(Insert angry face!) Needless to say, we paid the bill and hightailed it out of there. I would say go… just not on a holiday. This was a 2 star visit

I read recently the Blue Goose was under new management so I figure we give it try after trying 3 other restaurants that had 45 min waits. Got to the Blue Goose. No line no waiting come right in. That should of been the first clue. Bread not good, used butter package in the butter dish. Salads warm and have been sitting out Prime Rib. What this rest is known for. Severing was precut extra dry, you could tell it was just in the broiler for a few mins to warm up. Pasta with Alfrado sauce. My child said dad… It smells funny. I tried it gross! Décor. Same since 1976. Next time keep driving and try stratford center.

I eat at the Blue Goose on a regular basis but I have never eaten on a holiday. I dined there with a group on Mother’s Day. The food was the usual for twice the price. The kids menu was ridiculous, the only thing that the kids could eat were the 15 dollar chicken tenders. I’m disappointed that the owner doubled the price for the same but much more limited menu with no extras and I will never go there again on a holiday. Judging from the amount of patrons there, I guess I’m not alone in my assessment.

Although I have lived in the area for over 10 years I never dined at the Blue Goose Restaurant prior to Thanksgiving this year. After calling almost two dozen restaurants in the days leading up to the holiday we had not decided where to go. Finally the day before Thanksgiving someone had eaten at the Blue Goose many times recommended we try it. We were lucky to get a reservation on such short notice. We weren’t disappointed. The hospitality of the staff, the service, and the quality of the food all were top notch in our book. Because it was Thanksgiving they had a limited menu but there was something for everyone. I had the turkey, my wife had the prime rib, and my daughter had the crab-meat stuffed shrimp. My wife said the prime rib was one of the best she has had. The portions were generous and each meal included soup, salad, the entrée, choice of potato, vegetables, desert, and beverage. Would we return? You betcha.

It is like a rundown nursing home dining room and it smelled like one too. Food was about on par with economy class airline food. Only nice thing — the waitress. Would never have gone there if I wasn’t taken there by a friend. Lots of old people — place cleared out by 9:00 on a Saturday night. It was a depressing experience.

I went here on Sunday afternoon for an engagement party for my sister. The food was excellent. The salad wasn’t too impressive, I didn’t like the dressing they had put on it. But the main course was a different story. I had eggplant parmesan and it was THEBEST I have ever had. Ever. The portions were HUGE. My mother ordered prime rib, and when it came out she was taken aback by how large the portion was. I heard no complaints other than from the guests who ordered the chicken marsala who really couldn’t taste the marsala wine. I’ll let you be the judge of whether that would steer you away. The waitress attending us was very friendly, efficient and handled the whole group of 30 people with charm and grace. The setting was beautiful. I had no complaints!

Very good old school steak and seafood. The prime rib is the best I ever had. They run out fast though. The dinner specials are a great bargain. Service is good.
